Girlhood is trying to figure out which fictional man you wanna read a fic abt before bed
demigods, bad ideas, and a sleepover
pairing: none (percy x reader crumbs if you squint) word count: ~1.6k warnings: sleep deprivation, terrible snack choices, leo valdez tropes: found family, sleepover chaos, truth or dare, demigods being teenagers setting: camp half-blood, the big house living room summary: someone suggests a sleepover. the seven prove very quickly that giving demigods free time is a terrible idea.
The idea starts, unfortunately, with Percy, which should've been everyone's first red flag.
"We should have a sleepover!", Percy announces.
Annabeth slowly lowers the book she's reading and stares at him.
"No."
Leo immediately sits up.
"Yes."
Jason looks between them like he's witnessing the beginning of a diplomatic crisis.
"A sleepover?", he repeats.
"Yeah.", Percy says. "You know... Blankets, snacks, normal teenage bonding?"
Nico, who is somehow already sitting in the darkest corner of the room, mutters:
"That sounds like a mistake."
Everyone jumps.
"WHEN DID YOU GET HERE?", Leo demands.
Nico shrugs.
"I've been here."
"That's worse", Leo says.
Two hours later, everyone is sitting in the Big House living room surrounded by pillows and blankets. Jason is trying very hard to maintain control of the situation.
"Okay", he says, clapping once. "If we're doing this, we should have some basic rules."
Percy immediately throws a pillow at his face, Jason catches it midair.
"Percy."
"What?", Percy says innocently.
Leo points dramatically.
"I support Percy's leadership style!"
Annabeth sighs the sigh of someone who has accepted her fate.
"This was a terrible idea."
The second problem appears when Leo brings out snacks, making Hazel squint at the tray.
"...Why are those cookies smoking?"
Leo crosses his arms.
"First of all, they're lightly steaming."
Percy leans closer.
"Leo", he says carefully, "cookies are not supposed to steam."
"They're...experimental?.."
Frank slowly pushes the tray farther away.
"I feel like we shouldn't eat those."
Leo looks deeply offended.
"You guys are cowards."
Half an hour later, Piper decides the night needs entertainment.
"Okay", she says, clapping. "Truth or dare!"
Leo immediately points at Percy.
"Truth."
"You didn't even ask yet!", Percy protests.
"Fine", Piper says sweetly. "Truth or dare?"
Percy narrows his eyes.
"Truth."
Piper smiles.
"Who in this room would you trust the least on a quest?"
Percy doesn't hesitate.
"Leo."
Leo gasps.
"Wow, betrayal."
"You tried to microwave a sword last week", Annabeth says.
"In my defense", Leo replies, "I wanted to see what would happen."
"That is the problem..", Jason says.
The game gets worse very quickly. Jason gets dared to balance three pillows on his head, Leo has to compliment Jason for sixty seconds straight, and Frank panics during a dare and accidentally turns into a raccoon.
"FRANK-" Hazel groans. The raccoon chitters angrily, Percy is crying laughing.
"This is the best night of my life."
Frank turns back five seconds later, deeply embarrassed.
"I panicked!"
Eventually Piper leans forward again with the most dangerous expression possible.
"Okay", she says slowly. "Serious question."
Everyone goes quiet.
"Who here would survive the longest in a horror movie?"
Leo raises his hand instantly.
"Me!"
"You would die first.", Annabeth says without looking up.
Jason points at Hazel.
"Hazel would survive."
Hazel blinks.
"Why me?"
"You're calm.", Jason says.
Percy suddenly points at you.
"(Y/N) would survive."
You look up.
"Why?"
Percy shrugs.
"You're smart."
Leo leans forward with a grin that immediately makes everyone nervous.
"No, no,", he says. "Let's be honest."
Everyone looks at him.
"(Y/N) would survive because Percy would sacrifice himself."
Percy chokes on his drink.
"WHAT-"
Jason slowly turns toward him.
"…Wait."
Piper's eyes widen.
"Oh."
Annabeth looks up. Nico, who has been silent for thirty minutes, finally speaks.
"That tracks."
Percy turns bright red.
"Can we PLEASE change the subject?"
Leo grins like he just discovered fire.
"Oh no..", he says. "We're absolutely not changing the subject."
Percy points accusingly at him.
"I regret inviting you."
"You didn't invite me.", Leo says proudly. "I invited myself."
Around midnight, Leo decides the group needs more excitement.
"I built something!", he announces.
Annabeth immediately looks concerned.
"No."
Leo ignores her and pulls a small metal device out of his backpack.
"What does it do?", Percy asks.
Leo presses a button, and it begins to spark.
"LEO!", Annabeth shouts.
"IT'S A PROTOTYPE!"
Jason grabs a pillow and smothers the sparks, Frank opens a window, Nico disappears into the shadow, Piper is laughing so hard she's wheezing, and you're staring at the chaos around you.
"This was a mistake."
Percy grins.
"Admit it.", he says. "You're having fun."
You hesitate. "...Maybe."
By three in the morning, the room looks like a disaster zone. Blankets everywhere, pillows on the floor, snack wrappers scattered across the table. Leo is asleep face-first on the couch, Jason somehow fell asleep sitting up, Franz and Hazel are quietly talking near the window, Annabeth and Piper are whispering on the other side of the room, Nico vanished at some point, and you, along with Percy, are the only ones still awake.
You're sitting on the floor with your backs against the couch. Percy glances around at the sleeping demigods.
"Honestly,", he says quietly, "I think this went pretty well."
You stare at the room.
"Leo almost started a fire."
"But he didn't,", Percy says.
"Frank turned into a raccoon!", you giggle.
"That was hilarious."
You laugh softly. Percy nudges your shoulder with his.
"We should do this again sometime."
You look around one more time: the messy room, your exhausted friends, the quiet camp outside the windows. "...Yeah.", you say. "I think we should."
Percy smiles. And for once, there are no monsters, no quests, and no world-ending disasters waiting for them, just one chaotic, ridiculous, very demigod sleepover. And possibly still-smoking cookies. ︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵
hello my angels!!
thank you so much for reading!! i honestly just wanted to write something where the seven get to act like normal chaotic teenagers for once instead of constantly saving the world.
this was basically just an excuse to put them all in one room and see what kind of nonsense would happen (leo starting fires, percy being chaotic, nico judging everyone from the shadows… you know, the usual).
if you enjoyed this fic, feel free to like/reblog or leave a comment!! i appreciate it a lot ♡
the only one who believes him
pairing: luke castellan x female reader word count: ~1.5k warnings: kronos mention, angst, betrayal themes, canon-typical tension tropes: luke redemption arc, "i choose you", morally grey luke, confrontation, hurt/comfort setting: camp half-blood, shortly before the betrayal summary: the entire camp is starting to doubt luke castellan. everyone except you.
The whispers start slowly, you barely notice them at first.
Camp Half-Blood is never exactly quiet, there are always people talking, laughing, arguing somewhere between the cabins and the training arena. But lately, the murmurs seem different, lower, and more cautious. As if people are trying not to be overheard.
And strangely enough, those whispers almost always seem to involve Luke. You hear it at dinner for the first time, two Hermes campers leaning close together across the table.
"..I'm telling you, something's off with him."
"You think Chiron noticed?"
"I mean, have you seen him lately?"
You glance over instinctively. Luke is sitting a few seats down, elbow on the table, listening to Grover ramble about something with an amused half-smile on his face. He looks exactly the same as always: relaxed, confident, and completely at ease. You frown slightly. When you look back at the two campers, they fall silent immediately. The second time it happens, Annabeth is the one who brings it up.
You're both walking back from sword practice, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows across the training grounds. Annabeth has been unusually quiet for most of the walk, which is strange enough to make you glance at her.
"Do you think Luke's been acting… different?", she finally asks.
You blink.
"Different how?"
Annabeth hesitates, clearly searching for the right words.
"I don't know", she says slowly. "He just seems… distracted lately."
You shrug, wiping sweat from your forehead.
"He's probably just tired."
Annabeth studies your face carefully.
"Maybe", she mumbles, but she doesn't sound convinced.
The third time, it's much less subtle. You're sitting near the campfire when a group of Ares campers start talking a little too loudly behind you.
"I heard Chiron's been watching him."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, like he doesn't trust him or something."
Your head snaps around.
"Excuse me?"
The conversation immediately stops, one of the campers shifting awkwardly.
"We weren't talking about anything."
"You were talking about Luke", you say flatly.
Another camper shrugs.
"Look, we're just saying something's weird with him lately."
You feel irritation spark in your chest.
"Maybe he's just tired", you snap. "Did that ever occur to you?"
They exchange looks.
"You're being pretty defensive."
"Because you're talking about him like he did something wrong", you reply.
The camper scoffs.
"Maybe he did."
You stand up immediately.
"Luke has spent years protecting this camp", you say sharply. "He trains half the younger campers, he helps everyone who asks, and he's one of the best fighters here. Maybe instead of whispering about him behind his back, you could try showing a little respect."
The Ares camper raises his hands.
"Alright, relax."
But you're already walking away, your jaw tight. Behind you, the whispers start again. Luke hears about it the next day. He doesn't hear it from the Ares cabin, he hears it from Grover.
"And then (Y/N) basically told them to shut up", Grover finishes.
Luke goes very still.
"She did?"
Grover nods.
"Yeah, she was pretty mad."
Luke stares at the training arena across the field, where a few campers are sparring under the fading afternoon light.
"...Right.", he says quietly.
You're alone near the arena later that evening. Most of the campers have already gone to dinner, leaving the training grounds unusually quiet. The swords have been put away, and the air smells faintly of dust and metal. You're tying the strap on your bracer when you hear footsteps behind you.
"Hey."
You look up.
Luke.
He's leaning casually against one of the wooden posts, arms crossed, watching you.
"Hey, did you skip dinner?", you say.
He shrugs.
"Wasn't hungry."
Something about his expression makes you pause.
"What's wrong?"
Luke tilts his head slightly.
"You defended me yesterday."
You blink.
"Oh."
"You didn't have to do that."
You shrug, finishing with your bracer.
"They were being annoying."
Luke lets out a quiet breath, looking down at the ground for a moment before speaking again.
"That's not really an answer."
You raise an eyebrow.
"To what?"
"To why you did it."
There's a small pause, then Luke pushes himself away from the post and walks a little closer.
"Everyone's starting to notice something’' off with me", he says quietly.
You frown.
"Who says that?"
"People."
"People gossip", you say dismissively.
Luke studies your face.
"You didn’t answer my question."
You sigh softly.
"Luke."
"What?"
"Why are we talking about this?"
"Because", he says, a little more sharply than before, "I want to know why you keep defending me."
You blink.
"I just told you."
"No", he says quietly. "You didn't."
For a moment, neither of you say anything. The evening breeze moves gently through the trees around the arena, then you shrug.
"Because I trust you."
The words come out so naturally that you don’t even think about them. But Luke freezes, completely, and you notice the change immediately.
"Luke?"
He's staring at you like you just said something impossible." "...You trust me", he repeats.
"Yeah?"
Your voice lifts slightly at the end, confused.
"Why wouldn't I?"
Luke looks away quickly, running a hand through his hair.
"You shouldn't."
You laugh softly.
"That's dramatic."
"I'm serious."
"So am I."
Luke exhales slowly, his shoulders tense.
"You don't know everything about me, (Y/N)."
"Okay?"
"There are things I've done", he says quietly, "things I'm thinking about doing… you wouldn't like them."
You tilt your head.
"Luke."
He looks back at you.
"If you knew", he continues, his voice rough now, "you probably wouldn't be standing here defending me."
For a moment you just watch him, and then you shake your head.
"Luke Castellan", you say gently, "you are one of the best people I know."
He flinches slightly at that.
"You train half the camp", you continue. "You help every new camper who shows up here terrified and confused. You've saved people more times than I can count."
Your voice softens.
"So yeah, I trust you."
Luke's chest rises slowly as he breathes in.
"You shouldn't.", he whispers again. But this time, you step a little closer.
"I do."
He stares at you. There's something almost desperate in his expression now, something heavy and conflicted.
"You have no idea what you're saying", he murmurs.
"Sure I do."
"You really don't."
"Luke."
Your voice stops him.
"I'm choosing to believe in you."
The words hang in the air between you, Luke looks like they physically hurt him. For a long moment, he doesn't say anything at all.
Then he laughs quietly, but there's no humor in it.
"You're going to regret that someday."
You smile faintly.
"Maybe."
Luke’s gaze lingers on you for a moment longer. For the first time since you've known him, he looks almost… lost. Finally, he turns away.
"You're too good, (Y/N)", he mutters.
You watch him walk across the empty arena, disappearing into the fading evening light, and you never notice the way his hands are shaking.

hello my loves <3 thank you so much for reading !! writing luke before the betrayal hurts a little because you can really see how conflicted he is and how much he still cares about the people at camp...
i love the idea that the reader is the one person who never doubts him, which honestly makes everything even more tragic knowing what happens later :(
if you enjoyed this fic, feel free to like/reblog or leave a comment!! it really means a lot and motivates me to keep writing <3
Everyone But You
pairing: percy jackson x female reader word count: ~1.5k warnings: none, just chaos and embarrassment tropes: oblivious reader, down-bad percy, capture the flag chaos
The first person who notices is Annabeth. Which, in hindsight, makes sense. Annabeth notices everything.
At first it's small things, so small that you don't even realize they're happening. Percy volunteering to partner with you during sword practice, sitting next to you at dinner even when Grover is clearly saving him a seat, and offering to refill your drink before you even notice your cup is empty.
Annabeth watches it happen for exactly three days before leaning across the table toward Grover.
"He likes her", she says simply.
Grover follows her gaze.
Across the pavilion, Percy is laughing at something you just said, leaning forward slightly like he doesn't want to miss a single word you're saying, his ears faintly red.
Grover grins immediately.
"Oh yeah, he's doomed.", he says.
The entire camp figures it out eventually, except you, which..becomes a problem.
"Why does Percy keep following you around?"
You blink at Clarisse from across the campfire, confused by the question.
"What? He doesn't."
Clarisse stares at you.
"He literally does."
"No he doesn't, he's just nice.", you insist.
Clarisse looks like she's about to say something extremely aggressive about your intelligence when Percy jogs up behind you.
"Hey", he says a little breathlessly. "You're sitting here? Cool. Mind if I-"
He sits down next to you before finishing the sentence. Clarisse slowly drags a hand down her face, but you don't notice. Grover gives Percy approximately two weeks before he snaps.
"Just tell her", Grover says while they're cleaning the stables.
Percy groans, shoving a pitchfork into the hay harder than necessary.
"Grover, it's not that easy."
Grover raises an eyebrow.
"Come on! You stare at her like she's the last blue cookie on earth..."
Percy immediately turns red.
"I do not."
"You absolutely do."
Percy mutters something incoherent and keeps working. Meanwhile, you're completely oblivious. Which is why when Annabeth casually asks you one afternoon, "So… how long have you and Percy been flirting?", you nearly choke on your lemonade.
"We're not flirting!"
Annabeth pauses.
"You're not?"
"No!", you say, baffled. "Percy's just being nice."
Annabeth stares at you for a long moment. Then she slowly leans back in her chair and murmurs to herself, "Oh, this is going to be painful."
The breaking point comes during capture the flag, because of course it does, nothing at Camp Half-Blood ever happens normally. The woods are dark, torches flickering through the trees while campers move between shadows, whispering strategies and plotting ambushes. The air buzzes with competition.
You're on the Apollo team, and Percy is on the Poseidon team, which means tonight, you're technically enemies. You're crouched behind a fallen log with two other Apollo campers, studying the woods ahead when someone suddenly grabs your arm.
You yelp.
"Shh!"
You whip around.
"Percy! What are you doing here?!"
He's crouched beside you, eyes wide.
"You were about to walk straight into the Ares cabin", he whispers urgently.
You blink.
"Oh..."
He points behind you. Sure enough, Clarisse and several Ares campers are patrolling the area, their torches casting long shadows through the trees.
You slowly turn back to Percy.
"Why are you helping me?", you whisper.
Percy freezes.
"I'm not."
"You literally grabbed me."
"You looked like you were going to die!"
"I can handle myself, thank you very much..", you whisper defensively.
"I know you can", Percy says quickly. "I just-"
He cuts himself off, making you narrow your eyes.
"Percy."
"What."
"You're on the other team." "Technically..."
"Technically?"
"Okay look", he mutters, rubbing the back of his neck, "maybe I just don't want you getting tackled by the Ares cabin tonight."
You stare at him.
"That's the point of the game."
"Yeah, but-"
A voice suddenly cuts through the woods.
"Jackson."
Clarisse steps into the torchlight with her arms crossed. Behind her, half the Ares cabin watches the scene with obvious interest.
Clarisse raises an eyebrow.
"Why are you helping the enemy?"
Percy straightens immediately.
"I'm not."
"You literally dragged (Y/N) behind a log."
Percy opens his mouth, then closes it. You look between them, confused.
"I told you, he's just nice.", you say defensively.
Clarisse makes a strangled noise.
"Nice."
Behind Percy, Grover appears from the trees, already looking exhausted. Annabeth follows a second later, clearly very interested in what's happening.
"Percy", Annabeth says calmly, "Do you want to explain?"
Percy looks like he would rather fight a hydra.
"I don't have to explain anything."
Clarisse gestures dramatically at the two of you.
"You're literally sabotaging your own team."
"I am not!"
"You are protecting her!"
Percy's ears turn bright red.
"No I'm not!"
"You are!"
"You're imagining things!"
Clarisse suddenly points directly at you.
"Then tackle her."
Everyone goes quiet, Percy freezes, and you cross your arms.
"Yeah, Percy."
He looks horrified.
"You want me to tackle you?"
"You said you weren't helping me."
Percy glances around.
Annabeth is watching like she’s observing a science experiment, Grover has already buried his face in his hands, and Clarisse smirks.
“Well?”
Percy looks at you and exhales slowly, making you raise an eyebrow.
"Oh my gods."
Then, suddenly-
"Because I like you, okay?!"
The entire forest goes silent. Somewhere behind Clarisse, someone chokes.
You blink.
"...What?"
Percy looks like he wants to disappear into the earth.
"I like you", he says again, quieter now. "I've liked you for months, that's why I keep helping you and sitting next to you and following you around like an idiot."
Grover claps a hand over his mouth.
You stare at Percy.
"Oh."
Percy winces.
"Yeah. Oh."
A long pause passes between you.
Then you say slowly-
"Wait.."
Percy looks up miserably.
"You didn't know?", he asks.
You shake your head.
"Percy, I thought you were just… being nice to me."
Clarisse groans loudly, Percy drops his face into his hands.
"Oh my gods."
"But", you add quickly.
Percy looks up again, your voice is a little quieter now.
"I like you too, Percy, alot, actually.."
Percy blinks.
"You do?"
You nod. Behind him, Annabeth pumps a fist in victory. Grover whispers, "Finally.", and Clarisse throws her hands in the air.
"This is the worst capture the flag game I've ever witnessed."
Percy is still staring at you like you've just told him the Oracle personally approved of him.
"Wait", he says slowly. "So… you like me?"
You smile a little nervously.
"Yes, Percy."
He lets out a disbelieving laugh, running a hand through his hair.
"Wow."
Then Clarisse sighs loudly.
"Are you two done?"
Percy glances at the flag in the distance.
Then back at you.
"Honestly..?"
Before anyone can react, he grabs your hand and starts running.
"Percy!" you laugh.
"New plan!", he says breathlessly. "We win the game and then I take you to the beach."
"The beach?"
"Yeah", he says, grinning now. "First official date."
Behind you, the Ares cabin starts yelling, Annabeth shouts something about strategy, Grover cheers.
And somehow, in the middle of capture the flag chaos, Percy Jackson still manages to look ridiculously happy holding your hand.

the moment he chose you
pairing: luke castellan x female reader word count: ~1.5k warnings: kronos mention, angst, betrayal themes, canon-typical tension tropes: luke redemption arc, "i choose you", morally grey luke, confrontation, hurt/comfort setting: post-camp, pre-betrayal divergence / alternate timeline summary: Kronos demands Luke eliminate the one thing standing in the way of his loyalty. Unfortunately for Kronos, that thing is you!
The first thing you notice is the silence.
Not the peaceful kind, not the quiet that settles over Camp Half-Blood at night when the fires die down and the cabins glow softly through the trees. This silence feels wrong and heavy, like the air itself is holding its breath.
You're standing in the ruins of an abandoned temple somewhere far beyond the camp borders. Broken marble columns lie scattered across the floor, and moonlight filters through cracks in the ceiling.
Across from you stands Luke Castellan. And behind him, something darker. You can feel it even if you can't see it properly: the presence presses against your mind like cold fingers.
Kronos.
Luke's sword hangs loosely in his hand, but he isn't attacking, he's just watching you.
"Luke", you say quietly.
Your voice echoes through the ruined hall. For a moment, nothing happens, then his jaw tightens.
"You shouldn't have followed me", he says.
The words are calm, but something about them feels strained, like they're being forced through clenched teeth.
"You disappeared, what did you expect me to do?", you reply.
Luke laughs softly, but it's not his usual laugh, it sounds tired.
"You were supposed to stay safe, that was the whole point.", he says.
Behind him, the air distorts. A voice slithers through the temple; it's ancient, cold even.
"You hesitate."
The sound makes your skin crawl.
Luke doesn't turn around. "I'm handling it", he mutters.
The presence grows heavier.
"She is an obstacle."
Your heart sinks, you look at Luke. He still hasn't looked back at the voice. His eyes are locked on you.
"You should leave", he says quietly.
"You know I'm not going to do that."
Luke exhales slowly, running a hand through his hair. "(Y/N), please."
The way he says your name is different, it's desperate.
Behind him, the shadows twist.
"You know what must be done."
The words echo like a command, making Luke's grip tighten on his sword.
Your chest tightens. "Luke", you say softly.
For the first time since you arrived, his gaze falters - just for a second.
"Don't make this harder than it already is", he says.
"You're the one making it hard."
His expression sharpens. "You think this is easy for me?"
"Then stop", you say.
The word lands between you, the temple goes still.
Luke stares at you like you just said something impossible.
"You don't have to do this", you continue quietly. "Whatever Kronos promised you, whatever he told you-"
"It's not about promises!" Luke snaps.
The sound of anger echoes against the broken stone, but the anger fades quickly, leaving something else behind.
Exhaustion.
"You don't understand", he says more quietly. "The gods don't care about us, they never have and never will."
"I know that."
That surprises him.
You take a small step closer. "But that doesn't mean you have to become the thing you hate."
Luke freezes. Behind him, the presence grows darker.
"Enough."
The voice shakes the room. The shadows behind Luke begin to move, stretching across the temple floor like reaching hands.
"End this."
Luke's sword lifts slowly, your heart stuttering. But he doesn't swing, he's shaking. You've never seen Luke shake before.
"Luke", you whisper.
His eyes close for a second, just a second. Then he lowers the sword. Behind him, the shadows recoil violently.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
Kronos's voice roars through the temple.
Luke turns slowly. For the first time, he faces the darkness behind him.
"I'm done", he says, the words echoing through the ruined hall.
Kronos's presence explodes with rage. "You swore loyalty!"
Luke laughs, and this time, it sounds real.
"Yeah, turns out I'm bad at keeping promises!", he says.
The shadows surge toward him like a tidal wave. Luke turns back to you, and for the first time all night, he looks like himself again.
"You really shouldn't have followed me", he says softly.
"Why?", you swallow.
Luke steps closer. Kronos is still raging behind him, the temple shaking with fury, and somehow that doesn't seem to matter anymore.
"Because now I have something to lose."
Before you can respond, Luke grabs your hand.
"Run", he mumbles.
And for the first time since Kronos found him, Luke runs in the opposite direction of the darkness. ︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵︵‿︵‿୨♡୧‿︵‿︵ hi dear reader! ive been thinking about the idea of luke choosing someone over kronos for DAYSSS and it broke my heart a little so i had to write it! im totally in a luke phase rn, hope you guys like this fic <3 🫶
jealousy is a storm
Percy Jackson doesn't get jealous the way people expect.
He doesn't glare across the campfire or start shouting matches in the arena. Percy has fought monsters, titans, and literal gods. A random camper flirting with you isn't exactly the same category of threat.
But Percy Jackson is still the son of the sea, and the sea has tides.
Tonight, campfire night is louder than usual. Music drifts through the warm summer air, campers are laughing too loudly, and the flames crackle bright against the dark sky. The smell of strawberries and smoke hangs around the pavilion.
You're sitting near the fire, knees pulled up slightly as you listen to a Hermes camper tell a story that is definitely getting more exaggerated with every sentence.
You laugh anyway, and Percy notices across the fire.
He notices because Percy always notices you. He's leaning back on his hands in the grass, half listening to the conversation around him. His expression is relaxed, but his eyes drift back to you again and again without him realizing.
You look happy, that's the part he likes! The part he doesn't like comes a moment later. A son of Ares drops down beside you. He's loud, confident, and the type of person who fills space easily.
Percy's jaw tightens slightly, not enough for anyone else to see, of course. The boy says something that makes you laugh again. Percy can't hear what it is over the noise of the fire. He watches as the Ares camper leans a little closer when he talks, too close for comfort.
The lake behind the cabins ripples quietly as Percy sits up. The boy nudges your shoulder lightly.
"You're pretty good with a sword", he says with a grin. "You should train with me sometime, I could show you a few things."
You smile politely.
"I think I'm doing okay so far, thanks."
Across the fire, Percy exhales slowly through his nose, the water in the lake shifting again.
The Ares camper laughs.
"I'm serious though", he continues. "Jackson's good, but he's not exactly the best teacher, I could probably help you improve faster."
That does it. Percy stands and walks over, you notice him immediately.
"(Y/N)", he says quietly as he stops beside you.
You look up at him.
His expression is calm, but there's something steady in his eyes that makes your chest warm.
"Hey Perce", you say softly.
Percy sits down on your other side, close enough that your shoulders brush. his arm casually resting behind you on the grass. The Ares camper looks between the two of you.
"Oh, hey Jackson."
Percy nods once.
"Hey (Y/N)."
There's a small pause. The boy continues, clearly not noticing anything unusual.
"Anyway, like I was saying", he tells you, turning back toward you again, "if you want real training, you should spar with someone from Ares cabin."
Percy's fingers curl slightly in the grass. The lake shifts again, but not violently, just a little.
You glance at Percy, and he looks calm, too calm.
"(Y/N) already trains enough", Percy says quietly.
The boy laughs.
"Relax, man! I was just offering."
Percy tilts his head slightly.
"I know."
The words are simple, but something about his tone makes the boy pause. Your hand moves slightly in the grass beside you, and Percy's fingers find yours without looking down. You lean your head lightly against his shoulder.
"I'm fine, Percy", you murmur softly.
He glances at you immediately, his expression softening.
"I know you are."
Then he looks back at the boy.
"But if someone makes you uncomfortable", Percy says quietly, "I want to know."
The Ares camper scoffs.
"Why? You gonna start a fight?"
Percy shrugs.
"Probably not."
The lake behind the cabins shifts again, the water lapping harder against the shore, his hand squeezing yours slightly.
"But if I had to choose between saving Olympus or protecting the people I love", Percy continues calmly, "I'd burn Olympus down."
The fire crackles loudly, nobody saying anything for a moment.
The Ares camper suddenly looks less confident.
"Uh", he says awkwardly, standing up and walking away, "I think Clarisse wanted me for something."
Percy relaxes slightly as the tension leaves the air, the lake settling again.
You look up at him, smiling faintly.
"Jealous?" you tease gently.
Percy huffs quietly.
"No."
You raise an eyebrow, which makes his ears turn faintly red.
"Maybe a little," he admits.
Your thumb brushes over the back of his hand.
"I kind of like it."
Percy glances down at you, his expression softening completely.
"You shouldn't", he mutters.
He studies you for a moment, the firelight reflecting in his eyes.
“Because", he says quietly, "it makes me want to do things like this."
Before you can ask what he means, his hand slides gently to the side of your face. The kiss is soft and careful at first. Percy's lips brush yours like he's testing something fragile, like he's giving you every chance to pull away. Your hand lifts to rest against the back of his neck, and Percy exhales softly against your mouth when you pull him a little closer.
That small sound undoes the last bit of restraint he had left.
His arm moves around your waist, steady and warm, drawing you closer against him as the kiss deepens. Not rushed, not rough, just more certain now, like he's finally allowing himself to enjoy something he wanted all night. Your fingers slide into his hair. Percy makes a quiet surprised sound and kisses you again, a little deeper this time.
For a second the world shrinks down to just this: the warmth of the fire, his hand at your waist, the lake quietly shifting behind you.
When you finally pull back for air, Percy's forehead drops gently against yours.
His breathing is uneven.
"You're trouble", he murmurs.
You smile.
"You started it!"
Percy laughs softly, still close enough that your noses brush.
“Yeah, worth it.” he says.
And behind you, the lake ripples once before settling again. Because the sea prince already knows exactly what he's protecting.

sit down, please
Will notices things before anyone else does.
He notices when campers limp slightly after training. He notices when someone's smile is forced, and he definitely notices when you try to pretend you're fine. You walk into the infirmary like nothing is wrong, but he's already looking at you over the rim of his clipboard.
"What happened?", he asks immediately.
"Nothing", you say too quickly.
He raises an eyebrow. "(Y/N)."
You sigh and sit on one of the beds. "It's just a small cut, it's not even bad."
Will steps closer and gently takes your wrist before you can protest. His hands are warm and steady, and he examines the scrape on your arm with focused eyes.
"You call this small? You're bleeding...", he says.
"I've had worse."
"That's not the point."
There is no anger in his voice, only concern. He cleans the wound carefully, and although he works quickly with everyone else, he slows down with you. His touch is careful, and he keeps glancing up at your face to check your reaction.
"Does it hurt?", he asks.
"A little.", you wince.
He hums softly and concentrates, a faint golden glow warming your skin, and the sting fading.
"You don't have to push yourself so hard", he says quietly.
You look at him. "You push yourself hard too, Will."
"That's different."
"How?"
He pauses, and for a second he looks less like the confident healer everyone relies on and more like someone who worries constantly.
"Because I can handle it", he says.
"So can I."
He studies you for a moment, and then he nods slowly. "I know you can, I just don't like seeing you hurt."
His thumb brushes gently over your wrist before he lets go. Will is affectionate without even realizing it: he adjusts your sleeve for you, he tucks loose hair behind your ear, and he stands close enough that your shoulders touch.
"Promise me something, (Y/N).", he says.
"What?"
"If you get hurt, you come to me first, not after, not when it's already bad."
You smile softly. "I promise."
He exhales in relief, and then his expression shifts into something lighter. "Good, because I would hate to have to track you down."
"You wouldn't!"
"I absolutely would."
You laugh, and his face brightens at the sound.
When the infirmary is quiet again, he sits beside you instead of going back to his paperwork. His knee brushes yours, and he doesn't move away.
"You know.. You don't always have to be the strong one.", he says thoughtfully.
"I know."
"I mean it, you can lean on me."", he insists gently.
You rest your head against his shoulder without another word. He stills for a second, and then his arm comes around you naturally. His hand rests against your side, warm and steady.
"I’ve got you, (Y/N)", he murmurs.
You close your eyes. "I know."
Will presses a soft kiss to your temple, and when he stays there, holding you in the quiet warmth of the infirmary, you realize that being with him feels less like surviving and more like resting. ︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶
you don't have to leave
Nico never chooses the center of anything.
At campfires, he sits near the edge. During meetings, he stands slightly behind everyone else. He has a habit of positioning himself where he can see everything without being seen too much, and tonight is no different.
The fire is loud and bright, and campers are laughing too hard at jokes that aren't that funny. Music drifts through the air, and sparks rise into the dark sky. Nico sits a little apart from the main group, his expression calm but distant.
You notice, because you always notice.
Instead of calling his name or waving him over, you simply walk across the grass and sit down beside him, close enough that your shoulder brushes his lightly.
He glances at you for a second, then back at the fire.
"(Y/N).. You don't have to stay here", he says quietly. "You'd probably have more fun over there."
"I'm exactly where I want to be,” you reply, smiling softly.
He studies you for a moment as if he is trying to decide whether you mean it. You let the silence settle between you. Nico doesn't need constant conversation, he needs presence, he needs someone who doesn't expect him to perform.
After a few minutes, you feel his hand shift slightly in the grass beside yours, his fingers hovering near yours but not touching. You move your hand just a little closer, he notices. Slowly, but carefully, he lets his fingers curl around yours. His grip is light at first, almost unsure. When you squeeze back, it becomes steadier.
The tension in his shoulders eases.
"I don't really like big crowds", he admits, keeping his eyes on the fire.
"I know", you say softly.
"You don't get tired of this? Of me wanting to leave early?", he asks.
You shake your head. "No, Nico, I don't."
He is quiet for a while after that, his thumb moving gently over your knuckles, almost absentmindedly.
"Sometimes I think you should be with someone easier", he says eventually. "Someone who doesn't disappear when things get overwhelming."
You turn toward him fully, your knees brushing his.
"I didn't choose easy, I chose you", you tell him.
He looks at you then, really looks at you, and something in his expression softens. Nico doesn't blush easily, but his gaze drops for a second before returning to your face.
"You're not scared of me?", he asks quietly.
"Not even a little. You're not what I'm afraid of.", you answer.
His fingers tighten slightly around yours, and this time, he's the one who leans closer. His forehead rests gently against yours, the noise of the campfire feeling farther away now, like it belongs to a different world.
"I'm not good at saying things", he murmurs.
"You don't have to be", you say.
He hesitates for just a moment before leaning in. The kiss is soft and careful, like he is making sure you are still there. When you respond, when your hand lifts to rest against his cheek, he relaxes.
When he pulls back, he doesn't move far, his hand is still holding yours.
"Stay", he says quietly.
"I am", you reply.
And for once, Nico doesn't look like he is preparing to leave, he looks like someone who finally feels allowed to remain. ︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶
leo valdez as your boyfriend would include…
• pretending he's smooth when he absolutely isn't. he'll flirt confidently and then immediately overthink it later like, was that weird? that was weird, wasn't it?
• building things for you instead of saying how he feels. if you mention being cold once, he'll make you a tiny self-warming bracelet. if your weapon breaks, he fixes it before you even ask.
• acting like he doesn't get jealous, but going suspiciously quiet when someone laughs a little too hard at your jokes.
• using humor as armor. if he gets nervous or vulnerable, he'll crack a joke first. you're one of the only people who notices when the jokes are covering something real.
• staying up way too late working on projects, and secretly loving when you sit nearby just keeping him company. he won't say it out loud, but your presence makes him calmer.
• talking a mile a minute when he's excited about something he's building, and lighting up when you actually listen instead of zoning out.
• being surprisingly gentle with you. his hands are usually quick and restless, but when he touches you, he's extremely careful, like he's afraid of burning something he really wants to keep.
• acting dramatic about being "the third wheel" in life, but looking at you like you're proof that maybe he finally belongs somewhere.
• randomly blurting out compliments when you least expect it. "you're really pretty, you know that, right?", and then immediately pretending he didn't just say that.
• making you laugh on purpose when you're stressed. if he can get one real smile out of you, he considers it a win.
• leaning into you casually during downtime. not clingy in a loud way, but constant little touches - including knees bumping, shoulder nudging, and his fingers tapping yours.
• pretending he's fearless, but holding your hand a little tighter before something dangerous.
• getting flustered if you praise him too sincerely. if you tell him you're proud of him, he'll laugh it off at first, then go quiet later because it meant more than he expected.
• carving tiny initials or symbols into things he builds for you. nothing obvious, just small proof that it was made with you in mind.
• being protective in a scrappy way. not towering and intimidating, more like, "I will absolutely throw myself into chaos if you're threatened."
• sometimes doubting why you chose him, especially when he compares himself to others. he won't always say it, but if you reassure him, it sticks with him for a long time.
• looking at you like you're not just someone he just likes, but like you're someone who sees him, and to him? that's scarier than monsters.
• loving you loudly in private and playfully in public. ︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶
luke castellan as your boyfriend would include…
• casually teaching you things he doesn't teach anyone else. tricks with knives, how to read people correctly, how to move quietly at night, the list goes on. it's not romantic on the surface, but it's very intimate. he doesn't share knowledge unless he trusts you completely.
• testing you sometimes. not in a cruel way, but in a "i need to know you'll stand your ground" way. if you challenge him, he actually respects you more for it.
• never bragging about you, but correcting anyone who underestimates you immediately. he'd to it calmly, without raising his voice, and somehow that's worse.
• listening more than he talks when it's just the two of you. Luke doesn't open up easily, but he pays attention to everything you say. weeks later, he'll reference something small you mentioned once.
• giving you this look during strategy meetings when someone says something stupid. it's just a quick glance, something like a shared understanding.
• standing very still when he's jealous. he goes quiet, his jaw tightening and his eyes sharpening. he doesn't interrupt, he just makes it known he's watching.
• not liking when people touch you casually. he won't make a scene, but afterward he'll ask, very evenly, "are you okay with that?" He frames it as concern, which it is, but it's also something else.
• trusting you with secrets before he trusts you with affection. emotional vulnerability comes slowly, and physical closeness comes easier. but if he tells you something he's never told anyone else, that means everything.
• pretending he doesn't need reassurance, but sleeping better when you're there. he'll never say it out loud, but you'll notice he relaxes faster.
• arguing with you intelligently instead of shutting down. he doesn't avoid conflict, he wants you to push back. if you just agree with him to keep peace, he gets frustrated.
• being extremely deliberate when he kisses you. he doesn't kiss you in a way that's rushed or careless, he thinks through it first, because he wants you to feel chosen, not claimed.
• keeping track of who wrongs you, not obsessively! just..mentally noted.
• letting you see him hesitate, which is rare. most people see luke as confident and composed. If he shows you doubt, it's because he trusts you to hold it.
• noticing when you're watching him too closely. he'll tilt his head slightly and say, "what?", but there's a softness there that he doesn't show anyone else.
• loving you in a way that feels steady, thoughtful, and intentional - like he weighed the decision and still picked you anyway. ︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶
Read fanfics and say fuck character Ai
When I try to find a good fic but only find pedophilia, incest, zoophilia, rape, forgiven infidelity, a y/n who plays the victim, a y/n who calls the character 'daddy', a y/n who is too shy or stutterer, who doesn't value themselves, who cries over anything, who acts like a child...
Bro, I'm not lying. A while ago I was on Ao3 looking for something about Fushiguro Megumi when an apparent 'obscenity' appeared. It was a damn Megumi writing using her dogs on the reader.
That shit traumatized me. I hope they've deleted it.
im so sick of ai writers on this app. ill stand up and name of of em- i was reading a marauders one from @roze-latte-zz and the writing seem3d SUPER off (the constant use of hyphens, big descriptive, and the whole "its not ___, its ___" that ai loves. So I commented asking if it was ai and they deleted it so I messaged them privately and ran their fic through ai checkers- it came up as near 100% multiple times. and instead of telling me it wasn't ai, they just blocked me. avoid any ai writers and stop ruining this earth and just be creative for once in your life.
percy jackson as your boyfriend would include…
• reaching for your hand automatically. if you're walking next to him, his fingers are finding yours without him even noticing.
• pretending he's not clingy when he absolutely is. he'll throw an arm around your shoulders and say "what? this is normal!", meanwhile he hasn't let go of you in twenty minutes.
• standing slightly closer when someone flirts with you, but never speaking over you. he trusts you, but he likes being a solid and steady presence next to you.
• always asking "you okay?" after training. not because he thinks you're weak, but because he worries about you.
• getting distracted mid-conversation because he's staring at you. when you call him out, he panics for half a second and then just shrugs like, "yeah, so?"
• being chaotic in public and soft in private. in front of camp he's dramatic and loud, but when it's just the two of you? he's quieter, gentler, and his voice drops without him realizing.
• falling asleep on you constantly! at the campfire, under trees, swell as after training. he claims he's "just resting his eyes", but two minutes later he's fully asleep with his head in your lap or on your shoulder.
• protective in the way that matters. if someone insults you, his jaw tightens. if someone tries to talk over you, he lets you handle it first. he steps in only if you want him to.
• memorizing small things about you without even realizing it. he remembers your favorite weapon, your favorite snack from the dining pavilion, and the way you take your nectar.
• sitting so close your thighs touch during meals. not because he's trying to be subtle, but he just likes knowing you're there and close to him.
• getting embarrassingly happy when someone casually refers to you as his girlfriend. he tries to act normal about it, but he smiles to himself for the rest of the day.
• whispering "I've got you" before quests.
• being ridiculously proud of you. if you win a sparring match, he talks about it for hours like it was his own victory.
• kissing you softly before training like it's a good luck ritual. and if you roll your eyes? he just grins and does it anyway.
• looking at you like you're the calm part of the ocean, like no matter how loud the world gets, you're the place he comes back to. ︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶ hello dear reader!
