When he was as young as nine years old, the life-threatening abuse from his peers started when they perceived Adam as "different." At that age, Adam narrowly missed being burned alive by escaping when other children tied him to a tree and doused him in gasoline, intending to set him on fire.
It deeply saddens us to hear of the passings of two teens due to homophobic bullying. Our hearts go out to both Adam's and Alyssa's family and friends.
Yesterday was the world premiere of our lgbt youth documentary, "Same Difference". This feature length documentary shows the difference between learning in a supportive school climate versus an oppressive school climate, featuring stories from Justin Aaberg and Graeme Taylor. It presents the lives of two real-life adolescent boys who identify as gay from a young age.
Justin was just one of nine youths that took their lives while attending the Anoka-Hennepin School District (in Minnesota) between 2009-2011.
"Same Difference" also examines current research on anti-bullying and offers solutions to handling gender and identity issues among adolescents within schools.
So many anti-bullying programs in the US do not even address homophobic language and name calling.

With every passing day, we become more eager to get "Same Difference" out into the world. These stories need to be heard. We hope that together we can become a driving force for positive change.

Excellent graphic.
If you are on instagram....
There is a fraudulent account on instagram by the name of Justinaaberg (all one word). This is not a good account, the person who has created this account is a malicious person causing harm to the Aaberg family and pretending to be Justin. If you are on instagram please message this person and help us get them to delete their account. Thanks.
The majority of anti-bullying programs do not address homophobic bullying. Help us change that. Support "Same Difference".
