The nightmare scenario of the internet-connected smart home is real.
Heads up for anyone who has samsungs smart home. Reasons why we shouldn’t depend so much on technology lol
A week before Earth Day, Apple has changed the leaf on its logo at retail stores to green, and also provided retail employees with green shirts. Apple's website is also prominently featuring "Liam," the robot that the company uses to quickly disassemble devices for recycling.
I read that apple also uses 100 percent renewable energy and 99 percent of their paper packaging is recycled!
"It creates a whole new level of attention."
The city of Augsburg in Germany embedded traffic lights in the pavement for the pedestrians busy looking at their phones. They have installed this traffic light after an incident where a 15 year old girl was killed by a tram because she was distracted by her smartphone while crossing the tracks. There are mixed responses to this idea of embedding traffic lights on the pavement to decrease pedestrian deaths. Some think that the money was well spent and others think that "the project was a waste of taxpayer’s money.”
I think this is a project not worth investing in. I think this project is encouraging people to be on their phone which may lead to an increase on pedestrian deaths. I would like to follow up on this and see if this project will actually work the way it was made to do.
A decade ago, as a foreign correspondent traveling through South America, I witnessed cellphone technology’s march across the globe-- to a remote corner of the Peruvian Amazon, where even...
This is so true! I remember when I had to carry heavy textbooks to school. Teachers would try to make it easier for the students by making photocopies of the chapters but that just wasted a ton of paper and as we cover more chapters the weight of the photocopies eventually equaled out to the weight of a textbook. Now all my textbooks are accessible online! It saves so much back pains and trees lol. Also it because i can open it on my phone, I can read and study for my classes wherever I am!
From the way it works to the way it looks, Apple Watch is an essential part of who you are.
I think smart watches have been something that hasn’t really caught the trend. Its been around for a couple years now and I still don’t feel the need to get a smart watch. I think this may be because we always have our phone with us and all the technology on the smart watches are offered on the phones. I think there has to be a killer content the smart watch have the iPhone can’t do in order for it to become more popular.
I think its interesting how watches are somewhat old style (vintage? can’t think of a good word to describe it lol). Now watches are used more as a fashion item more than an essential technology used to check the time. Its interesting how apple is tying bring back this old technology and trying to make it new again. I read that apple watches are selling more this year than last year but I still thinks its not a must have for everyone.
What if it could be easier and safer for everyone to get around? To start, we’re building a prototype vehicle that’s designed to take you where you want to go at the push of a button–no driving required.
I think this is a little scary. We all know technology isn’t perfect and it fails. Will this really prevent more car accidents? I don’t think I can really trust google self-serving cars and it will definitely make me uncomfortable seeing these cars in the street. Im not yet accepting of this kind of technology. I haven’t seen any ads for self driving features in any American TVs yet but I’ve seen it a lot on Korean tv shows. I really hope this doesn’t become the next big thing lol
Guessing the location of a randomly chosen Street View image is hard, even for well-traveled humans. But Google’s latest artificial-intelligence machine manages it with relative ease.
This is interesting but I wonder what it can be used for.
The demand for virtual reality gear is determined by its uses in the medical, military and entertainment markets. Learn about the advantages and disadvantages of devices like head-mounted displays.
I want to try it but I wonder how this will affect my eyes. I’m a little worried especially after reading the about children getting cross eyed due to having their smartphones so close to their faces. Ever since reading that article I have been trying to keep my phone about 10 inches away from my face when surfing the internet on my phone lol

Museums in the future?
The painting might look like an authentic Rembrandt, but it was made using data, algorithms and a 3D printer.
Should this be considered art?
I feel like artworks are about the thoughts and emotions the artist wanted to express and I think this goes against that. By making this I think it looses the meaning of the painting and Im not sure why this was created and what it can be used for. I guess this can be used to remake some famous paintings and display them in a museum but I still think it defeats the purpose of making an painting.
Games are fun, but Google's art tool is a system seller—in spite of learning curve.
TILT BRUSH!! I think this is really cool! Something I defiantly want to try. I think technology really affected art over the years. It created many professions and now its a normal tool artists need just like a paint brush and paint. Maybe in the future similar technology should be made for instruments and music and allow people to learn and play instruments like the way artists are painting on tilt brush.
More than six decades after the Turing Test was first proposed it continues to influence artificial intelligence research.
The idea artificial intelligence started in 1950 thanks to Alan Turning who was very ahead of his time! The turning test is an evaluation of how well technology can communicate similarly as humans. Now AI very advanced due to deeplearning which was inspired by neuroscience. This type of learning method is used in Watson and AlphaGo. Because of deplaning technology is outsmarting humans! Its scary to think that we are now at the point where technology can beat the humans.
Although machines are now capable of moments of genius, humans have hardly lost the ability to generate their own. In the future, we'll create them together
AlphaGo beat one of the best Go player, Lee Sedol, in a 5 match game of Go. AlphaGo won the first 3 matches and secured the victory but lost the fourth match on Sunday.
Before the match, AlphaGo was not only fed 30 million moves of expert Go player but it also collected moves from the matches it played itself. This trained the system to examine the potential results of each move. It understands how humans play, but it can also look beyond how humans play to an entirely different level of the game.
Despite this training Lee Sedol made a move that took AlphGo by surprise which helped Lee Sedol win the third match. Although Lee Sedol ultimately lost the four out of the five matches, I think still its amazing how he was able to win one of the matches.

Smartphones have sidelined digital cameras and other special-purpose devices. Now Google thinks mobile phones will shove virtual-reality headsets like the Oculus Rift into the shadows, too.
Google Cardboard is transforms any smart phones into VR (virtual reality) headset! It is cheap and affordable so that anyone with a smart phone can buy and tryout and experience VR.
