I don’t know what to think about the “They know.” season 3 trailer that was dropped on The Black Tapes Podcast feed
Like yeah, I’ll probably listen to if it really is a continuation of season 3. If they’re trying to fix the disastrous ending, I understand.
But creators who jerk their audience around and expect us to feel grateful and chastened because we fell for the trick series finale... leave a bad taste in my mouth
Ok but now Sammy’s reaction to hearing Ben sing “Can You Hear Me?” in A King Falls Christmas Story is MUCH MUCH SADDER
Strand: I'll cook?
Me: Has this just been a three-season long Hello Fresh commercial
Alex: You're going to drink this bottle of red wine.
Me: Has this just been a three-season long Winc commercial
HOLY MOLY, LIMETOWN’S BACK AFTER 2 YEARS???? It’s like midnight so the creepy trailer especially spooked me but MAN WHEN I SAW THIS IN MY FEED
@ Apple podcast app users:
Does anyone know how to do continuous play on iOS 11.0.3? I’d like to listen to old episodes of a podcast with a huge archive, and so far the only options I can figure are:
Scroll down over like 100 episodes each time an episode ends to select the next one
Manually add every episode to “Play Next” (and hope that I don’t feel like listening to multiple episodes of another podcast because my Play Next would become a mess real quick)
Manually add every episode to a Station, so I can at least separate by show (the best option as far as I can tell, even if it’s very fiddly and cumbersome)
From what I’ve read and tried, there are no Autoplay options for the Episodes tab, the Listen Now tab, or each Show’s tab—you can only autoplay through manually adding episodes to a Station or Play Next.
That doesn’t seem right, so I’m wondering if I’m missing something?
pitchinthelagger replied to your post “I’m really curious about It Makes A Sound! The lead actress is...”
Can relate, I still can't really figure out what this is going amount to from the 2 episodes so far. Currently I'm kinda expecting that Deirdre is gonna be upset by either not getting a tape recorder anywhere or the tape being less than what she's expecting. Also waiting to hear if all the raports she's been reading are just her own or if there really exist some other WF fans in-universe
Yes! Now that there are two episodes out, I’m getting a slightly better idea of the podcast’s concept, and definitely want to keep listening--isolation and loneliness appear to be huge themes (even the tagline of ”if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it--it makes a sound!" is about something happening to someone while they’re alone/unrecognized, and I agree that all the “sources” for her accounts seem to be Deidre herself), and it seems like the story is going to be sad rather than horrific.
I was initially unsure of the genre, since the accounts of spying on Wim Faros creeped me out, the idea of and adult woman making an obsessive show about a 16 year old boy from 1992 unsettled me, and The Other Voice was startling -- but the second episode didn’t give me the sense that it’ll be a horror podcast like WTNV, AID, and WTW.
Admittedly, I’m more curious about The Other Voice in the Attic than finding out happened to Wim Faros though... Also, there was music in the trailer that hasn’t yet been played in any episode--I really hope that isn’t Wim Faros’ music, it’d be such a letdown if we’d already heard the music we’ve been waiting for!
I’m really curious about It Makes A Sound! The lead actress is excellent, the writing has that contemplative Night Vale Presents quality that I love, and the sound design (the sound of Deidre moving around the attic to pick up and put down items, the creaking floor, the birds outside) is wonderfully atmospheric.
But I’m typically not a fan of podcasts that are this ambiguous. If a 30 minute episode leaves me feeling just as confused and unfulfilled as the 3 minute preview did, I’m not going to be motivated to invest another 30 minutes into it. However, Night Vale Presents has built up enough credit with me that I’ll give it another episode or two before deciding if I’ll continue to listen.
I understand that there exist good stories that unfold over the course of multiple episodes, and it’s not as if I want all the themes set out plainly for me in the first ten minutes, but I couldn’t grasp the premise at all. Is the unsettled mood meant to be sinister, or tragic, or nostalgic? Are the episodes going to follow a particular format, or is it just going to be Deidre musing without pattern? In this podcast about music and focused on a musician, are we ever going to hear any music?
tl;dr The premise is too vague to be compelling (yet, I have a feeling I’m going to get invested soon), but the production quality is so stellar that I’m gonna stick around for more
Whatever happens tomorrow, I just want to express my deep and eternal gratitude to the McElroys for creating a story where humor, family, and connection triumph in the face of nihilism and a world that feels like it’s ending -- it’s exactly the kind of story I needed right now.

Is Strand right? Do we see only what we want to see? What we expect to see? Or are there some things in this world that we just can’t, and perhaps won’t, ever understand? And if so, is a little bit of mystery in the world such a bad thing?
I don’t know, but I do know that I’m not finished looking for answers. Not even close.
My promise to you: I’m going to keep looking as long as you’ll keep listening.

also god when will limetown return to me.... r.i.p....
OH MY GOD SAME Limetown and Eos 10 are the two podcasts I will always stay subbed to even though they haven’t updated since 2015.....come back to me......
(I know the creator of Eos 10 has health issues so I’m very happy to wait for however long it takes for season 3! But Limetown is on hiatus bc of a book deal or a tv show or something??? Kind of a bummer.)
I listen to....a lot of podcasts.........
This isn't even including the ones I unsubscribed from because they are finished/on hiatus (The Message, The Deep Vault, In the Dark, Someone Knows Something), the ones I dropped/fell behind on (Archive 81, King Falls AM, Invisibilia, Up and Vanished, Stranglers), and the ones I only listen to periodically (Sleep With Me, The Worst Idea of All Time)............
I'm always open to recs, though!!
