Re: your observations of lesbians in SPN fandom being Jensen stans and anti-JP/calling JP ugly -- I'm a lesbian who's always thought both Jensen and Jared are highly attractive, and if you're only going by the show, especially in early seasons, JP actually has the softer look, in my opinion. Aesthetically speaking, there is absolutely nothing feminine about either one of these guys and never has been. I think I've always leaned toward JP, even if just a little, because I could always sense that out of the two, JP is the kinder, more sensitive, more freely emotional, less-concerned-with-maintaining-a-heterosexual-and-masculine-image guy. Personality-wise, he's actually the one with the more stereotypically "feminine" traits, though I hate to even say it that way because gendering personality traits is bullshit. Anyway, just my two cents.
Maybe my Tumblr is more Dean stans than Sam stans, I don’t know. I’ve just seen a lot of people who aren’t attracted to cis men calling masculine looking men ugly- and I’m like- okay but maybe he’s not ugly maybe you’re just not attracted to men lol! But this is a great ask because you said you think they’re both attractive- which… I agree and so do a lot of others.
I do actually agree that Jared makes the least effort to appear to be, at least my understanding of ‘macho’. I think he’s sorta a sporty guy so he has that locker room demeanour with other dudes where it’s all slaps on the butt and play punching but he’s not afraid to go in for a kiss on the cheek or say he loves them or make jokes about their relationship that could sound ‘gay’ to more conservative men. He also says things like “I cry all the time” whenever guys imply that men shouldn’t cry. He talked about it at a convention once. Jensen describes Jared as ‘an emotional guy’.
I also hate to gender personality types because I think we all contain multitudes. My personal thoughts about Jensen is that he’s not actually bothered about being perceived as soft, he’s just more of a stoic personality type. Also- the fact that there’s been an obnoxious and relentlessly boundary crossing effort by some people in fan spaces to hyper-sexualise the idea of him with other men when he is actually just a regular heterosexual dad who happens to be very attractive and in the public eye- is probably annoying for him!
I mean as a lesbian (and I realise there are COMPLETELY different dynamics for a straight cis white guy and a lesbian so sorry if this is offensive, this is just a thought experiment) I imagine it would be really irritating for people to say you were secretly having a heterosexual relationship with a friend, or tweet things about you like “I just wanna see a dick in her mouth”. “I just wanna see a dick in his mouth” was actually a tweet about Jensen I didn’t make it up.
I think he can be annoyed by all of that without it ever making him a homophobe like some people insist.
I think people like Jared who are openly and unapologetically affectionate and emotionally transparent do a lot to challenge toxic masculinity. He’s obviously fucked up a few times, but on the whole I think he’s done a lot for guys who are emotional and don’t have a male role model that is accepting of that or reflects that- and I think it’s a good thing and men would actually be less shitty if we could stop raising them with the idea that the best way to be a ‘grown up’ and ‘a man’ is to pretend you have no feelings at all.
Yeah, do not even get me started on how fucked up it is for mostly heterosexual women to fetishize male homosexuality in their fangirling over conventionally attractive heterosexual men. That tweet you mentioned is gross. It’s not that I’m particularly protective over het male celebrities, even the few I like; grown-ass men can take care of themselves. But my issue is the blatant prejudice against actual homosexuals that fuels these het and bi female fans in their obsession with heterosexual male celebrities and the heterosexual male characters they play. These women can pretend their sexual fantasies are a form of pro-gay allyship all they want, but it’s always been bullshit that’s easy to see right through. At the end of the day, they don’t project these fantasies on male actors they find unattractive, and they’re certainly not sitting there commenting on heterosexual female celebrities with shit like “I just want to see her eat some pussy already.” In fandom and real life, heterosexual women who have a fetish for gay men are typically just as lesbian-hating as the rest of society. So they can take their fake “I care because I’m a gay ally” crap and fuck off. The fact that JP’s female haters would even insult his looks in the first place betrays the fact that none of this is about JA’s (or JP’s) acting skills or his behavior or who he has portrayed himself to actually be. It’s literally just about his looks. And furthermore, the gay male ships these fans are obsessed with. Which is crazy. And I also have to throw in that without fail, female fans who get obsessed with het male actors/characters like this from a place of sexual attraction and who have a male homosexuality fetish have major misogyny issues in their fandom behavior as well. That usually comes out in the spite they show toward these men’s wives, girlfriends, female characters on their shows/movies, etc. This fandom has had a raging misogyny problem since day one, which doesn’t make it exceptional by any means, but I just have to point out that this always goes hand in hand with the highly attractive male leads/potentially homoerotic and actual homosexual shipping in male-dominated stories.

any lesbian: *exists*
everyone else: ok but you know what would be better? like, just overall chiller and cooler and less annoying to me personally? if you were attracted to literally anyone other than women.
normalize getting your fill for physical affection through reading about fictional characters cuddling
is there a reason I don’t have access to endless amounts of cuddling fics with zero plot 🙄
normalize fictional characters saying they don’t want children and then not inevitably changing their minds later in the narrative~
Celibacy is so powerful. Liberal feminism doesn't want you to know this because it's men pulling the strings behind the curtain, but it's so powerful.
Having EXTREMELY high standards and being a perfectionist when it comes to partners is one of the most self empowering things you can do. Our bodily autonomy is threatened on a daily basis, you can take control back by not allowing anyone who is not up to your extreme standards to touch you.
I completely agree with this.
For thousands of years, women didn't have the right to say no to men. Now we do. There is nothing more powerful, nothing that defies the status quo more, than a woman saying no to men.

What’s he really saying is that he only hunts because he wants to be with his brother. Which is one of the most powerful statements Sam, the kid who always wanted to get out of the hunting life, could make about how important Dean is to him and how much he loves being with him.
