Sometimes I weird myself out

30s butch dyke, CA born and raised, experiencing many adventures in teaching both science and art to at-risk youth. Recently moved to Chicago, not loving it but if any dykes needs a spare room to stay in while going to a convention here - hit me up? Save money, meet my awesome wife, get shed on by our 2 dogs & 2 cats - fun times all around. Do not mistake my job stuff to mean that I am some "Dangerous Minds" or "Freedom Writers" type of teacher. I am not a savior by any means - that has never been my goal. My role is to provide structure and consistency, which the kids respond well to in a behavioral sense. Most of them do not generally like me: We read out loud, we practice with vocabulary - harder science stuff, ALL THE TIME. We do difficult labs with lots of steps and have to write everything down - we fucking work - and they hate it! *Ahem* I do like to be Steve Irwin silly with them, when the timing is right. (They know my theme song is White and Nerdy). We do a 'physics of falling down' activity that involves watching youtube videos of epic falling down fails. Silly can be good, but it doesn't stop me from being a harsh ass bitch when necessary. *****SORRY End of Rant***** I'm interested in Supercorp, OUaT, BtVS, Firefly, Xena, Star Trek Voyager, Dollhouse, Adventure Time, Avatar: The last Airbender, and tons of anime. Anything that has a f/f pairing I can ship, and I'm loving it. I'm not really a blogger, mostly just got tumblr to hit the little heart button, but am down for meeting people and chatting.

Amidst a pandemic when we’re all trapped at home, when we’re working from home, schooling from home, and our only entertainment outlets are online, this is cruel and unacceptable. 1.2 terabytes might not be bad for an individual, but if you’re a household of 3 or more, this will be terrible for you.

This seems really whiny to me. Like, I agree with you, work sucks, but our ancestors didn’t get to browse tumblr at their desks or have the option to gleefully spend their ENTIRE WEEKENDS horizontal on the couch stuffing their faces/watching tv/playing video games/wacking off.  They didn’t have weekends. They just slaved away as fucking peasants from dawn to dusk until they died in childbirth or got the consumption.

I am perfectly happy working 8 hrs a day because I don’t have to:

grow my own food

find my own clean water

heat my house

shit in the woods

Hi, I study social and cultural anthropology. Humans working 40+ hours a week is 100% an industrial revolution thing and was not normal in the early stages of our existence. In fact, hunter and gatherer societies that still exist to this day spend about 15-20 hours a week TOPS working. The rest is dedicated to sitting around and telling stories and jokes, dancing, singing, eating, sleeping, fucking and so forth. Read a damn book.
