I totally forgot to update this with an actual introduction, so here we go!

To start, my name is John and I'm an American living abroad in Japan! More specifically, close to but not in Tokyo. I used to blog here under the name @lockedupandstockedup , but changed it to my current name to be the same as my X handle.

In the last few years, I have discovered/diagnosed as AuDHD. The whole social part of social media can be difficult for me, but I'm trying as best as I can. If I say something strange/weird/out of place, it isn't intentional, I promise! I'm always trying to measure my responses and sometimes wires get crossed.

Vanilla Me: I enjoy music, both listening live or recorded and performing. I've performed for thousands of people as an amateur musician, and I'm still performing now! I'm also a huge gym rat, I am currently trying to build my physique as well as become stronger. I also enjoy playing videogames, as well as tabletop games! (Ask about at your own risk so that I don't overshare on any of those topics.)

Okay you guys are the one group of people I can talk about this to in my native language so here goes.

As someone involved in kink, I completely understand the concept of "no". Either as a full stop, this isn't going to happen, or as a "not right now". Even things people do enjoy can be a "not right now" for many different reasons. All of them totally valid, and I would not cross those boundaries.

As an autistic person, however, the phrase "not right now, next time" can be troublesome. I understand the meaning behind the phrase, and that now isn't a good time, but in the future it can be different. But, using the phrase "next time" automatically creates an event and expectation in my head that the actual Next Time, that thing will happen. I know that will all be dependent on a million of factors, but if someone says "next time" to me, and it doesn't actually happen, I get supper bummed out.

It's crazy to think that it's fully possible for another human being to restrain you and torture you no matter what you do. No matter how careful you are, no matter how moral or upright, no matter how closely you mind your P's and Q's, it is STILL possible for you to end up legitimately trapped. It is unfairness in the strictest sense, but it doesn't matter. Only sheer force matters, and yours wasn't enough to defend yourself. It's not enough to escape those stocks. Another human being wanted to torture you without your ability to defend yourself and the only thing you can do about it is have a full-body panic attack.

Maybe it was always a bad idea to center the "tickle community" around a little country club of privileged weirdos organizing 100+ person tickle orgies that cost hundreds of dollars to attend and are poorly supervised to boot.

I keep seeing those phrases tossed around - "tickle community." "Community leaders." Community of whom? Leaders of what? I didn't sign up for that or vote for any of them. These people may not have invented these labels, but they sure encouraged them and then conveniently put themselves at the top of the heap - and then we all bought in to this crap, for some reason or another. I've been suckered into thinking this way too; I include myself in the audience for this post.

Reality check: There isn't a "tickle community," in any real sense. What really matters is you, your friends, and maybe some folks you follow who post cool things sometimes - that's it. That's your community. Remember that, internalize it, don't let the way social media distorts perception trick you. And stop giving these people undue reverence. Not only do they not deserve it, but more importantly, you shouldn't be giving it to them for your own sake. Have more respect for yourself than that.

In closing, we really need to get cheap public high-speed rail in this damned hemisphere so that we don't have to rely on these "gatherings" for meet-ups that exceed 2 or 3 participants. (Housing costs coming down would help too.)

I think a lot of us are growing too comfortable with cancel culture around here. I've seen a lot of examples where we don't have the best experience with someone, so we automatically go to all our girlfriends and gossip and tell them not to session with that person.

It's getting old.

I understand a partner might let you down in a session or god forbid need to reschedule but that doesn't give you the right to shit talk them and block them on everything. I don't want to hear about it, no one else wants to hear about it. Let me make my own decisions about this person that so-called disappointed you. Don't try to sway my opinion just because they didn't exceed your expectations.

I understand if a play partner is genuinely unsafe and breaks boundaries or hurts you in any way. I'm here to back you up 100%. What I'm not going to do is sit here while you make your little claims and insult someone over nothing because they hurt your poor little feelings. Grow up and deal with it yourselves like adults.
