Propaganda : He dabbles with poison a great deal- he says this in one of his very first scenes- and is repeatedly shown to be an expert when it comes to them. I could absolutely see him having a Salandit, at least for some time, to study their poison in further detail.

Propaganda : I could see him getting one in the time before meeting Holmes. Growlithe are loyal, brave, and trustworthy pokémon, which will help in day-to-day life as well as in his time with Holmes. It being a fire type, and presumably a warmer body tempturature, could also help with any pain flare-ups from old injuries.

Propaganda : Holmes frequently uses disguises in his work, and Mimikyu's the Disguise Pokémon. Mimikyu conceals its true appearance and feelings behind its disguise, and it makes me think about that one line in the Three Garridebs where Watson gets to see 'the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask' in reference to Holmes freaking out a little when Watson's shot.

Also I think he'd probably want to study it or something.

Mimikyu disguises itself with a cloth resembling a Pikachu in order to be loved, which fits nicely with Alphys' many regrets with the Amalgamates and how she tries to bury her past by putting up a facade and inserting herself into Frisk's adventures. Mimikyu being part Ghost also mirrors her affiliation with Mettaton.

Propaganda : Okay so. In the game one of the little questlines says that he likes them. He would 100% have one because it's soft and relaxing to snuggle when you've befriended it properly.

Propaganda : Mimikyu conceals its appearance beneath an old rag so it can get closer to people and other Pokémon. Importantly it disguises itself as Pikachu which is like. The Most Popular Pokémon. Papyrus also wants to become Popular and well liked and have lots of friends, etc. I could see Papyrus working with a Mimikyu so that BOTH of them can become Very Popular. It'd be really cute. They could work on their costumes together!
