It’s still noon—Harry doesn’t know why he’s rousing from sleep yet. There seems to be a strange—prickling? sensation on the skin of his neck, and a strange, heavy warmth on his waist that keeps interrupting him from his daytime slumber. He shifts slightly, eyes still glued closed, unwilling to rise until evening at earliest. He’s a true vampire to his core and he will have none of this daylight.
A sharp tingle jolts from his neck into his jaw then and Harry’s eyes fly open automatically, his lips parting with a surprised yelp.
The ticklish feelings ebb away while Harry’s vision swims into focus and he sees Draco straddling him, face hovering above Harry’s, eyes intently focused on something.
Of course.
“Babe, what are you doing?” he mutters, voice heavy with sleep still, brain slowly processing everything.
Draco slants him a grin in their darkened bedroom, an expression suffused with mischievous delight, “I’m biting you,”
Harry blinks and lifts a hand to his neck, the fading tickling itch rubbing off when he presses his fingertips against the skin, “Biting? Really?”
Draco just hums affirmatively, looking exceedingly proud of himself.
Harry can’t help but chuckle, amusement peppering the laugh, “It felt more like tickling honestly,”
Draco’s smug expression morphs into pure outrage within moments, “How dare you! Obviously I was drinking your blood with pure animalistic savagery!”
Harry’s chest heaves with the laughter rolling through it, while Draco grows only more enraged and bangs a pale fist against Harry’s bare chest in protest, “Pure animalistic savagery says he, while he yells at me how brash it is to keep my elbows on the table during dinner every night,” Harry manages between giggles.
“Shut up—I’m a volatile, dangerous beast—” the rest of Draco’s protest is lost in a high pitched squeak as Harry deftly rolls them over, his ridiculous boyfriend now pinned beneath him.
The slender column of Draco’s throat bobs when he swallows heavily. Harry can feel the fluttering of his pulse at the back of his tongue, his fangs sharpening already.
“Mm yes, so very dangerous you are,” he muses, “whatever shall I do against such a threat?” Harry cranes his head to the side, slides his fangs over his bottom lip.
Draco’s expression darkens with flush and he bares his neck, “Tame it, naturally,”
Harry chuckles deeply and leans closer, noses along pale skin until he feels the thumping of pulse, then bites.

My fandom has recently become a very unpleasant environment. It's a very small fandom, the people involved are very active and invasive, and there's no effective way of avoiding or ignoring them. Honestly, I kind of just want to leave the fandom entirely at this point. The problem is that I still love the source material with all my heart and I'm finding it hard to let go, even knowing it's for the best. Any advice?
This might be a situation where you let go of the fandom, but not the canon. Loving something doesn't mean you have to love everything that goes with it.
If the fans on tumblr or on AO3 are horrible to you, leave them behind. Try finding fans on twitter or tiktok or facebook. Post your stories to FFN or Wattpad or AFF or Dreamwidth.
If you're feeling strong and brave enough, you can always make a post explaining how you feel. You might find others who feel the same way. I'd suggest turning off anons before you do, though.
You can still love the source material with your whole heart, even if you're not a part of the fandom that goes along with it. 💕
fandom for me is me and a few good friends taking canon apart and putting it back together our own way for our own amusement; also maybe finishing a fic once in a while and throwing it up on ao3 and never looking at it again
fandom is whatever each individual fan wants it to be. if that’s just you and canon and a bowl of popcorn? go for it!
