i miss those wintery evenings when basically all i did was drinking black coffee and reading until three am.
WHORE!!!
Based on your wisdom, how does a woman achieve genuine self-love?
By guarding and glorifying herself, as if she is the chalice of love itself, the Holy of Holies. By never treating love as if it is existing outside, at the periphery of her being. By completely re-envisioning love, as a source of flowing water, and she is the fountain. She does not need to go in search of it. People must go in search of her, if they desire to experience its life-giving properties. By treating all self-loving practices, as if she is pulling love up from within, not pulling it from without. This way, no one can be master her self-love, giver and taker of her self-love, except her. This way, her well will never run dry. No matter what is swirling around her, love is swirling within her—no one can take the cup from her mouth, because she is the cup. She should omit all prior opinions of who she is (both hers and others), based on scripts from her past—them was the old days. Mother nature has not stopped moving—catch up. The only constant is change.

This is the Baby Money Yoda, reblog in the next 60 seconds of seeing this to receive a blessing from our green bean prince.
~Lord Shiva, Rishikesh, Uttarakhand (India)~
Shiva is responsible for change both in the form of death and destruction and in the positive sense of destroying the ego. This also includes the shedding of old habits and attachments.
His destruction is the destruction of an artist, or a surgeon or a cook. Through destruction he facilitates the smooth transition of things and events from one stage to another.
He destroys our illusions, desires and ignorance. Shiva destroys to renew and regenerate our lives and our spirits, preparing us spiritually, nourishing and transforming us.
“When you succeed in awakening the Kundalini, so that it starts to move out of its mere potentiality, you necessarily start a world which is totally different from our world. It is the world of eternity.” – Carl Jung

so i got my bachelor of arts with a major in archaeology a couple of weeks back and it got posted about on my work's intranet. bc of this, one coworker came up to me at my desk and started asking me about the pyramids being generators for radioactivity and images of spacecrafts in the internal decoration and i was just sat there internally screaming as i very firmly shut it down. can netflix take down all its conspiracy theory shows so i don't have to go through that again pls.
You’d have to get Netflix to take them all down and get the History channel to stop broadcasting. Actually with the history channel stopped we’d simultaneously get less alien bullshit and fewer documentaries that talk about how clever h*tler was which would benefit us all.
I’m so sorry anon but “dealing with bullshit conspiracy theories” is your life now unless you hide your major forever and never mention it to anyone
As Egyptologists it is the number one thing people will attempt to do upon learning what we do. The other option is people will immediately attempt to undermine you by claiming that you either “don’t fully understand your own topic” or will tell you it’s “a crappy degree anyway. Why didn’t you do classics? At least they have poetry”. Basically if you have anything in this field or related ones then you’ll attract a staggering amount of ignorance and belief that you don’t truly know what you’re doing every time you introduce yourself, and there’s no escape.
The fun part, however, is those rare moments when you get to basically smash everything someone ever thought they knew about Egypt to pieces so small it’d make a specialist in pottery cry. Like watching their faces when you tell them everything they’ve been told by documentaries and/or the history channel about hieroglyph helicopters and cleopatra being the sexiest woman to ever have sexed is a lie is just. ahhh. I live on their misery.
Ruining people’s perceptions of Ancient Egypt is excellent. Just starting out with ‘yeah, everything you know is a lie’ and then working down from there. Though it’s stunning how many people don’t realise I’ve had the same conversation, giving the same verbatim cookie cutter reply, with literally everyone I meet.
Wait, I’m that person just finding out Cleopatra wasn’t the sexiest woman to have ever been sexed? 😩
Honestly, in my work as a therapist, I’m seeing this A Lot, and tbh I still don’t have a satisfactory approach to it. A heavy dose of Existentialist “create your own Purpose” tempered with “when the plane’s going down, put your own oxygen mask on first”, but… yeah, there is no ethical way to work on individual emotional distress without acknowledging the systemic socioeconomic, geopolitical fuckery going on at the moment, and the sheer grief that comes with it.
This is one of those areas where like on the one hand as a chronic moderate-severe depressive this shit hits me hard and on the other I’m watching people technically more mentally healthy than me struggle with the vast pointless mess of existence for the first time and it’s a trip.
Some tips from the inside, in case they help:
- life has always been pointless. Or rather, we have always been unable to control the relative point-fulness of life. The factors involved in opening the possibilities of who can have a large scale impact where are so insanely complex that they can at best only be pieced together imperfectly in retrospect
- the only thing that has changed is your awareness of this fact. No, seriously. The sun will eventually swallow the planet; at any moment without our knowledge or control the sun could flare in weird ways that will kill us all; etc. There was geopolitical and socioeconomic fuckery as bad or worse going on before: you just didn’t see it. Promise.
- you do what you can with what you have. You do what’s in front of you. Humanity has survived all of this before; it may survive it again. It may not. You can only do what you can: take what lessons exist from the past and apply them.
- sometimes it is just that bad and they are totally out to get you. The question is, what do you do about it?
- almost without exception in human history the answer has been “build community; support the one you have; reach out to connect MORE and to make the world more kind and less hateful than before.”
- recognize you’re trying to tackle god-level problems with a brain originally meant for keeping small proto-fish from being eaten. Treat that part of your brain like a very anxious toddler or rescue pitbull. Give it small measurable victories and successes even if you have to make them up. Make sure it’s fed and watered and has enough rest. Medicate it if you have to - there’s nothing wrong with that. The opposite, in fact.
We are hairless plains apes living in a thin skin of atmosphere between spinning liquid superheated death and the void of absolute cold, sustained by the radiation of a supermassive explosion that will kill us at the slightest excuse. We have always been unlikely and implausible and probably doomed which means every moment we are able to live, thrive and help others do so is an incredible victory. Don’t quit now. ❤️
Holy fuck I needed this

I really don’t understand anyone who still posts selfies at this point like. we’re all fully aware that the feds are monitoring us and using our photos to build a surprise database that will help them later it’s just not fucking worth it anymore
Human brain: security culture
Monkey brain: validation nice
I will Not be cockblocked by spy nimrod fucks
I haven’t ever really talked about this before but I’d like to introduce a concept that I’m going to call “security nihilism.”
Here’s the deal: You’re already burned.
It’s over! There’s no going back! Your face is in a database and your DNA is in a database and your social profile is in a database and there’s nothing you can do about it. Even if you didn’t put it there somebody else did. Congrats, we’re all fucked!
Facebook builds shadow profiles on people who don’t have accounts. Surveillance cameras are everywhere. Your cousin signed up for Ancestry and your brother did 23&Me.
So what can you do about it? Essentially nothing. So there’s no point in panicking.
You know what you have to do if you want some kind of privacy? Start leaving your phone at home randomly. Or at work randomly. People don’t think about the fact that their cell phone’s location data (which is constantly tracking even if you don’t enable location data for apps) is a more effective way of tracking them than anything they post online and it’s *real* easy to get a warrant for that data. And if you suddenly ditch your phone for the first time in several months it’s suspicious as FUCK.
Automated license plate readers track your drive. Do you commute? Do you drive the same way every day? Why the sudden change to your routine? What were you doing that you needed to park your car and wander away suddenly? What are you hiding?
Complaining about people posting selfies when companies are compiling DNA databases sharing them with the FBI is like blaming ocean pollution on people using plastic straws when about half of plastic ocean trash is abandoned fishing equipment.
Do you use gmail? You’re fucked.
Do you have a bank account? You’re fucked.
Do you use public transportation? You’re fucked.
Do you go to school? You’re fucked.
Do you have a job? You’re fucked.
I had to track down a guy who didn’t have facebook or social media profiles, didn’t have a listing in the phonebook, didn’t have a linkedin. I started with his first and last name and ended with his supervisor’s phone number, a ten year history of his income, and his home address. I got to it through his son’s little league team.
And I’m fucking J. Random Nobody. I don’t even have shiny databases full of tracking data.
So you’re already burned. There’s no going back, we passed the tipping point. Even if you threw out your computer and shut down all your accounts and smashed your cell phone and lived in the woods there’d be video of you walking out of town for the last time and satellite images of wherever you ended up setting up camp.
I was never going to be able to hide from the cameras on the streets and the data in my cell phone and the scanners that look at the license plate of my car and the information that my school sold about my age and income and interests. So fuck it. Share a selfie.
[fyi the secret to actual opsec is to trust no one and to have no discernible patterns - being in a facial recognition database doesn’t matter if you make a point of not showing your face when you’re doing whatever you’re doing that you want to keep quiet; your goal isn’t to evade the facial recognition software as you’re on the run from the government, your goal is to never even show up on their radar]
Sorry folks, all of this is right. Getting judgmental at other people’s selfies and masking it as an opsec fail is just ignorant :D
