Design needs to have a purpose.
There are so many useless items under the definition of ‘design’, but everything that is so called ‘good design’ needs to have a purpose that is functional and useful. Good design is innovative and creative. Good design is inspiring and noticeable. Good design will stand out. Nobody is going to purchase a product that isn’t going to be used (Rams, 2015). Why would anyone even consider buying a product that they don’t actually need because the purpose isn’t relevant for them?
3D printers are good and bad. 3D printers are generating rubbish. Amateurs are able to access them like a simple printer. Majority of the stuff made from a 3D printer aren’t products, but instead they are objects. The reason for this is because they are so called ‘designed’ to either just sit there or chuck out after the humor of printing them has passed.
A good purpose for a design is to be environmentally friendly. Waste is a huge issue in the world. Waste is damaging the world. The more useless objects being created is to blame for a large number of waste piles including the unwanted goods with no purpose. Allow your products to have a longer life. If we double the length of a product or object, we halve the amount of material that goes in a landfill (Bonney, 2012). Wasted products are left to decompose in the environment, but not all products can decompose. Instead they end up damaging the environment for years to pass.
