I wrote Don't Know Me at a point where I hadn't been true to myself - I'd slowly caved into others' expectations of what/who I was/how I should be, believing the only way I could fit in the music scene and around other people was to be less of who I really am. 'I hate that I have learned to hide' is the first line in the song, because I knew what had happened and was angry at where I had gotten myself to. Just before sitting down to write, I'd been hunched over a sink crying - it doesnt sound like much said like that I know, but I can't even describe how bad I felt at that moment. I felt sick at what had happened, how it happened slowly, and I had let it happen. Thats why I think the line is so powerful because I was admitting to myself that there was a problem.
