My children need basic needs such as milk and food. I currently live in a tent after I lost my home due to the occupation and I cannot tell you what life is like there. It is like hell. Very hot in the summer and cold in the winter. In addition, there are insects and snakes. It is suffering. I want my children to live and be able to survive. Save them from the war and provide them with their needs of clothes and food. I have been displaced several times, and every time I was escaping death and bombing amidst the screams of my children so that I could get them out of Gaza to a safer place, so I ask you to extend a helping hand to save them from death and so that my heart does not break or something bad happens to them. My story is a cry from the heart of hell. The war on Gaza began, bringing with it destruction that engulfed everything around us.
Our home, which was our only refuge and safe haven, turned into a pile of rubble. We were forced to flee south in search of safety, but what we found there was even harsher.
In the south, we found only suffering and hardship. No shelter, no water, no food. We moved between Nuseirat and Deir al-Balah, searching for a safe haven for our children, but we found only shelling and destruction. My wife Dina was pregnant, yet we found no hospitals or medical services to monitor her condition. My children fell ill with measles, chickenpox, and hepatitis, with no one to treat them.
My children grow under the scorching sun inside cramped tents, where life forces them to endure intense heat and mosquitoes. Life there is not just life; it's a sea of daily challenges, facing shortages in everything from clean water to basic healthcare.They deserve to be in a safe place, away from the constant fear of airstrikes and harsh weather conditions. They need support and assistance to regain their innocence and live a dignified childhood.
Let's stand by them, support them in every way we can, because helping them today is an investment in their future and ours too.
Life here has become an endless nightmare. I lost my source of income; my job as an accountant and the company I worked for were destroyed, and my recently imported goods vanished under the rubble. America has a weird relationship with cults where they’re terrified of small cults (or organizations they think are cults) but completely normalized massive cults that hurt many more people (eg: LDS Church, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Amish, Scientology, most Megachurches)
To anybody asking if the Amish are a cult, the answer is yes, very much so.
They’re a high control group that isolate you from society. The cult decides how you dress, how you behave, who you marry and how. They control what you know, blocking all information from the outside world. They control how you feel and what you’re allowed to think with threats of both social and supernatural harm. They’re a cult.
The best method to determine if a group is a cult, in my opinion, is Steven Hassan’s (cult expert and former cult member himself) BITE model.
BITE stands for Behavior Control, Information Control, Thought Control, and Emotional Control.
The more points a group “scores” on the model, the more of a cult it is.
I think this model is the best one for several reasons:
It’s more nuanced than “cult” or “not cult” and doesn’t make false equivalences between groups
It’s versatile, applying to groups big and small, and cults of all kinds, religious, political, financial, etc.
It focuses on what’s important, which is what the cult does to its members, and those members’ experiences, and not on irrelevant details like how uncommon their doctrines are or whether they have a charismatic leader
