Does anyone know anywhere I can watch last night’s Tony Awards online pleeease?
For anyone who might be interested, I've just put up a review of "The Last Five Years" film on my new theatre blog. Have a read and let me know your thoughts. If you like what you see, please feel free to share!
Hi guys!
I very recently set up a new blog where I'll be writing about all things musical theatre (shows I've seen, concerts I've been to etc) I'll also be posting articles expressing my views on vocal technique and different teaching methodologies as well as writing about progress with my own vocal training as I try and get into the industry. I'll also put up any covers I record there as well.
I've kicked things off with a review of Jamie Lloyd's revival of "Assassins" that I saw at the end of January. If this seems like your type of thing please take a look and feel free to share, comment etc/ I'd really like to get involved with others of the same interests. I'll have some more material posted as soon as I can.
Some thoughts on Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
I had the privilege of watching the revival of Sondheim's Assassins yesterday at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London and I can honestly say, I don't think I've ever been more amazed by a production in my life. Honestly, EVERYTHING about that show was perfect, the set design, the direction, the music and of course the incredible cast.
I'll admit, the only reason I booked tickets to see the show was the fact that one of my Musical Theatre Idols, Aaron Tveit was cast in the show. Seeing Aaron live has been a dream of mine since I first discovered him through Next To Normal so when the chance came to see him in London I jumped at it.
Despite Aaron being the main reason I went, I can truly say that Assassins has become probably my favourite show. I was just flawed by the whole thing. Aaron of course was incredible, his voice is even more amazing live than it is on cast recordings but that aside the whole show was INSANE. I was shocked, scared. amused sad and confused and happy all within an hour forty five of my day. The production was completely immersive, with the actors performing literally feet from where I was sat and wondering in and out of the audience throughout. The Menier itself is a tiny theatre off the west end and was PERFECT for Jamie Lloyds vision of the show. As an audience member you felt completely involved in every moment of the show and couldn't take your eyes off the actors.
As I said the cast was just flawless. Aaron was always going to be my favourite but the rest of the cast were right on his level/ Honestly there was not a weak linik amongst them. Catherine Tate was another standout for me. The humour she bought to the role of Sarah Jane More was was done to perfection, the girl did not miss a BEAT with her timing, it was genius.
What I adored about this show was that you get to see the "Man behind the monster" so to speak. We are all used to this historical figures remembered for these hideous acts, but the show really got you to see their human side and actually examine the motivations behind the acts. What's more, you actually find yourself warming to these characters that you really shouldn't like, and yet you do, despite yourself.
I honestly don't have a bad word to say about this show. And to top it all of, I actually met Aaron Tveit after the show and he is the LOVLIEST guy. He was so kind and welcoming and seemed genuinely happy that we enjoyed the show. He made time for everyone who wanted a photo and an autograph and I am honestly so happy that he was EXACTLY how I hoped he'd be. I'm so happy I got to see him before he leaves the show, and I just pray he comes back to London again soon. The man is a true talent of today's musical theatre and is not appreciated enough.
Seriously though, if you have a ticket to the show, you are in for a treat.
Just FLAWLESS.
So I'm seeing Aaron Tveit perform tomorrow and COULD NOT be more excited! Never thought I'd get the chance to see him in a show being from the UK so I am totally thrilled!
rosiecoles95 replied to your post:So I’m EXTREMELY excited to be seeing assassins in...
Im seeing the matinee on the 24th. I worry about it too but I don’t Aaron has missed one of the shows yet and when he done CMIYC he didn’t miss one show so you should be fine :)
That's reassuring, thanks! I was so excited to see him FINALLY do a show in London, I'll be so disappointed if I miss him.. But fingers crossed! Enjoy the show by the way :D
So I'm EXTREMELY excited to be seeing assassins in just under two weeks. But I'm also convinced Aaron Tveitt won't be on..because that ALWAYS HAPPENS TO ME. The person I go specifically to see isn't on for my show.
Seriously though, pray for me. If he's not on for the Sat matinee in two weeks I will cry.
Here is Matt Doyle and James Snyder singing Bare at 54 Below on 12/1/14! This includes their adorable intro. It was so great to hear them sing this live after listening to the album for years! Enjoy!
*Let me know if you want any more audio from this concert or Annaleigh Ashford’s from the same night
So this is one of my favourite things ever.
The Ballad of Booth - Jamie Parker & Aaron Tveit
Assassins - 23rd December 2014 (Matinee)
Can't wait to see this next month!!
Does anyone know where I can watch Aaron Tveit in Wicked online? I'd love to see his full show, but the only links I've found don't work anymore. Can anyone help?
