Some people seems stop watching the scene the moment Sam misses the paper in the trash. On the episode we are shown Sam nears the trashcan as he is about to pick that paper-pice up, but then he is noticing the picture of Dean with mom on Dean's nightstand that distracted him. He looks at it, then he is looking around the whole Dean's room and nods like 'not bad'. He likes that room, he seems being glad that Dean is happy - it made him forget about that paper-pice.
