I've been reading Albert Singlestone by devilspedicure: it got me obsessed with genderswapped Stan, and inspired me to draw a bunch of sketches (second page not from the fanfic itself, it's just my silly extra). You should really go read it: it's fun, wonderfully written, and a clever interpretation of Stan in a different gender and role.

This is the scene is chapter 3 where Sid meets Ford and they spend the night under the stars right after Fiddleford's rehearsal dinner. I asked the artist to pick between this scene or the scene where Sid meets Stan "Andrew Alcatraz" at a bar for the first time and almost mistakes him for Ford! I think this works better as a cover for the work and reflects the overall themes of the story more. It's actually too cute, especially since I make the poor girl suffer so much in the story. I asked for Sid to wear her favorite Gunne Sax dress, even though Lee probably thinks they're overpriced and ugly. If you've read my fic, I hope it's nice to have some supplementary illustrations. I love this piece and I'm so happy with the final result

it is fucking BIZARRE seeing the shift. i've been on all ends of the proship vs antiship discourse. not only do i remember the anti-billford posts, i used to agree with them! then it gets implied and then suddenly the same people that would've been writing essays about how bad it is a few years ago are talking about how it's Based Toxic Old Man Yaoi??? what?????

isn't the main point antis make that shipping unhealthy dynamics romanticizes and normalizes them?? billford's not just abusive, it involves outright psychological and physical torture. antis will say they know that, that they don't romanticize/downplay it, but then they make and share content of bill being redeemed and him and ford missing each other and it's played off as a sweet thing. is that not romanticization? is that not downplaying the abuse? the only thing that's changed is that tbob implied billford was a thing. it's almost as if proshipper and anti are ill-defined terms that change between person-to-person and depending on context, and judging someone's ethics based on what poorly-defined fandom term they identify with is stupid, or something.

i'm not even saying you have to identify as a proshipper if you like billford. i consider myself neuship and my otp is stancest. but you sure as fuck can't consider yourself an anti unless you're experiencing some crazy cognitive dissonance.
