The devil palace’s Aruji is only seen during parties at night.

With hypnotizing eyes, as red as the crimson moon.

One look at them, and you’ll be mesmerized.

You’ll rarely see them during the daylight hours.

Rumours say that the Devil Butler’s Aruji is not human…

1. Vampire Aruji is frustrated that they couldn’t see how they look from the mirror or film, due to silver in olden day camera and mirror, so instead of photography, Shiro would be the one to take a portrait of them and Flure would coordinate the outfit, while Yuuhan would help put makeup if needed. If there would be a picture with everyone, Shiro would be the one to draw Aruji into the picture, the picture would be framed in Aruji’s room.

2. Vampire Aruji would look at their reflection from the water (a wash basin for Aruji to wash their face, the main butler in charge will have one prepared in Aruji’s washroom, mirrors are removed).

3. All of the silver culteries are replaced with another material, so that Vampire Aruji can still use it to enjoy food made by Lono.

4. Vampire Aruji is sensitive to scents, they couldn’t stand strong smells such as garlic, so Lono would switch up the recipes and change the ones that contains garlic for Aruji and the Butlers. (Vampire Aruji can consume human food, but blood is the main source of their energy, human food is something similar to dessert)

5. When Vampire Aruji first revealed their identity to the butlers, the butlers were surprised at first, but for Aruji, they are willing to offer their blood.

6. The butlers have a schedule to take turns so that the butlers don’t get anemic. (The butlers have the free choice to sign up, they don’t have to force themselves but all of them signed up)

7. According to Aruji, the butler’s blood each has different tastes according to their diet: Boschi’s diet consists of meat, his blood would be thicker, rich in iron.

Nac’s blood, which his diet consists of mostly vegetables and fruits, tastes light and refreshing, more healthy.

Lucas’s blood would make Aruji feel drunk because of the wine.

Berrien’s blood is like a sweet black tea, soothing and fragrant.

(They would all try to eat with more nutrients, which is another day at for the picky eater butlers to eat the items they have trouble with)

8. Vampire Aruji has small fangs, when they pierce through the skin, it felt like a needle pinch, they prefer to bite on the wrist, rather than the neck, as it can be too intimate. (Unless lover butlers and maybe the lover butler would want them to only drink their blood)

9. Vampire Aruji is as immortal as the Devil butlers, who also would not age and can live a long life together, to the butlers’ relief. They would tell the butlers about their weaknesses against the sunlight and stakes, and the butlers would do whatever it takes to protect them. The butlers felt more relieved because they can live long with them together.

10. At first, vampire Aruji would feel worried if the butlers would be scared of them as they are not human, but the butlers felt a sense of familiarity, as they were also not seen as humans by the townspeople. And they would feel more close with Aruji.

11. Aruji is not good with sunlight, the palace would usually be dark, with heavy curtains covering the windows, and travelling with candles. Ammon might have trouble with the dark rooms, so he would usually be seen in the gardens during the daytime.

12. Aruji feel kind of unease with “cross” items, the butlers who have cross shaped earrings (Haures, Lono, Flure), vampire Aruji seems kind of intimidated and would hide behind other butlers, and the butlers who have the earrings would switch to other earrings whenever they’re with Aruji. (They still want to be their main butler in charge 🥺)

13. Vampire Aruji doesn’t have a shadow, so they would join Lamli and Ammon to sneak up to the butlers to prank them.

14. Aruji can transform into a bat or wolf, and shapeshift. They would sometimes take the form of a bat and sleep on top of Muu’s head (fav spot to nap)

15. Aruji feels close to Shiro because they both have pointy ears.

16. Aruji doesn’t mind the butlers wearing vampire costumes during Halloween, and they would educate and teach them how to become a proper vampire.

17. Aruji would join Nac during the night patrol hours, as they are nocturnal, and they would stroll together with him, having a casual talk.

18. Vampire Aruji would sleep during the daytime, the sunlight made them sleepy and the daylight burns.

If they have to stay awake, it would be at the mansion, or travelling by horse carriage, and a large sun umbrella with coverings away from the sunlight (the robe for the Grosvenor meeting is perfect), but Aruji is seen really groggy and irritated.

19. For afternoon tea time (morning for vampire Aruji), Berrien would prepare the tea, with drops of his blood inside.

20. Aruji can choose to make people into vampires, but they don’t wish to turn the butlers into vampires unless they ask to.

21. They do have the power to charm others, but they did not use that kind of power on the butlers, they gain the butlers’ trust by themselves.

22. When the butlers got hurt, bleeding, vampire Aruji would have to bite down on their hand, just to hide the urge to drink their blood. The smell of blood made them dizzy.

23. Since the angels come during the daytime, vampire Aruji would be completely covered with robe, and they would be in the tree shade, unlocking the butlers’ powers.

24. Lucas is fascinated by vampire Aruji, often asking questions about how they are feeling, and he would go through books to see how he can treat Aruji.

25. The butlers would try to stay up late at night to be with Aruji, but Aruji would want them to sleep. They would have night parties and late night drinking sessions together.

Recap: You (the Aruji) died during the angel hunt and was reborn as a civilian in the same world many years after. You still possess your past memories with the butler and you resemble the same appearance as your past self. You also tried to stay away from the butlers as there is a new Aruji with them. You currently work as a regular toy seller and also worked at your parents’ cafe. It all changed when an angel was in town and the butler came to your rescue.

“Are you alright?”

His strong gentle voice still sounded the same after all of these years.

The bright voice who guides everyone.

Yet still has the same kindness like an older brother.

You looked up to Haures’s ruby eyes as he reached out his hand for you.

“Yes…I am alright…thank you for saving us.” You held the child in your arms and made sure the child didn’t get hurt from the impact.

When your eyes met with Haures, his perfect professional expression seemed to be slipping. “Aru…..” he froze at the moment, exactly like the time he thought he saw Tricia.

“Haures, what the hell are you doing standing there?” Boschi hurried Haures as it was time for them to head back.

“Ah…um…..I apologize for staring at you, you…reminded me of someone that was important to me….excuse me, may I ask for your name…?” Haures managed to find the words when he snaps out from his daze.

“O-of course, it’s _____”

“_____….what a nice name. It’s nice meeting you, ______-san.”

As you looked at the butlers’ backs, you couldn’t help but remembered the nostalgia and the bond you used to have.

Ah…that’s good…there’s another aruji that helped them unlock their powers…that’s a relief…I didn’t want them to fight without their powers….or else they’ll get hurt.

You clenched on your shirt, perhaps it was because of the sadness that you couldn’t go back to help the butlers anymore, or the stubbornness. But looking at Haures’ expression, he certainly didn’t forget about you. If you recalled even more, it seems like Haures is overworking himself again…

You were working at your stand again, this time there were stuffed animals placed on the table. As you reached for the box from behind,

“Are these for sale?”

The same familiar voice appeared again.

“Hm?” You turned and sees Haures again. “O-of course…! Ah, please pick any, I haven’t thank you for yesterday! Please pick any that you wish with no charge as thanks!”

“No, no, it’s alright…I can certainly pay, you don’t have to thank me….I was just merely doing what I should be doing.” Haures picked up a small cat plush animal and looks at it intently.

You wondered if Haures needed some help with the gifts, as he did confess before that he doesn’t really know how to choose the best gift.

Maybe it’s for Tricia…? Or maybe it’s for the new aruji?

“Um…” Haures broke the silence. “What would be the best, most suitable one to gift to someone?”

“I would certainly recommend this one! The material is very soft and it’s a popular choice as a gift!”

“Ah…then…I’ll trust the owner’s choice, thank you, _____-san.”

“And for you, I’ll throw in two, so they don’t get lonely.”

You decorated the plush with ribbons and handed them to Haures. And his eyes reflected thankfulness and fatigue.

“Wait…!” You called for Haures. “If…if you do have the time, would you come by our cafe? I also work at my family’s cafe too, and it’s a really nice place to relax. Ah, since, you do work very hard…”

“…..I’ll consider the offer. Thank you very much.”

You hoped that whoever gets the gift likes it.

It wasn’t until after a while that you started seeing Haures at the cafe. Haures usually doesn’t give himself enough breaks, but today was one of the rare days that he asked for a break. The butlers all felt relieved for Haures and urged him to take a day off.

Haures sat by a window seat, somewhere he can look at you subtly while looking outside.

How can someone look so identical to Arujisama…? He shook his head. But it couldn’t be the same person…

A plate of banana muffins and warm tea was placed on Haures’s table.

“Hm…? …..i didn’t order thi…banana muffins…?”

“Ah…um…it…it was a promotion! Banana muffins and tea combination!” You had gotten too used to giving Haures banana muffins that you forgot that you didn’t really know each other until recently.

Haures looked back at you, his eyes seemed to have more light than before.

“T-there’s also spicy soup on sale too…if you’ll like…ah, you strike me as a spicy food type of guy!” You hid your face with the menu, it felt like you’re stepping on your own foot.

Am I trying to let Haures know that I’m the past aruji?

“Ah…I’ll make sure to order that as well. Thank you very much, aru….i mean ____-san.” Haures seemed more relaxed now. A flush of red spread to his face. And he hasn’t even ordered the spicy soup yet. “May I eat the muffin…?”

“O-of course, you don’t need my permission…!”

Haures took a bite and was immediately surrounded by the familiar taste from the first Valentine’s Day given by you. His eyes swelled with tears.

“Ah….! I’ll get you some napkins!” You ran off.

……it was filled with the same delicious cream, just how Haures would like it. The way Arujisama makes it tastes different from how Tricia and the bakery he frequents would make it…but it was a taste Haures had missed dearly.

“Arujisama…..” Haures hungrily took one bite after the next, but soon the muffins were no more. His eyes seemed a little sad.

“Oh wow! S-should I bring more for you?” You left the napkins beside him. *Since when did Haures had a proper meal…?*

“Yes…May I please order the spicy soup? I…think my appetite came back.” Haures blushed even more while he averts his eyes out of embarrassment.

“Of course you can! I’ll make sure to give you a good helping of them.”

Since then, Haures has been frequenting the cafe a lot, even when he’s on patrol. He would run in and look at you, and maybe order something quick, before he’s off again. It was as if the cafe was another home for him, and his important person is there again.

You did learned a lot more about how everyone is doing at the palace more.

“Please make sure to rest too, Mr. Haures.”

“Ah…you don’t really need to call me by Mr….just call me Haures.”

The more Haures observed you, the more notes he takes.

He wanted to make sure he’s 100% certain. But if this person wasn’t Arujisama…and just someone who’s similar…wouldn’t that be rude to Arujisama….? Haures wonders if he could experience this happiness again, and he was quickly brought down by his uncertainty.

And one day, he finally took the courage and he took your hand. Haures quickly noticed how bold his actions were and he quickly released your hand and blush heavily. “I’m sorry…” in which the other party also feels the contagious shyness.

“I might not be correct…but I have to make sure.” Haures looked at you in the eyes with a serious look, as he would during the aristocrat meeting. “Are you…Arujisama?”

“Ah…how did you know…?” Your voice sounded as gentle as before, with more relief and happiness.

When Haures finally got his answer, he had kneeled before you with both knees on the floor.

“Ah! Haures, you shouldn’t, you don’t have to-“

“I must…I must apologize deeply to you….” His body was trembling with his head down deeply.

“It wasn’t your fault at all! You did your best to save me!”

“It wasn’t enough….i had lost my most important person to me again…”

Raindrops of tears spread on the fabric of Haures’s pants as he sobs quietly. He couldn’t dare hold his head up. Who knows how much training he has been doing since Arujisama’s death.

You held Haures’s cheeks gently, and brushed away his tears away from his tired eyes. Haures has always worked so hard…who keeps pushing himself to the limit and now he’s crying like a wean child begging for forgiveness.

“But now I’m here, aren’t I? I still remember everyone…I still remember you, Haures…and…I’m glad that everyone is still alright….” You gently ruffled Haures’ hair as Haures wraps around you tightly, pulling you in his strong embrace.

“Arujisama……”

Haures could only utter Arujisama from his lips as if like a constant apology….or perhaps it feels really nice to be able to call for Arujisama again.

Arujisama feels so warm…he had remembered their cold hand when he held you before your death.

His hand clenched on your shirt tightly, not wanting to let you go. Only Arujisama could see such a vulnerable Haures.

“Thank you for noticing and saving me, Haures….” You patted Haures’s back. “How did you know…?”

“The banana muffins….it tasted the same as the ones you made for me before…and, as your previous main butler in charge…I know the habits you would do…the more I observe, the more I knew it was you all along, Arujisama. Only you would remember my favourite food.”

Haures tries the find the words again and he mutters, “and only you would tell me not to overwork myself….as I am important as well…”

“It’s true…you always tend to overwork yourself….but I’m glad you started to look better with more rest…and proper eating…!”

“It’s all thanks to you, Arujisama…”

You ruffled Haures’s head and wonders. “Um, Haures…what did you do with the stuffed animal you bought at my stand…? Did you gave it to the new Arujisama…? Or perhaps did you give it to Tricia…?”

“ah…I gave one to Tricia.”

“What a good brother you are…”

“And the other one I gave it to you…”

“Me…?” Ah, it must have been my grave.

“I would buy flowers as well…But it seems that I should buy another to give to you in person now.” Haures softly smiled.

“I would like that…!” You also smiled along with him.

You two held hands together and shared the moment.

“Um…Arujisama…”

“Ah, I’m not Arujisama anymore, Haures…please call me by my name!”

“( )-san…ah…it feels nice being able to address you by name.”

“Hehe…we’re equal…”

Haures breathes in and looks back at you with determination.

“Arujisama….ah no…( )-san, did you remember that if we returned back to just regular man, not as butlers, I would have something I would like to tell you?”

“I did remember that…”

“( )-san…when the time comes, I would love to be with you always.”

“…I would like that too, Haures.”

A drop of sweet blood sink to the bottom of my rose black tea.

The calming aroma swirls around my senses.

My love, my only true love.

Finally, fate has intertwined us together with blood red threads.

It wraps around your ring finger with mine.

Every time, every moment, I fell for you deeply with each of your reincarnations.

Your beautiful voice rings in the back of my mind.

Your sweetest smile that is my saving grace.

The sparkle in your eyes draws me in like the lost butterfly searches for sweet flowers.

My heart has always been with you, for thousands of years and more.

It would certainly be sweet.

Living amongst humans, disguising myself as one of them.

I began to feel more intoxicated and lightheaded, as if all chains are loosen.

“Please get away from me…I don’t…want to hurt you….!!”

My voice quivers.

Please don’t hate me. Please don’t leave me.

Please still look at me with your kind eyes, my sunshine.

I’m afraid to lose you. So, so afraid.

I don’t want to be alone anymore.
