Kitten || Self / starter for Saiya & Skylar
The sun had set, much more quickly than usual. Thankfully, with Pike's help, Skylar and the two other careers had found the shelter they badly needed in the ruined village they decided to visit. The idea in her mind was to stake out in the village, make it their own and kill anyone or anything that gets in their sight. But that was quite vague after how tired Skylar had gotten after their short hike from the Cornucopia. And how big the place actually was.
Skeeter was still badly injured and the cold just might freeze him to death. Once under the roof of a decomposing house, Skeeter unpacked his sleeping bag and snuggled himself in the corner farthest from the doorway. Flick's expression was as frozen and cold as the ground they were stepping on. He was a well trained career and Skylar knew he would begin cracking soon if he stayed anywhere but leader. She would have to fix that. "I'm going out." She told the two, mostly talking to Flick knowing that Skeeter was probably already asleep. With that, she walked out into the snow, following the tracks they made earlier.
While she walked, her arms were pinned to her sides as she tried to keep warm. Only once did she lift her arms to fix the pony tail on the back of her head. The cold wind kissed her nape, sending her shivers down her spine. But more shivers rippled through Skylar's body when the black something caught the corner of her eye.
Whoever it was, they were doing a bad job of trying to stay hidden. The small body of a girl was pushed all the way against the shackles of the house as she peeked into a window. The career stiffled a chuckle as she watched the girl, quietly creeping closer to her prey.
Once close enough, Skylar attacked. Grabbing the girl from behind and pushing her into the snow with one hand as the other covered its mouth. The girl was unarmed and shivering as Skylar kneeled on her shoulders, pinning her to the ground. "I know your face," Skylar mumbled, cocking her head to the side. "But thats it. What district are you from again?"
Skylar lifted her hand from the girls mouth to bring out her knife and touched the sharp end of the blade onto the girls lips. The smaller girl choked down a scream, but there was still the screech that echoed into the arena for that half second and her blade penetrated the thin layer of skin on her lips. "What district are you from?" Skylar repeated herself, frustrated that the other tributes had most likely heard the scream.
The small girl gulped hard with a cleanched jaw as her eyes stared hard at the blade that kissed her lips. They both knew if she said just a single syllable she would get cut even more. This, obviously, was what kept the girl quiet. "Well then what's your name?" Skylar changed the question. The words came out of her lips soft and smothly while she moved the blade and pressed its cold metal against the girls cheek. The small girl followed it with her eyes, she probably never tasted fear until now.
"C-c-c--" she stuttered, just barely starting to say her name she already cut herself off. They stared at each other now, Skyalr's eyes filled with laughter as her prey stared back shivering from the cold and the fear that coursed through her. Never had Skylar felt this way. She never knew, until now, the thrill of watching someone be so scared right before you kill them. "K-k-k-kitten?" she asked the girl, teasing her as she lifted her blade to point its tip at the smaller girls eye. The sound of her taking in so much air made a grin creep onto Skylar's face. This is fun. She thought to herself, dropping onto her left elbow to become eye level with the tip of her blade. "I wonder how close this needs to get to your iris before you answer me, kitten." she stated, lowering the tip of her knife carefully.
Skylar sat up straight quickly pulling her blade away from the girls face as well.. "Cuppy, right?" she asked, tossing the knife in the air to catch it by the blade. The small girl nodded as she tapped the hilt of her weapon on her jaw bone. "No career girlies volunteered to save you life, eh? Poor kitten."
No more words were shared between the two as Skylar cut off a part of Cuppy's jacket and stuffed it into her mouth. She didnt want the little girl screaming anymore. She shoved her knife back into its place on her belt and brought out her long bladed weapon and positioned it on her neck.
Blood already began coming out as Cuppy struggled to be released. She didnt know Skylar was barely pressing the weapon down but with one push the little girl wil be dead. They stared straight into each others eyes, Cuppy began tearing up but no amount of tears would stop Skylar from killing the little girl. "Someone to your left." Skylar heard Pike's voice again saving her life just a bit more. When the fuzz in her head ended, Skylar ended Cuppy's life. She watched as the blood split began spreading in snow making a pool of red. The smile on her face faded away when she saw Cuppy's empty eyes staring straight into the sky.
She stood quickly, wiping the blood from her weapon on the black jacket of her dead prey and turned to find shelter. But as she turned, an arrow poerced through the sleeve of Skylar's jacket and into her arm. The sudden attack knocked Skylar off balance as she looked for the one who sent the arrow.
In the window of a nearby house, a girl was loading another arrow onto her bow, probably aiming to kill the career there and then. But she wouldnt allow it.
Skylar launched one of her knives flying towards the girl before she ducked into one of the houses to her side, not waiting to see if it hit the girl.
