I think entertainment contracts would be the best type of contract to use to get people to change their behaviors and live healthy lifestyles. Entertainment contracts are able to reach the audience in a more personal level. The goal of an entertainment contract is to “make it enjoyable.” If the audience enjoys watching the intended message of living a healthier lifestyle, i believe they will be more convinced in actually making that change.
A recent time I experienced a “persuasion contract” was when I watched a YouTube video of a makeup guru’s September favorites. Throughout the video, the sender, LustreLux, was showing a few items such as: fall clothes, new foundations, sneakers, skin care products, and nail products. One of the items was an “L.A. girl gel nail polish.” She was convincing the audience to purchase the nail polish because it does not chip, it paints on well, she mentioned that it was an affordable price, and told the viewers where they can buy the actual nail polish.
A time I experienced a “entertainment contract” was when i saw a #FinishIT truth commercial on Nickelodeon. The commercial had entertaining music and videos of cute animals running around. I was emotionally open to that video because I have a dog of my own. The message being sent out to the receiver is that animals are twice as likely to get cancer if their owner smokes. I was definitely convinced to keep my dog away from anyone that smokes and convinced to never smoke at all.
Overall, I believe i was convinced more by an “entertainment contract” because it reached me at a more personal level rather than “persuasion contract” that felt like a business negotiation.
