This episode felt a bit underwhelming… and recycled kind of vibe? Another Adrien (I much preferred the PV version), another Emilie, same villains as S1, evil twin cliché concept and all of that. 

Only interesting thing is GabeNath and not even a Good Thing because Gabriel is cold af. 

Top 3 Nice Things: Marinette’s Confession, Nathalie Kicking Ass and Ladybug Punching Felix. 

The Rest? Bland AF. Felt like an early S1 for me.

Cheer up, Gabriel stans! Chat Blanc is nothing more than a worst-case-scenario. I see no other reason why they had to make this alternate universe thing happen. This episode shows where we are right now. Gabriel may not be as forward in his process of redemption as we thought he was, but there is still hope that he will get there.

And when the time comes for the true revelations, this episode will be nothing more than laughing matter.

Tbh full tea but if Chloe didnt get a redemption arc because “she is iredeemable” then Gabriel, especially after this episode, does not deserve redemption either and I’ll be hella salty if he does get one :/

If you are worried about Chloé’s redemption arc, I can offer you some consolations. :) First of all, my number one rule in every fandom: don’t believe the words of the creator of a show that still runs. If they would answer every question genuinely, they would spoil the fun. Try to see them as poker players, that really helps sniffing out intentional misleading.

Second of all, Chloé’s fallback during her redemption arc is completely normal. If you are interested in this particular narrative tool, check out Hello Future Me’s video essay titled “On Writing: Redemption Arcs” on YouTube. I firmly believe that Chloé’s redemption will happen, don’t worry. I don’t want to involve spoilers, but if you watched Miracle Queen, check out what happens around 16:55. I think Chloé will soon reach her real turning point. ;)

On a side note, I saw a very good explanation of how Chloé’s redemption so far was not a real redemption, it was a very interesting stuff and I was an idiot for not saving it for future reblog. My issue is mostly the idea that Gabriel could be given a redemption arc. he, of all people, does not deserve that.

The fact that, all throughout Chat Blanc, Ladybug keeps calling him Chat Noir, and even use his name when it’s “time to de-evilize”, which she hasn’t done for any villain before, how happy she is when she finds out how to fix everything and prevent whatever tragedy has gotten him akumatized; and then flashing forward to her jumping to his rescue in Ladybug even though, per his words, he could have managed on his own and she had Mayura right where she wanted her. Ladybug cares so freaking much about her chaton, she hasn’t and won’t ever give up on him, and his presence and support are so freaking important to her. I’m. Their relationship is too precious, I’m cry.
