A couple months or so ago, I was doing a bunch of speed drawings because a commission I was currently working on was coming out
ASS
and so I needed something to do to make myself feel better and less stressed.
I spent the whole time drawing and coloring Jax, hghghgghjgjggghfghgfhkjjjkhhg-
I know I drew his hand backwards, I never got around to fixing it, lmao
I really like the textures I used for the shading, I think this is a very nice drawing I did.
also i just realized, what is it with me doing the amazing digital circus fanart to destress? this is twice now, wtf
I got bored, so I quickly drew my sleeping dog. I think it looks nice for a quick render, I captured her restful decrepit-ness decently enough.
Also in case y'all would like a photograph, here's the old girl in the non-illustrated flesh. She kept moving, so she's not in the same position I drew her in.
What a wretched thing.
"Touch grass" has lost all its charm. It was good, it was and still is rather effective, but it just doesn't hit quite the same anymore (at least for me).
Touch dirt.
Go outside and touch some dirt.
Run your fingers into the ground, feel the soil give in to the force you impose on it. Dig in deep enough so that your hand can be buried, returning to the earth of its origins, and so you can feel the grit of life get stuck between your nails. If that's too existential for you, or if you don't like getting dirt under your fingernails, then you don't have to root yourself entirely into the ground. Only partially.
Let the ground-dwelling insects and other bugs feel you in return. Permit them the honor to scale your hands like the wall or mountain they perceive you to be. Composure and grace towards the miniature architects, excavators, and recyclers of our planet is a mercy rarely extended to them. When have you ever purposefully allowed an ant to travel across your hand, not out of pure chance the creature had decided it was to travel that way but because you sat and allowed it to be?
Sift the particulate substrate between your fingers, let it fall from your palms back to the land it was shoveled from, gravity helping to sieve it between the wrinkles and cracks of your hands. Rub the dirt between your fingers, really feeling and appreciating the texture you can find. Rich soil, chalky dirt, actual sand, all of them have textures! Seek out the consistency identity of your neighborhood soil.
Hold a handful of soil up to your face, or perhaps a pinch depending on what you prefer, and breathe in all its life-scents. Imagine what the smells could possibly be trying to tell you. How old is it, you wonder. How many communities of species rely on or relied on this strip of land you're on right now? Is this the same earth trod on by people and animals of centuries prior, or was it carried over by the winds of time and the Home Depot Gardening Center? There are so many stories within the odor of the earth you live on, clues as to where you live and the health of your environment. All you need to discover them is be inquisitive.
Eat the dirt.
Just. Try to taste it. If it is safe to. You might be surprised.
i've only eaten dirt once or twice...
My point in sharing all of this is to say "Touch grass" is overdone, especially when beneath the lush grass is the land that tends to go underappreciated. Unacknowledged in some cases.
Consider stepping outside for a moment and, while living in the moment, after smelling the roses and touching grass, touch some dirt too.
Tell someone else who needs it to not stop at grass. Tell them to go the extra mile (or the extra inches) and touch dirt.
If they really need it, tell them to go eat dirt. Maybe even muss them up a little bit with it, I don't know.
after nearly blowing my top over a series of piled-up stressors, I figured out how to use the "clip to layer" feature on CSP and decided to test it. my decompressing turned into Ribbit fanart, lmao
I don't intend on fully rendering this piece, since I don't see any real reason to. It was a frog I drew to calm down that ended up turning into Ribbit, so from there I stuck her in the most oversaturated background I could manage. That's also why her colors are off -- I was just drawing a frog at first.
i hope i didn't accidentally foretell something in the Amazing Digital Circus plot...
Shameless self-promotion, lol
I posted a new animatic on YouTube that I’m insanely proud of. It’s centered around a Minecraft fanfiction OC. She’s a part of a much larger storyline that me and my best friend/younger sister have been developing for the past couple of years, currently called Entities until we come up with something else.
If you’re interested, try and give it a watch! And check both hers and my channel for some more content (information in desc.)
First time using watercolors!
For Christmas, one of the things I got was a watercolor pencil set and a pack of wet media paper, so naturally I needed to play.
I used Castle Arts Watercolor pencils and Micron inking pens.
this is going to be my first ever tumblr post, and i am extremely nervous...
I did a digital illustration of a scene in Chapter One of a comic series of mine! It is still in the work-in-progress stage, but it's coming along at a rapid snail's pace! I'm particular towards this scene just because it's a very soft interaction between these two characters of mine. Which is nice, considering the plot's going to take a nosedive from here, and these two - along with several other characters - are going to be constantly on the run.
I had fun messing with colors and trying to depict a sunset (even though I've been drawing a while, I still have so, SO much to learn), as well as just getting to draw the updated designs of my characters! I would love and appreciate any feedback anyone has, since I do want to grow even further as an artist.
Also, just in case anyone would like, there's a speedpaint too! I do have a much nicer-edited speedpaint posted on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/zACKCJkX8xI?si=WWgbhWALAmZnK9WC
