Mostly cloudy with some occasional drops of rain. The surface of the water was covered with some kind of film and a lot of pollen, so it was harder to see below the surface than usual. Found one 1 cm small newt larva, one adult northern crested newt and two smooth newts. Saw 3 small grass snakes, two of which were soaking up the sun on a small rock in the pond. Also saw a cat for some reason…

Clear skies. Found 14 smooth newts, several in groups of 2-3, several males in mating dress. 5 Northern crested newts, at least one male in mating dress. Also observed two small grass snakes (Natrix natrix) of less than 50 cm in length.

No ice left, weather was mostly clear. Only two smooth newts where observed. Also found a grass snake (Natrix natrix) at least 50 cm long.

First observation of the year, a circular piece of ice with about 5m in diameter is still on the pond. Saw about 3 salamanders one of which seems to be a male following a female. All observed salamanders seems to be smooth newts.
