as a former escape room host i highly recommend doing an escape room as a first date. its a great way to learn how ppl react under pressure and how well they collaborate with you right off the bat. also more than once ive seen people enter an escape room as a couple and exit broken up LOL its a fantastic litmus test

sorry to broadcast ur tags but this is also a valuable part of the litmus test! it seems like you learned a lot about how this person makes you feel in their social group. they didn't go out of their way to include you, and neither did their friends. therefore you can come to a pretty good conclusion about how you might feel being part of their life outside of an escape room; someone who doesnt include you or your feelings in a game is likely going to do the same in other situations

honestly i have been responding to some of these replies at face value bc i do also think you have a duty as a human being to be nice to people. but if you think this post is scolding you to be nicer to people then youve already lost the plot. this post is about how assuming that everyone you meet is hostile and wants to hurt you is bad for you. it ruins your life and it is a choice you are continually making.

And it's not even factual that humans are "uniquely shit" or "inherently bad" or whatever. We keep accumulating so much data on how untrue that is.

We wouldn't have any of this--high intelligence, plushies, OSHA, dogs--if we were inherently selfish, violent, mean, etc. We wouldn't be human at all. Everything is because we are friendly and cooperative little guys. We are SO friendly and SO cooperative we do it outside our bloodline, group, even species. It's SO deep that it's in our DNA--we literally have multiple species of human down in there, because that's how friendly we are to people unlike ourselves!

Do not believe the Thin Veneer Theory. It is false. Do not believe in any kind of "humans are inherently bad" type of bullshit, I don't care who is telling it to you. It is false. Consider what they gain by you believing that sort of thing. Consider what sort of power they entrench with that lie.

We are made of Love. That's just how we evolved. And if we are all friendly and curious and cooperative and altruistic, then that means all our lives have inherent worth. And if that's true, then many things which power and tyranny rest upon blow up! Such as "earn the right to live" and "punitive justice" and so forth. Just blows 'em to smithereens!
