heather clicks her tongue against the top of her mouth and runs her fingers through curls of blonde falling neatly over her shoulder, admiring her own reflection in the mirror of the vanity she currently sat at. she hoped that the outfit she chose for the day would be suitable for the date, well she hoped that it was a date. a date with bill denbrough, someone who’d actually be a whole lot nicer to her than patrick ever was.
her breath suddenly becomes caught in her throat and she’s ripped from her thoughts the moment she heard the knocking at the front door. heather is quick to stand up from her seat and rush from her bedroom, heading down the stairs and towards the front door before richie could get there.
heather feels her heart begin to beat rapidly against her chest when she opens the door and lays her eyes on bill, a genuine smile gracing her features. ❝ hey there, i am indeed. ❞ she takes a small pause to step outside next to him and shut the door after her, using her free hand to brush her hair out of her face. ❝ it’s a good thing you didn’t because how else would you hold my hand. ❞ the blonde shoots him a playful grin before giggling, despite being unsure if she was being serious of not about the motion.
even if she wasn’t ready, he was prepared to stay outside and wait for her. it would give him another moment to take a couple deep breaths and try to will his stutter away for the next couple hours, despite him knowing how impossible that was. his stutter was even worse when he was this nervous, and he had never been this nervous before. as she stepped outside to join him in the cool evening air, he willed away his stutter and the strange thoughts of patrick coming out of nowhere to kick his ass for taking heather out for a date. that was a fight he was willing to fight for, he supposed.
she looked pretty. beautiful, really. he wouldn’t say it in fear of messing up the sentence somehow. he stared with wide eyes, mouth slightly agape. maybe she could just tell from his expression that he thought this. a voice in the back of his mind wondered if she thought he looked crazy. at this moment he thought she had looked the best she ever had, suspecting he thought this way because tonight he was here for just her and she was there for just him. that was an exciting thought to stuttering bill denbrough, who had always been told he’d never get a girl. then again, he hadn’t gotten her in the first place. she had gotten him stuck in a trance.
almost incapable of forming a coherent sentence as his cheeks set ablaze from her light suggestion at hand holding. as they began to walk off the porch and into the street, bill kept his eyes forward, averting them every few seconds to her hand. taking a deep breath, he grabbed for it. his hand was slightly clammy, but he hoped she wouldn’t mind. for some reason this motion caused his shoulders to relax, his breathing to even out, and his thoughts to ease.
“ yeah, good th-t-thing i didn’t bring my bike, “ he looked down at their hands for a moment before looking at her with a soft smile. “ i’m going to be h-o-onest. i’ve been really nervous ab-ab-ab-o-ut this ! but now being here it isn’t so bad. i can’t imagine you being nervous though. “
