Alice hadn’t even realized who she was snapping at until she looked over at Sam. Fuck. Immediately, Alice’s stomach dropped and she felt ashamed, afraid of what Heather might say if she were there. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry…. I.. I didn’t realize it was you talking, I wouldn’t have said that…” she said, turning her attention away from the TV. “I’m so sorry, Sam.. It is okay to talk to me, I just… I’m having a shit day and I didn’t think it was you that I was snapping at… I’m sorry.” Great, now Sam was going to be afraid of her. She knew that Heather would want people to keep an eye out for Sam but how could she if Sam didn’t trust her?
There was a very subtle nod of her head, but Sam remained to retract herself briefly away from the other girl --- it made her anxious when people snapped, made her think of his father’s loud voice and her sister’s red hands, gravely, and she recalled even being nervous around Andie after she’d gone a little bit harsh with the blond dude in the basement. It was just something she couldn’t ever escape, she thought. “Yeah,” she wasn’t sure if she could trust Alice; how was she going to survive without her sister here? She stared at her nails. “Are you -- okay?”
