Skylars wants The Pike || Skylar loves Pike
"Thank you." Skylar stated bluntly, she didnt want to be seen so much talking to herself anymore. It would raise suspicions all over Panem, except for Thirteen that is. Everyone else would be seeing Skylar Duranderall, District Two tribute, talking either to herself or an imaginary figure. They would think she was crazy, and maybe people who work in the Capitol would think there was something fishy going on. Maybe after this year District Two would be known as the district that sends tributes to the games and gets psycho-freaks in the end that talk to imaginary beings. Jesset Kosta was already known as last years runner up that talked to some man named Bill.
With the bunny carcas bouncing on Skylar's thigh, the 'career pack' made their way through the snow closer and closer to the ruined village taking large strides at a fast pace. They didnt have much time until night.
Skylar felt her strengths drain as the sun neared the horizon, the temperature drop as the sun sank lower into the sky and the ice flakes fall from the clouds as they neared the village. Just a few meters more.
But once they were in the village, the ruins all looked the same. Or she was leading them in circles. The way this house was blown up looked like how that house was blown up, this building and that building tilted the same direction, same pieces of brick were missing from the same places of each structure.
That was when Skylar concluded that either she was already so badly exhausted from the hike to the village or she really was imagining things. She hoped it was the former.
But she wouldnt give up, not until she felt secured from the rest of the surviving tributes and mutts. Though she felt tired, she knew she had to find safe shelter, so she asked the last person she would ever ask help from, Pike. But if it wasnt Pike on the mic, she would have felt better about asking, "Which way?" she breathed, hoping the camera's hadnt caught it.
"You despicable human being." Pike muttered. "What happened to the annoyingly yet nice, hyper Skylar who kicked me in the balls a few weeks ago. Oh, how you've changed Skylar Durandell, how you've changed."
Sitting on one's bottom is not fairly comfortable if one has been sitting for 8 hours straight and seeing as if Skylar could handle herself and her lady pack, he left his station to get a cup of coffee. Once he stood up, his vision went black and he felt woozy. He fell backwards into the mic, messing up all the equipment. Instead of rushing to fix it, he began to laugh maniacally. Staying in a dark room for so long staring at dying, suffering kids was taking its toll on him.
He wanted to sleep and apparently, lying on hard equipment was comfortable. Without meaning to, his eyes closed into deep slumber, snoring into the microphone which was incidentally right beside his mouth.
Ill be gone for about 4 days.
My parents are making me go to this youth camp. :D
I want to have your babies.
thank you, anon. that's very sweet of you.
Once again, Skylar was grinding her teeth, Pike had to stop playing with the mic. His voice was getting choppy and fuzzled from the intensity of his voice. It was giving her a headache and she had to save her pain killers for a more important time. Like when she had epic wounds that caused her epic pain.
“Something to your left, maybe about 5 yards away from your spot. Arm yourself.” Finally his voiced softened, and he was actually talking some sense that could save her.
Skylar’s eyes immediately the something about 5 yards away from them. No matter how hard she looked, it was as if there was nothing there. But then again, those giant snake-lizard-reptile mutts they killed not long ago could easily blend into the snow. She hoped it wasnt another one of those creatures.
Stupid as the idea was, Skylar took three steps to the left to try and figure out what was there. Her hand on the hilt of a knife the whole time, ready to throw it if anything jumps at her.
Then she saw it, Four black dots facing their direction. Those mutt’s eyes werent black.. she thought. But surely, they werent mutts. The second she saw the black dots twitch, her hand reacted and the knife went flying. In the next second, her hand had brought out another knife and she was running to see what she had it. Red had begun staining the snow once again and she remembered the bloodbath.
But what she had just killed was something ten times smaller than the bloodbath. “Nice one Pike, its just a rabbit.” she mumbled, retrieving her knife and picking the animal up by its food. “Guess we got dinner.” she called back to Flick and Skeeter.
The knife left Skylar's hand with a graceful flick of her wrist. The moment it did, Pike realized she was aiming for a fluffy white rabbit. Pike restrained himself from reacting-- he liked rabbits and didn't want them to die. Especially those who are extremely fluffy to match the weather of the arena.
"Don't kill the--!" He started but as soon as he spoke the knife lodged itself right through the skull. Noooo, Pike thought. Not the bunny.
He frowned. It was his fault the bunny had died. All his fault. Now he had more blood in his hands than he'd like. Great. But his duty for now was to watch over Skylar and possibly make her look like a psychotic lunatic who talks to herself. If killing an innocent rabbit is what it takes, then fine. Pike will have to repent for the rabbit's death later.
"Can I at least get a thank you?" Pike said a bit mockingly.
Just barely a sip and she already Pike was already making a big deal out of it. She agreed to have thirteen watch every move she made and let them say what she needed to do but it was only now that they began abusing their power by letting Pike take the mic.
“I do not owe you an appology and the only time i will is when something bad happens to me because i didnt listen to you.” She mumbled, wishing just a bit she could communicate with him without having to actually speak. “And so far, that hasnt happened.” Skylar shut her canteen loudly and forcefully, so Pike may be helping her, his voice was still very annouing.
"You kicked me in the balls!" Pike screamed at the microphone, hoping that it sounded loud in her head. "I may not have babies because of you!"
Something on the left screen-- which was also Skylar's left-- twitched and Pike's eyes squinted at it to figure out what it was and if it was anything of danger. He saw a flash of white, it was quick and it hid well in the snow. Maybe one of those lizards again? Or a completely and entirely different muttation made by the creative Seneca Crane?
He spoke into the mic, his voice suddenly low and serious. "Something to your left, maybe about 5 yards away from your spot. Arm yourself."
Skylar’s footsteps slowed down suddenly, Pike was right. She looked ahead, the village didnt seem that far. She looked up, the sun seemed like a good distance away from the horizon. And from the lack of people she saw around them, an attack was not likely. She had district thirteen on her side anyways.
“Then we’ll walk slow.” She told Pike. If only they had just a bit of access to her thoughts, she would look leas crazy. Also, the capitol would suspect something was wrong if a decent career kept talking to herself.
Skylar swung her pack around so she could dig through her supplies, she needed fluids and she hoped Flick’s idea of melting snow in the canteens would work. “So how long do i have to deal with your voice?” She asked Pike, twisting open her canteen and hoping for the best.
"Not too slow though, keep yourself moving. It keeps your blood going." Pike said. Suddenly head weren't interested in making Skylar look like a fool. Maybe he'd do it again once he got bored again but for the mean time, he had to keep Skylar safe, which was pretty revolting.
Skylar placed her lips against the opening of her canteen where Flick, the cocky, overly-confident 16 year old boy. Pike didn't like Flick. Looking through his records and it seemed like at any moment, he could stab Skylar in the back. Possibly, Flick wasn't the type to take orders from a girl-- especially a girl like Skylar.
"Don't drink too much," He said once Skylar took a gulp. "You wouldn't wanna lower your temperature, do you?"
He snickered into the microphone, "Oh, I think you owe me an apology."
