what a beautiful creature
You can help injured koalas by sewing mittens for them As rescuers save the slow-moving marsupials from a recent rash of bushfires in Australia, an animal-welfare group is asking people to sew special mittens to help rehabilitate the koalas’ scorched paws.

what everyone wishes they were doing on a monday
Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) - The koala is a small tree dwelling marsupial found only in Eastern Australia. Ranging from 65 - 82 cm in length and weighing in at 4 - 15 kg, this little bear like cutie has become a popular crowd favorite. The koala is easily recognizable by its large, wide face with a smooth black muzzle, and its soft gray to gray/brown coat. Living nearly all of its life in eucalyptus trees and feeding at night for about 4 hours, the koala spends most of its remaining time taking naps wedged tightly in a branch fork. Occasionally, but not often, the koala will descend down only to change trees or to nibble on soil or bark. Dominant males mate with females and copulation is usually brief, accompanied with a few bites and scratches. After 35 days, a single offspring crawls into its mother's pouch where it will stay to suckle for up to 6 months. Afterwards, the baby will hang on to their mother's back until it is ready to live on its own. Once common in Australia, the koalas decline has increased due to deforestation, disease, and traffic accidents. Conservation efforts have been successful though and koala populations are increasing as a result.
Koala Fun Fact - Despite its teddy bear appearance, the koala is known to be extremely feisty and is quick to bite or scratch at anyone or anything. Don't let them fool you! This doesn't mean we still can't admire how adorable they are.
