Samson merely nods at the observation, having honestly expected the same thing.Â
âLikely. From what I understand, my factors of attraction are merely physical, along with the addition initial traits of intelligence, mystery, and apparently, challenge. Apparently the appeal of these aforementioned traits are soon erased by my personality...â Samson says bluntly, having gathered that at least from the spattering of blind dates Darius had set him up on. His dates were honest with enough prompting, something Samson actually appreciated more than any of their company. He turns to Caellum then, starts with, âYou, on the other hand, hold many of those same traits. Your face is relatively symmetrical, your body is proportioned, and you do not hide your intelligence. Instead of mystery you have the addition of fame, from what I understand. Or some amount of idolization, which is a factor in and of itself. Besides that, you put in the effort to be charming. Example being, apologizing for an action that wasnât even your own.â Samson pauses after the assessment, tries to think if anything was missed and finds no holes in his theory, nods and turns his attention back tot he ceiling. âThereâs at least an eighty seven percent chance she was looking at you.â
Samson blinks at the mention of his previous accomplishments, turns to Caellum in slight surprise. His previous accomplishments in the science field werenât something he thought over often. They were memories of a life before, of a time where times were dark for a very different reason, a time where that darkness wasnât anything compared to what it would be.Â
A time when Caellum and himself had an arrangement approaching friendship.Â
Caellum was from a time that Samson regularly deigns to recall. He doesnât know what to do with this revelation, doesnât know what itâll mean for whatever this interaction between them progresses into. But it was something curious to contemplate, that Caellum could bring him back to a time before wreckage with just a few short words. Samson is suddenly startled by the realization that Caellum Darcy, a boy he barely knew, is currently and singularly Samsonâs only connection to his childhood. To his past before Sarac.Â
âAre you... comparing your attractiveness to me winning an award for electrical engineering?â Samson is asking blankly, as he turns back to Caellum his confusion at the connection clear in the slow pinch of his brows. âBecause.... Iâm not quite sure the accomplishments can be compared.â Sam pauses a moment, awkwardly unsure of how to proceed with this before, â....Your award within the Chemistry category was also well deserved.âÂ
And Samson has a moment of discomfort where he wonders if this would be the appropriate time to thank Caellum on top of that, if Caellumâs statement was meant for more than acknowledgement in return when-
Samson blinks at the comment. Once. Twice as the implication of the statement slowly comes to him, years of conversation with Darius bringing him some amount of understanding and Samson keeps his expression blank.
âSexually?â Samson deadpans, his gaze not wavering from Caellumâs and heâs well aware of how odd his sense of humor can be, but the concept of him getting sexual pleasure from deterring people is too ludicrous for him to leave alone, âOf course. Is my arousal at the current situation not clear?âÂ
