"What're you doing?" Eddie asked as he drove, glancing over at you momentarily before his eyes went back on the road. The radio played an Ozzy song from a few years back, taking you both back to 1981. Eddie wasn't reminiscing though. He was too focused on you presently.
Pulled out of your daze, you looked at him. "Hm?"
"With your hand," He gestured to you. You looked down at your hand resting still on your thigh.
Once again, you look up at him, this time confused. Before you can say anything though, he speaks again.
"Agh, you stopped," He grumbled. "Did you know you do that? Tap your fingers to music?"
You lifted your hand and looked at it as if it were a foreign object. "Uh.... I mean yeah, I guess. A lot of people do that, Eds," You chuckle, despite feeling a bit flattered he noticed such a small detail. It was one of your little ticks, something you did without thinking much of. You'd done it ever since you'd discovered music. Rock music only made it happen more often.
Eddie pulled up to his trailer and put the van in park, turning to face you more instead of getting out. "No but like, you do it differently. You're completely following the drums in the song."
A sigh left you as you opened the passenger door, anxious to get to that joint Eddie promised you. "Uh yeah, that's kind of the point of tapping your fingers to a song. You follow the beat." You quipped as your feet landed on the gravel.
The driver side door opened and closed with yours and Eddie rounded the front of the van to you. "You don't get it, when I say you follow the drums, I mean it. You hit every beat completely in time. I mean sure sometimes you mess up, but like.... you could be a drummer, sweets. For real." His dark eyes were earnest.
You rolled your eyes and dismissed him, pushing past his form and heading towards the trailer. "Eddie you're being dumb," You reply, thinking maybe this was another one of his teasing jokes he always pulled. A drummer? You? You didn't even take band in high school, let alone know anything about drumming.
Footsteps followed after you as you walked up the steps and you lean over to let Eddie unlock his door.
"I'm being serious! I could play a song you've never heard before and you'd have the percussion down like that!" He exclaimed with the snap of his fingers as he fished out his keys and opened the door for you.
It swung open and you walked in, shaking your head. "Because it's easy!! It's all in the patterns, anybody could catch on to that."
Eddie barked out a laugh. "You'd be surprised, hon. A lot of people don't have a single musical bone in their body."
"What I do isn't music, Ed's. It's just.... me being restless. That's all."
"I don't believe that... here, sit." A hand grabbed your wrist and yanked you over to the couch. You opened your mouth to protest but he gave you a stern "Shush," before he disappeared into his room down the hall.
You leaned over to watch as he walked back into the livingroom and plopped an upside down five gallon bucket in front of you. He then held out two drumsticks, a goofy smile on his face. "Play!"
"Eddie...." You can't help but smile at him despite your patience wearing thin. You cross your arms, glancing warily at the drum sticks.
"Come on, sweetheart, just try! Here, I'll even put on music for you." He tossed the sticks at you, startling you as he went over to one of his many boom boxes and hits play.
The music was far too loud, startling you again. It caused you to finally stand and raise your voice. "Eddie!!"
The music immediately stopped as he pressed the button and he looked at you, not the least bit hurt. Just looking.... baffled. Baffled that you didn't want to explore this.
You sigh and step over the bucket to him. "Look, I.... I'll think about what you said. Really. But tonight just isn't the night...."
Eddie's face softened. He knew the kind of day you'd had at work. Customer service was hell and after more than one panic attack because of it that day, well.... it was the whole reason he'd offered to smoke at his place that night. He wanted tonight to be relaxing and fun for you. Now he understood it wasn't the time to treat you like a guinea pig. It was time to treat you like his friend.
He smiled comfortingly at you. "Alright, alright... I'm sorry. You're right, tonight's not the night." He agreed, then wrapped an arm around your shoulders to lead you to his bedroom. "But one day, it will be.... Let's forget our worries, shall we?"
"Gladly."

Your feet crunched on stray gravel as you passed your garage on your way home from the work day. The large door was open and you paused a moment as you spotted a bucket out. It was full of water and soapy suds. Your family must've caved in and paid that kid down the street to hand wash their car for them. Leave it to the 10 year old to leave out the bucket for someone else to clean up.... That wasn't your first thought looking at it though. Your mind went back to the other night with Eddie and how excitedly he'd put a bucket in front of you to drum on.
Hm.... Maybe you could try it.... it wouldn't hurt. Your house was pretty far from anyone else's out in the rural area of Hawkins, so they would only hear faint banging in the distance. You shrugged. Guess today was the day.
You dumped out the bucket into the grass, suds fanning out, then took a seat on a bench in the driveway. The bucket in front of you, you thought for a moment. You didn't own any drumsticks... turning, you glanced behind you at the wall of tools set up. A couple screwdrivers would have to do.
After swiping the tools, you then put your headset on and hit play on the tape inside your walkman. Immediately, Where Eagles Dare started thrumming in your ears and you smiled. You loved the quickness of this song.
The screwdrivers started moving, beginning in small taps as the pattern of the drums started coming back to you. Soon, the makeshift drumsticks were swinging, hands holding the wrong ends, and you could hear yourself beating the bucket through the headset.
At first you didn't care if you were in time or not. It was fun to let out all your frustration and built up tension from the day by beating a bucket to death. But then what Eddie had said started to make sense.... you were keeping in time with the song, drumming the intricate beat exactly. The smile on your face only grew the longer you went on, closing your eyes and playing song after song after song on your mixtape. It was exhilarating.
After what must've been 15 full minutes of nonstop drumming, sweat on your brow and arms aching, your headset was suddenly yanked off. You gasped and looked up, expecting to see your mother there to scold you for making so much noise.
Instead, there stood Eddie, a huge grin on his face. You look over to see his van in the driveway. How long had he been there?
"See, kid, I told you!! I knew you'd be able to do it! I knew you were a drummer!! Oh we gotta call Garette and have him show you his drum set, he's going to be so psyched to show you the ropes!" He exclaimed, dropping your headset in your lap and jumping up and down in front of you like a child at the zoo.
All you could do was smile back at him, surprised at yourself and blushing horrendously. Bless Eddie.... if not for him, you would havenever figured this out about yourself.
Speechless and needing to hide your reddened cheeks, you lept up and embraced Eddie tightly. Full of joy, he returned the favor, picking you up and spinning you around, happily chanting "I knew it, I knew it, I knew it!!"

"Babe, am I ugly?"
The question made you violently scoff as you scribbled notes on your grocery list. You didn't bother to look up, you could hear the slight playfulness in Eddie's voice. Yet, you weren't quite sure what he was getting at. "Of course not! Why the hell would you think that?"
He leaned forward to his elbows on the kitchen table next to you. "'Cause you act like you don't want to look at me half the time."
Your pen hovered over the paper for a moment before you stole a quick two second glance at him.
Yep, his face was smug as ever. He was picking on you.
You looked away. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"You literally just did it," He badgered. "Come on, I don't bite."
"Much," You replied.
He barked a laugh. "Okay, I promise not to bite at all if you just look at me for… I don't know, thirty seconds."
"Ed's, come on, I'm busy." You could feel an anxious knot tightening in your gut.
"Why won't you do it?"
You closed your eyes. "I can't. You know I get nervous."
"I know, I know, and I really love that about you," He pulled his chair up close to yours and gently rested his warm hand on your thigh. "But I also love your cute little face and pretty eyes looking at me. You don't do it often enough."
You sighed, feeling the tug of war in your brain. His eyes were pretty too, and you always thought the shape of his nose was adorable. You wanted to stare at him more, you really did. But to have him staring right back at you? That made you feel the most vulnerable. It was intimidating, really.
Eddie could sense your quiet discomfort. He hooked his hand under your knee and pulled your leg to drape over his. "The eyes are the very windows to the soul," He drawled in a deeper tone as if he were DMing, making you smile. He leaned in close. "And, m'lady, your eyes have everything that my own soul thirsts for."
You couldn't help but giggle, shaking your head at his antics. He always tried flattery just to see you get flustered.
"Come on," He purred with a smile, putting a hand to your opposing cheek. "Can you be good and look at me, sweetheart?"
The war in your mind froze, like Eddie had taken the remote and pushed pause on your thoughts.
Be good.
You wanted that. You really wanted to make him proud.
Slowly, you let your head be turned by the pressure of Eddie's fingers on your cheek. However, even when facing right at him, you simply stared sheepishly down at his chest biting on your lip.
"Good job," He hummed, his thumb stroking your cheek slowly. "Just a little more, pretty girl. You're so close, just look up at me."
You started to, getting to his neck, his chin… then hesitated. Your own neck was going tense, joints freezing up without your consent. Letting out a breath of defeat, you leaned forward and collapsed into his neck with a groan.
"Oh nooo," Eddie trilled, putting his hand to the back of your head. "Princess, you were so close! Am I really that scary?"
You shook your head, nose nuzzling into the smell of his skin and cologne.
"Can we try again? Just one more time?" He asked, leaning his head down to your ear. "I know you can do it."
"Do I have to?"
"I mean… I suppose not," He droned, "But if you're a good girl, you'll get a reward."
Your posture stiffened slightly at the offer, knowing what the reward would be, then you slowly pulled yourself upright again. You inhaled deeply, really trying to hype yourself up.
"Don't hurt yourself now."
"Shut up!" You laughed hitting him in the chest you were still staring at. "I'm really trying here."
He tilted his head. "Want me to help?"
"How?" You asked, looking downward at your fidgeting hands.
"Easy. All I gotta do is…." He slipped a finger under your chin, tilting your head up slowly to angle right at him.
Then pursed your lips and snapped your eyes shut.
"Aww, you're just being difficult now, aren't you?" He condescended, "Don't want to be a good girl for me? Huh? Don't you want me to reward you?"
For some reason, that was the kicker. A spark of defiance forced your eyes open at a moment's notice. Eddie's dark irises held tiny reflections of yourself in them as well as a little sparkle that was painfully and wholeheartedly him.
"There you go!" His expression lit up with joy as he sandwiched your head in his hands. He held on as if he was trying to keep your head from falling off. "That was all you needed, huh? A little positive reinforcement…. Oh, you're doing such a good job looking at me. God, I love your eyes."
"Shush or I'm not going to be able to hold it," You giggled, butterflies relentlessly tickling your stomach.
He shook his head as he grinned. "No, no, I'm going to make you hold it. This is too good…. Like looking at the stars themselves."
You caught yourself breaking eye contact again, but this time to look down at his soft plush lips.
"Ah, ah," Eddie tapped the side of your head with his finger. "Eyes back up here."
Although begrudgingly, you obeyed. "Eddie…"
He smirked. "You'll get your reward, just give me a bit longer. I haven't memorized the color of your eyes just yet."
After not even ten more seconds of staring into his dark irises, you caved with another groan. This one more out of impatience than discomfort. Falling into his neck again you whined and kicked your foot in frustration.
His chest rumbled with a laugh. Once again, his hand was on the back of your head. "Oh I know, I know, sunshine, I was pushing it. You did so good. Here, come here—" He gently grabbed a hold of your jaw, turning it upwards to meet your lips in a kiss. It was clear he was giving you a 'thank you'. Sexy was one way to put it, but the energy of it was softer than sex. You found as well that he lingered in it much longer than usual, and that was met with no complaint from you. You simply closed your eyes and returned the same loving energy.
You both let out satisfied breaths over each other before the spell had finally been broken, Eddie pulling away first with a grin on his face.
"You alright there, babes?"
Your eyes remained closed, the feeling of his lips on yours like that leaving you in a daze. His warmth always sent your insides spinning.
"Again," You whispered, putting your hand up to his head to pull him in.
He leaned downward once more, only to collide his forehead with yours instead of your lips on his. "Nope, those kisses aren't free. You gotta look at me to get them."
Still in a lovestruck fog, you lazily opened your eyes. You were obviously looking into his face, but being so close made his features an absolute blur. It was clear, though, his eyes were open, mere inches from yours.
"Good girl," He mumbled before leaning in to gift another kiss.

You had never been one to take care of yourself, at least not willingly. You were always on the lookout for small ways to punish yourself. Doing so was like second nature. A skipped meal was no biggie. Not getting enough sleep on purpose was normal. Not taking your medications was commonplace.
That was until you got close to none other than Eddie Munson. It started out as a close friendship but quickly blossomed into something much more. You two had a dynamic you hadn't had with anyone else before. You cared for each other, yes, but he seemed to constantly be looking for ways he could better you in that area. Not necessarily out of competition, but simply because that was just the way he was. He wanted to care for you in any way he could, and he took any chance he got.
Sometimes it got rather annoying.
When Eddie figured out how much you didn't bother to care for yourself, you'd have thought you had called him a freak to his face. At first he was taken aback, then he quickly became indignant. From then on he was always on top of your habits.
"Eating a cheese stick isn't a meal. Come on, we're going to McDonald's."
"Three hours of sleep? Babe, you gotta be kidding me."
"Wait, before we leave, go drink a glass of water."
"When was the last time you ate?.... No, nevermind, doesn't matter 'cause I'm making you a fuckin' sandwich."
"Don't you dare leave that cut exposed, put a bandaid on it right this instant."
"You called to make that doctor appointment right?"
You hated to admit it, but he helped you learn to tend to your own upkeep. You found yourself wanting him to be proud of you, for his face to light up when you looked at him proudly to tell him the balanced meal you just had. To feel him hug you from behind as you cooked something for yourself and whisper praises in your ear. Or even just to see him smile softly when you told him you were going to bed earlier than usual. He'd usually join you then, cuddling you until your breaths slowed into a slumber.
The one thing you couldn't seem to get a handle on, though, was taking your medications on time. It wasn't on purpose, the thought of taking them just slipped your mind.
… At least that's what you always told yourself.
Sure, you had improved in other areas, but this was the habit you took some sort of comfort in. Taking your medicine for three days straight only to stop for two was your normal. In the mornings you'd look at the bottle, and without a second thought be able to determine if you deserved to feel better that day or not. Doing so would usually lead to headaches or dizziness as well as a mood change. You found yourself eventually hiding the withdrawal symptoms well from the people in your life, the self sabotage feeling like home.
Eddie saw right through you like a window. There was a certain demeanor you had about you on some days that kept recurring. Eventually, through prying questioning and careful observation, he narrowed it down to your meds. Or rather, not taking them. So, like the loving boyfriend he coined himself to be, he started making sure you took them. When he'd ask if you had, you'd clam up like a child caught red handed. Then you'd go take the pills like you were walking yourself into time out.
This kept happening and the span of time between missed meds kept shrinking… but it never disappeared.
One day, on an especially gloomy day for you, Eddie asked again if you took your meds. Of course you hadn't. It was chore day in the house after all, you didn't have time to take them. You'd rather spend the day doing laundry with Eddie as your medication than those dumb pills.
With the shake of his head, he softly reprimanded you, as usual. This time it didn't do the trick, the voices in your head insisting that one day without the pills was fine. Secretly, you resisted and continued pushing through the day.
After the fourth time of asking that morning, Eddie had had enough. Unknown to you, he had been watching your pill bottle in the bathroom. It hadn't moved an inch, not even rotated. Clearly, you still hadn't touched it. He grabbed the bottle, about to march into the livingroom to make you take your goddamn meds. But then he gave pause… and slowly put the bottle in his pocket. He knew a better way of how to get to you.
The next time you two crossed paths in the hallway, he grabbed you by the wrist and pinned it to the wall.
"Wh-, Ed's, what are you-"
"Did you take your meds yet?" He asked with a raised yet knowing brow.
Your heart fell into your gut and you looked away in shame.
His hand immediately gripped your jaw, forcing your eyes to meet his leering over you. "I asked you a question sweetheart. Did. You take. Your meds?"
Eyes wide, you shook your head. Suddenly it seemed now that your heart had dropped even further, causing a throb in your underwear.
"Well that won't do, will it?" He let your hand fall from the wall and dug into his pocket, pulling out the familiar rattling bottle. He raised it to face level between you both, turning yours to look a it. "You know, only good girls take their medicine, right?"
The throbbing reared it's head within you, a certain tingle in your chest igniting it. His stare was stern and authoritative, drilling into your cowering form relentlessly.
"You want to be a good girl, don't you?" He crooned.
You uncontrollably gulped, feeling like you were trapped in the corner of a cage… and fuck was it hot.
"Yes sir," You muttered, reaching up to grab the pill bottle.
"Ah ah ah," He pulled it from your reach. "I don't think I trust you to do it yourself."
You looked up at him, brow creased in confusion, yet you didn't protest.
"In the bathroom. Now." He commanded, stepping back to let you lead the way.
Obediently, you turned and walked down the hall to the bathroom.
"Grab a cup of water," He added, shaking the bottle as if to taunt you with your mistake.
After filling a Dixie cup, you held out your palm, expecting him to shake a pill into your hand.
He simply smirked and shook his head, opening the pill bottle. "You assume too much, princess," He tutted, then with a pill between his fingers, he forewent your outstretched palm and brought his hand to your mouth. "Open."
Slowly lowering your own hand, you opened your mouth and stuck your tongue out as was your habit.
"Good," He purred, dragging out the praise and placing the pill delicately on your tongue. "Now drink."
You sipped the cup gingerly as his hand lowered down to your jawline.
He squeezed your face. "Swallow."
You were positive your underwear was ruined by now, your thighs clenched together tightly. When you had pressed them so hard together, you weren't sure. It was safe to say you were worked up, and by the ghost of a smirk on his face, Eddie could tell.
Tentatively, you swallowed, the pill going down surprisingly smooth considering the lump in your throat.
His warm hand then gave you a pat on the side of the face. "Good girl."
Your stomach flipped at the admiration and you fought to keep your composure. You knew he liked it when you kept eye contact with him. All you wanted was to make him proud of you.
Then, as if a switch was flipped, his darkened eyes cleared and he gave you a self assured yet goofy smile. "Alright, I gotta go do dishes," He stated, putting your pill bottle on the counter, then promptly walking away, down the hall.
You stood there, absolutely awestruck, Dixie cup in hand, and panties literally in a twist. Gaping for a minute like a fish you then stomped your foot in frustration. "Oh come on, you can't do that!" You yelled, leaning out of the doorway. "You can't just tease and stop like that!"
Eddie smugly laughed from the kitchen. "Take your pills and I won't have to again!"
You groaned, crushing the empty Dixie cup in your hand.
