SH and CB’s newly acquired producer status did nothing for the show.

JC/SC has lost whatever chemistry, rapport, and shorthand strategy they had. It’s painful and embarrassing to watch them together. Too awkward and strained.
Jamie wore his kilt but a poignant moment became comical given their bizarre interaction and background music.
SH bombed the pivotal scene of rallying the clan for war. Scene came too early and simple misplaced for it to be impactful.
Broger wedding a snooze fest. I guess one can be retraumatized from rape and have “hot sex”(new hot couple) at the same time. Fraser Ridge’s coping mechanism.
Unrealistic home that Jamie supposedly built.
Unrealistic costume and hair pieces in the backwood of Fraser’s Ridge.
Sex scenes; flipping between JC, Broger, and Murcasta with gratuitous shots of SS’s ass and Cait’s tits. Unnecessary and misplaced. Claire pulling off Jamie’s boots is suppose to be endearing but ended up looking forced. Did not have the intended effect.
RR is still annoying as Roger.
Only Duncan, David and Lauren’s acting are tolerable and have character continuity.
While Sam’s portrayal of Jamie remained true to character in S4 (despite everything else falling apart) Jamie is S5 is just Sam in costume with the same facial expressions and ticks that we see in interviews and more.
Caitriona’s Claire is still S4 Claire. Matronly, patronizing and uninspiring. Not the Claire of the books, not the Claire that inspired legions of book fans.
This show is no longer Outlander as we know it from the books or from S1. It’s deviation and bastardization serves the studio and not fans of JC and the books. It’s simply tragic.
