If the KisaIta fangirl in me had seen this ten years ago, she would have died of glory… (I still enjoy imagining Kisame as a horny monster towards Itachi tho).

Kisame scratches the back of his neck. "Look," he says, while absolutely not looking at the anon's grey face. "In most verses, I don't work for a body for government any more. I'm usually a ronin or a nuke-nin.
"Only a big personal vendetta with a lot of hurt directed at my loved ones, could push me to finally deliver you to the doorstep of some local authorities."

" It drains chakra? " Raising a brow, she'd roll her eyes and huff. " Anyone can drain my chakra, you could if you wanted to, and it doesn't help much. The sounds aren't the problem, it's the bodies. I can sense everyone's chakra, I can even sense the birds over in the trees, or the ones waiting to speak with Jugo. The tiniest of insects trying to swarm around the barely alive body of a mouse that was just hunted by a hawk to our southeast. All living things have chakra, and I can sense all of them within a certain distance of me. "
Karin sighed, pushing her glasses up with one hand and rubbing the bridge of her nose, her eyes staying shut as she contemplated the choice. "But, I guess I could try it. The worst thing that happens is I over-feed it. Does your uh--- sword ever get full? I've been told my levels of chakra can be, vast. " Though the thought did make her interested, how would his sword react to her chakra?
Would it flinch away at her firey personality that might seep into how her chakra tastes? Would the sword become gluttonous and be one of the first to completely shut her down? Neither of her near-death experiences truly drained all of her chakra, nowhere near close really, so she couldn't help but wonder what it would be like.
Kisame was happily surprised. He used senjutsu to become aware of all those things. She could sense it naturally? Oh man, oh maaan, this was going to be an impactful meeting. Samehada was going to have a great effect on her.
What the effect was, Kisame couldn't say. Some people experienced Samehada as a black hole. Some experienced the sword as a noise-cancelling headphones. To some, holding Samehada was as if one held a volume slider where music and sound-effects and speech suddenly could be mixed differently. To some, it was as if holding a volume button to the sound of the world, and to some, it was like putting the nozzle of a vacuum on their nose.
"Gheh! Don't worry about overfeeding him. Fatting him up will only make his spikes fatter and longer. If he grows twice his size and heavier for a few days or years, that is fine, I can still swing him around. I like my swords like I like my partners, the bigger and meatier, the more to love."
Kisame said, "Please excuse me for a moment. Let me get my bag so I can dressed." And he stood up. He left and returned with his duffle bag. He opened it, and put down training weights on his upper arms. He strapped them down. He put on a vest with training weights on his torso too. He strapped it down too. These were not usual weights. These were chakra-draining rods.
Mr. Kishimoto's bingo book canonically called Hoshigaki Kisame the _Tailed Beast Without A Tail._ If he gave Samehada to Karin to experience quietude but he did not limit his chakra omitting to a single percentage digit, then his chakra aura would still be as loud as a freight ship horn. Sure, some sensor chicks loved to be flattened by his 'big horn', vulgarity intended, but not everyone liked to be overwhelmed.
Now the rods drained Kisame's chakra, he chose to no longer feed the escesses to Samehada.
The sword noticed immediately. It turned on its tummy.
"Samehada! Come here, pupper." Kisame patted his thigh. "Come here!"
Samehada came to Kisame, but it was grumpy about this.
Kisame reached out to pet it--
And it moved away.
Kisame smiled. "Aww, we're not friendly any more? That's because I stopped feeding you my chakra, ne? This is Karin. Karin want to give pets and chakra. Go taste Karin!"
She felt some relief, glad that she wasn't being judged too harshly considering evreything. Her own situation wasn't exactly common so her methods wouldn't make sense to others is how she rationalized it. " I don't even know why he's throwing this party. " Karin scoffed, rolling her eyes as well. It felt a bit too childish all things considered, which was why she was here, and not particularly closer to the loud gathering around them.
Although she did feel her eyebrow twitch at the mention of it, " I'm not from anywhere. " Karin grumbled, her eyes holding disdain for the comment. " If this is some kind of jutsu though, I doubt I'll be able to replicate it. I've alawys had trouble projecting my chakra outside of myself. "
"Yeah, it's not a jutsu, but I still have to find the first person able to replicate it," Kisame smiled apologetically. "But it would be a shame not to formally introduce Samehada to you, since you struggle with overstimulation sometimes, and this party is rather noisy."
Samehada was wrapped up and floating belly-up in the pool. Only the tip of the sword was visible, with its wide mouth. The tongue had flopped out of the corner of the mouth like a dog's tongue.
It drifted. It grinned. People played around it.
"I'm sure Samehada can give you a unique experience. He drains chakras and makes the world go real quiet. May I invite you to try petting 'm? I can call 'm over here. And of not, that's okay too."
"Distractions, huh?" Kisame scratched the back of his head. "So an overstimulated person is adding stimuli on top of the overload. But I see a problem. Karin nee-chan, how can distractions help? Doesn't that just add more stimuli on top of the stuff a man has to digest? I'm not as much of a quick thinker as most, ne. I gotta take things bit by bit. I'll need some help here."
Maybe the heat of the afternoon was getting to him, but this didn't make a lot of sense to Kisame.
She huffed a bit, her face blushing in embarrassment at how poorly she described what she was trying to get across. " No it's not like that. Think of it similar to how someone experiences a panic attack. You need something to ground them, draw their attention away to calm them down. Many people can simlpy turn off their sensory abilities as well. "
Crossing her arms over her chest, closing herself off a tad in her body language. " I can't, I'm giving you my thoughts on it for how I deal with it. I either withstand the overwhelming sensations, or I distract myself with a different kind of stimulus. Talking helps, for me, that much I know. It lets me focus on something else and try to shut out the overstimulation of my mind's eye. "
"That makes sense..." Kisame said with a nod. He smiled, because he was happy that he now understood her perspective. He put a hand on his hip, and he said:
"Do you wanna try out my technique? I mean, Suigetsu's garden pool party is maybe a little weird of a location to try it out, but I promise it won't hurt you--as long as you got enough chakra. But that shouldn't be a problem for you--since you're from Whirlpool, ne?" He meant her Uzumaki heritage.

" That's right. " With a wink, her face would still stay a steady red, enjoying and reveling in the praise. For once it was nice to receive it and be fully acknowledged for her accomplishments and Karin would revel in the rare adoration. Heart fluttering ever so slightly as he continued on with his string of compliments.
Yet she froze at his question, again in disbelief that someone else would understand. Not only that but be seemingly genuinely interested in learning about her capabilities. " It takes a while at first and I would guess how you developed them. I was born with my sensory ability and as such it developed over time. Sometimes it can get very overwhelming and I'm sorry to say I'm not sure. I'm still struggling at not being overwhelmed, though I've found having some distractions can help if you're not actively in combat. Speaking with other people helped me focus on the conversation and not what's around me. "
