പട്ടിണികിടന്ന് മരിക്കുമെന്നായാൽപോലും കച്ചവട സിനിമയുടെ ലോകത്തേക്ക് ഞാൻ കടന്നുപോവില്ല. എൻറെ സഹജീവികളോട് സംവദിക്കാൻ ഞാൻ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത മാധ്യമമാണ് സിനിമ. ഉറങ്ങാൻ എനിക്കൊരു മേൽക്കൂരപോലും വേണ്ട. പട്ടിണി കിടക്കാനും എനിക്കറിയാം. എനിക്ക് ഞാനാഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന സിനിമകളുണ്ടാക്കിയാൽ മതി.

My Neighbors the Yamadas is an anime film directed by Isao Takahata and released by Studio Ghibli on July 17, 1999.

This film is about the daily lives of the Yamada family: Takashi and Matsuko (the father and mother), Shige (Matsuko's mother), Noboru (aged approximately 13, the son), Nonoko (aged approximately 5, the daughter), and Pochi (the family dog).
