Attack on Titan (進撃の巨人)

Original animation drawings from Eren Jaeger’s swinging sequence at the end of episode #11. The animation above contains 35 key frames, but TV Animation Attack on Titan Art Works Vol. 03 (Amazon US | JP) collects a remarkable 164 sequential frames from this bit of animation.

Here are some layout sketches for Lemony Snicket.  The Kids are at the bank, waiting outside the manager’s office.  This is a good example of staging, and how I like to search for different views of the same subject. You have to try things out until you find the one view that tells the best story, and the one that inspires you to tackle it as a painting.

Three years ago I graduated high school with no idea what I wanted to do with my life, and wondering if my art even mattered. The three years I have spent at MassArt so far have been the most rewarding and gratifying years I could ever have. I have gotten to know some wonderful people who I call close friends who share common struggles and goals and have some amazing talent. Animation is my dream, and going somewhere with it will be hard but a fun journey. One more year of school left and I am going to make it the best I can because its worth it, and I have fought this hard to get where I am. Art is everything.

Working on a sketch for a piece I’ll be contributing to the charity auction at Anime Boston next weekend, benefiting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. I won’t be there, but a finished version of these three napping buddies will be. Interesting story: I came up with the idea for this while taking a nap.
