You probably looked weird staring at him like this. Well, it wasn't him necessarily, more like his tie and the collar of his white button down.
Dean was explaining something while you were all sitting on the chairs around the library table, the only one standing awkwardly beside Dean and Sam being Castiel. You were supposed to be focused on whatever Dean was saying but Cas' lose tie made your fingers tingle for you to adjust it.
He didn't seem to mind it, though. He had bigger worries and you gave him the benefit of the doubt because he definitely had no idea how to deal with a tie since his previous vessel was a woman β not that she wouldn't wear a tie, you just assumed it wasn't something she did.
Castiel was oblivious to your stare, throughly focused on Dean. Sam had looked up at you then, taking his eyes off the laptop, and noticed your burning stare on the angel. He furrowed his eyebrows, following your eyes to its focus and landing on the article of clothing Cas never seemed to get right. He bit back a laugh.
"Y/N what do you think?" Dean suddenly asked and, like you were caught red handed, you widened your eyes. The three pairs of eyes looked at you, Sam with an amused stare and a hand over his mouth to hide his smile. Cas' big blue eyes looked at you with curiosity, geniuely wanting to know your opinion on the matter.
"Uhh" You mumbled. You should've been paying attention, damn you Castiel. "I was distracted, what was that?"
Castiel tilts his head in confusion and Sam fails to hold back a chuckle. Dean just stared at you, unfazed and he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose with his fingers. You tensed as Castiel's eyes never left your face. You knew the angel usually did that, unaware of how disturbing it was to stare -- quite literally -- in someone's soul.
"Do you think it's a case, the whole thing I just explained to you?" Dean questioned, his voice bitter in annoyance. You had absorbed something about blood and fire and vengeful so you just nodded.
"Yeah, yeah, it might be, we've crossed the country for less" You say, your eyes quickly drifting back to Castiel's tie instead of Dean's stern face. Dean notices the movement and it's like something clicked in his head. To you, he seems unfazed but oh if he wasn't smirking on the inside.
He closed the laptop and got up from his chair, making Castiel back away slightly to give him room to leave and Sam followed his brother's move, clearing his throat as he stood up. You, on reflex, did the same.
"Okay then, we leave in 20" Sam said and went towards his room to get ready, Dean doing the same. You started to organize the books spread over the table, just so that you wouldn't come back and have to deal with clearing up papers and documents.
You were concentrated in the task and Cas was looking at you intently. He walked towards you and placed a hand over your shoulder, your soul almost jumping out of your skin.
"God, Cas, don't do that" You joke, a hand to your heart β which was beating faster than you thought it was, not knowing if it was because of the scare or simply because of Castiel.
"I'm sorry it's just that I wanted to ask you if you were really okay" He inquired, big blue eyes staring into yours in worry. You felt your skin warm up and turned your head back down to the documents.
"I'm okay Cas, really, it's just..." You look up at his tie again and he notices, looking down at himself and trying to find whatever was wrong with his clothes or body or whatever you were staring at. You smiled a little and stepped closer. "Here, this is what's bothering me"
You reached your hands to his tie and Castiel's eyes watched your every move. You could feel his gaze trying to look into your eyes as you gently pulled on the cloth, analysing you in that Cas way that was so shameless yet so innocent.
"There" You said, dusting his overall and smiling lightly, your hands staying on his shoulders a moment too long. Cas took advantage of that moment, raising his hands to wrap over yours, hesitantly, waiting for you to pull away if you wanted to.
You couldn't say anything, your face just frozen in a stupid half-open mouth that probably looked terrible.
"You are very pretty" He said, breaking the silence. You didn't say anything back β you couldn't, actually. He pulled you a little closer, making your hands wrap around his neck.
At this point, your heart was beyond racing, your throat was dry and all you could do was appreciate the Angel in front of you β literal Angel.
His hand ghosted over your cheek and you closed your eyes, feeling his skin on yours for a moment. When you opened them again, Cas was staring at your lips.
"Can I kiss you Cas?" You asked, your voice small and hushed because of the closeness. You saw a slight smile on his face before he nodded and leaned in, capturing your lips in the softest and most gentle kiss you probably ever experienced.
Cas probably learned the best he could with the brothers, even if you still could tell he had not done this many times before. It was perfect and it was just as you imagined it would be with him.
When you pulled away, he had the cutest smile on his face, as if he had just struck gold. You smiled back.
"I hope I can kiss you much more, I liked it, I like you" Cas said and your chest warmed up.
Hey... It's been a while *slides you a Cas drabble* I am writing for Sam, I just had this idea for Cas MONTHS ago that was sitting on my drafts. And yes it's based of off that one scene of Cas and Dean but this time the writers are not cowards and they kithed.
