History repeats | Michael de Adder
I've made this post before but I kind of hate how Franz Kafka is tumblr's #sadboy while they never talk about the ways he actually suffered in his life and the way his Jewishness informs this... It all feels a bit callous and dehumanizing to me. I'm not offended by the memes per say but literally... only other Jews talk about the way his Jewishness effected his life and his suffering (hell literally only Jews mention that he like, actually suffered?) and it's just like. Add to the list of famous Jews memeified for laughs.
The thing about “kill pedophiles” and “castrate rapists” and all that is that it’s a flat-out reactionary sentiment that gains a lot of traction in Leftist circles and it goes practically unchallenged because anyone who does challenge it can be accused of advocating rape or sex with children.
Some radfems have found this post and of course they’re treating it with all the nuance such a sensitive subject deserves (telling me to kill myself).
I made a joke a couple years back saying that it seems like for a lot of anarchists, the actual issue with the justice system was that the government wouldn’t let them have lynch mobs. And dear god has that one come true, I saw something just the other day saying that the problem with capital punishment was that the government shouldn’t have the right to kill people, but if you just let me bludgeon people to death with a baseball bat it would be great.
Xanthan Government Structure
The head of the Xanthan government consists of one Primarch, who is selected democratically to serve one lifelong term from among the twelve members of the Council. Councilmembers, in turn, are similarly voted in by the general Xanthan populace, though again these positions are lifetime positions. As such, the day-to-day governing falls under the perview of the myriad different worlds which make up the Xanthan-Allied Galactic People's Republics, though generally policy set by the Council and Primarch does inform these smaller governing bodies.
The twelve Council positions correspond to the twelve ministries or departments they represent:
Ministry of the Sword (war, defense, etc)
Ministry of the Harvest (agriculture, food production, storage, and distribution on a mass scale)
Ministry of Medicine (healthcare etc)
Ministry of Technology (science development, research funding etc)
Ministry of Engineering (maintenance of starports, road networks, public buildings etc—also works with M. of the Fleet to help maintain starships)
Ministry of the Fleet (dedicated governing body of the Xanthan Fleet, a massive armada of warships, civilian cruisers and lifeships, as well as inter-planetary commerce. Has their own dedicated defense force separate from the Ministry of the Sword)
Ministry of the Psychics (magic, also governs over the many religious matters of the Xanthan)
Ministry of the Colonies (oversees the creation and well-being of the many planet-bound Xanthan settlements; ensures peaceful co-existence with other races encountered and negotiates boundaries, territory, etc)
Ministry of the Artist (funding for and creation of the arts, including music, film, etc)
Ministry of the Scholar (education programs and the like)
Ministry of the Culture (ensures the preservation of Xanthan culture; works closely with M. of the Artist, Scholar, and Psychics as well as making and maintaining historical records)
Ministry of Politic (oversees elections, ensures votes are counted etc etc)
As you can imagine, these Ministries often work in cooperation on many projects, such as the Ministry of the Scholar and the Ministry of the Harvest enabling school meal programs throughout the entirety of the Republic.
You may note that there is no ministry of policing or anything similar. This is because among the Xanthan, crime is exceptionally low, due to the fact that they live in superabundance and the vast, vast majority of everyone's material needs are met. Inter-personal violence, such as domestic violence, is mitigated through community support, prevention, and awareness; as such, Xanthan 'police' look very different from what we would consider police to be. And in the cases of farming communities where dangerous animals pose a threat to livestock, task forces exist to provide critter control.
Emergency services, such as disaster relief, fire fighting, etc is handled by groups created and appointed by the Ministry of the Harvest, Healthcare, and sometimes the Sword, but these would be non-militarized as much as possible.
OFFICIAL XANTHAN TIMELINE
A note: Dual calendar: the xanthan year is divided into two 180-day cycles, called Akht (harvest) and Senmarr (sowing). This gives the standard 360 day year, which measures the amount of time in standard galactic days (about 22.3 hours) it takes the xanthan homeworld to orbit fully around its star.
This is the 'standard' calendar used by the Council, military, and space-faring xanthan. There are a number of cultures that use a four-season calendar, and many others that have adopted calendars based on the planets on which different xanthan colonies reside—even adopted from other cultures the xanthan have co-mingled with.
Another note: “ka” or “Kaliktaratr” refers to a passage of ten-thousand years; as such, each time ten thousand years has passed the calandar resets, so that 1 ka 9999 becomes 2 ka 0. The name refers to the xanthan who came up with the system.
Pre-Kaliktaratr (pka) 0: xanthan homeworld is destroyed in nuclear hellfire; survivors struggle to re-establish themselves for thousands of years.
pka 1446: victory over the last Imperial forces of Advenchalt declared after thirty year struggle for liberation. The word “xanthan”, which means “walker”, is officially declared the universal tribal affiliation for all who survived the nuclear holocaust, and the great Rebuilding begins.
pka 8867: the first xanthan space colony is established.
pka 9866: first contact with another space-faring civilization established with Vordites; trade relations begin.
9 ka 608: the Xanthan Galactic Republic is formally declared
9 ka 3112: the Melkiat and Sverden are destroyed, sparking the conflict between the Xanthan Galactic Republic and Hverst Imperiate.
12 ka 1306: Samaranth is born.
13 ka 1218: Samaranth stages a coup against the Xanthan Council, dissolving it and the Xanthan Allied Galactic Republic, forming the Xanthan Republic under her exclusive control.
13 ka 1295: the last Hverst Queen is slain in the invasion of the Hverst homeworld. Shortly after achieving this goal, Samaranth disappears without a trace.
13 ka 1315: the Great War is finally ended with the total capitulation of the Hverst military and State.
13 ka 1316: the Xanthan Allied Galactic People's Republics is formed; galactic community starts rebuilding.
DISASTER! EXPLORATION SHIPS DOWNED IN VICIOUS ATTACK!
XANTHAN GALACTIC REPUBLIC – SAFMAR QUADRANT
A pair of scientific vessels were sunk on a deep-space exploration mission, 400 lightyears from the Hverstet border. This unprovoked aggression resulted in the loss of some 3,000 souls from both the Melkiat and Sverden. Early reports show two launch signatures of hyperlight missile weapons just prior to the ships' destruction. The Xanthan Council went into emergency session earlier this evening, while a number of swordship fleets were dispatched to strategic points in the sector, as well as around the Xanthan homeworld and other key colonies.
The Xanthan Council is reportedly considering a declaration of war, which should be finalized in the next eighteen hours. The Hverst military, meanwhile, has claimed (incorrectly) the ships were in Hverst territory, and early intelligence reports the Hverst navy is mobilizing all along the galactic border.
9 ka 3112. Akht 126.
Samaranth: The Early Years
Little is known about Samaranth’s upbringing, due both to the classified nature of her early training and the loss of records over time. What is known has been pieced together by historians and resonance-regression*, as well as the writing of Samaranth’s squadmate Mateo Bondser (now Honorate-Bondser).
“Sam’s childhood was fraught, that much I could tell when I met her. Her sire was imprisoned for treason when she was twelve, and her mare soon fell out of touch as Sam went off to the Academy. This was a common thing at the time (for a mare to abandon their child in adolescence), it should be noted, but the effect it had on Sam was noticeable. Effectively, she was a ward of the State; the xanthan navy raised her.” - Mateo Honorate-Bondser, written 14 ka 8936; The Samaranth Chronicle.
What is also clear is that Samaranth took to military training with a vigor bordering on viciousness, and her superiors were instructed to cultivate the chaos the Council had sought in her creation. That chaos was only tempered, of course, by Mateo’s friendship with Samaranth, as was again the Council’s intention. Not wanting to create a weapon entirely out of their control, the Council also created Mateo with the intention of protecting the Xanthan Galactic Republic, whose early task was to monitor Samaranth to ensure she did not lose control of that chaos within her.
The efficacy of this was, as the Council would realize all of too late, limited.

*: resonance-regressionm: a magic technique used by historians to collect information from the past and extrapolate from the data. Derived from Selk practices, it is a common way to consult the past, but its accuracy has been debated.
Here are my stars.
Here are my moons and seas. Behold, and look upon a galaxy once filled with life - a myriad of civilizations and peoples ignorant to the fates that would befall them.
It is the year 12 ka 1306. The great War has exhausted the xanthan and their Enemy for nearly thirty-thousand years across the stars. The xanthan are losing, star by star; world by world. Their Council knows this, and are trying desperately to keep the public from realizing it, too.
One day, in the traditional harvest cycle of the xanthan calendar, an xanthan named Samaranth is born on a station transversing the Ekit star circuit. Their birth is long awaited by the Council; first of a secret genetic-spiritual project which, they hope, will turn the tide of the War forever.
Unfortunately, they were right.
