Jekyll is the sort of person who denies himself everything, because he thinks he doesn't deserve it (else that it would ruin his image. One cannot be fully human and be the person he pretends to be simultaneously, it isn't sustainable.)

Hyde is the sort of person to think he deserves everything, and take it by force, without thought that he shouldn't or couldn't achieve it (it may someday kill him, unless Jekyll gets there first.)
