Also random lore update here... So my sona has gone through three names: first Sam (my birth name/deadname), then Cayne (Cayne S. Lupus, or Cayne Samuel Lupus) and now Miles (the name I want to be referred to as). So Miles was born as Sam, and in school got the nickname Cayne, while still in school. After they moved out, they decided to "forget the past" so to speak, and decided on Miles as their name, which they changed it to legally. The nickname, Cayne, was kept since they had been called it so frequently, even though it has their old name Samuel in it.

So, you can refer to the Sona character as Miles or Cayne, and to me (the writer) as Miles!

The first morning

The house was quiet. The day started way too early. Olivar was sleeping in his room, ears draped flat across the pillow and against the bed's headrest. Now and then they twitched, followed by the twitching of the cotton tail. The pillow had a darker spot near his mouth where saliva was pooled together from the rabbit's mouth.

Clothing was strewn across the room. A shirt and shorts hung from the bed's rest. A pair of light-blue undies was on the floor next to the bed, and two pink socks sprawled across the little carpet next to the bed. Olivar's box with magazines was sprawled across the floor as well, with two of them on the bed. The rabbit clearly was reading them before falling asleep. At his age, the pile of magazines was a mixture of game magazines and some soft, naughty ones, nothing hardcore.

The door to the hallway was left open to keep some airflow, but overall the room was warm and humid, and it smelled of teenage rabbit.

Miles quietly approached Olivar's room. The AC was running full blast to combat the current wave of unbearable heat, which helped a little bit clearly not enough. The wolf's own clothes were abandoned around the living room, with their shorts and tank top across the back of the couch and their underwear thrown near the stairs.

As Miles got closer, the heat from Olivar's room hit them like a train. The wolf peaked in, and noticed the bunny on his bed snoozing. The blinds in his room were open, which made Miles frown.

"Oli... I thought I said to leave your blinds closed at this hour, since the heat gets so bad. It's like a sauna in here..."

Olivar didn't react immediately. It took the rabbit a few moments for Miles' voice to even register. Groggy, disoriented, and fazed, Olivar looked up and around and stared at Miles, barely registering what was going on.

"I......w..."

Before any more words could come out of the rabbit's mouth, Olivar threw up on the side of the bed, almost hitting his magazines and clothing that were lying there. As soon as the heaving stopped, Olivar started trembling on the bed, almost crying from the convulsive pain that his body had just produced.

"Whoa, whoa, hold on..." Miles said, immediately running in and picking up Olivar, lightly cradling him. They rushed down stairs and set the bunny gently on the couch, then ran into the kitchen and grabbed a bowl and a paper plate.

The bowl was set next to Olivar's head, and Miles began to fan him down with the paper plate in one hand, while gently rubbing his back with the other. "Olivar... You're burning up..." Their voice trembled, unsure of what was happening to him.

The air hitting his face made the bunny a bit more responsive. Looking around the room, confused, Olivar tried to say something, but produced only some slurred sounds. With much effort, he slowly lifted his paw and padded with his paw towards his neck.

Miles, if so inclined, would be able to spot a large, swollen spot in Olivar's neck. A small puncture wound at the center, oozing with a faint rancid stench. Olivar shook his head, then fumbled to the side, barely catching himself with his paws before just tumbling against Miles.

Miles gasped at seeing the puncture wound, followed by their nose crinkling at the smell. "What in the..."

The wolf caught Olivar as he fell. They breathed heavier as panic began to set in. How did Oli get this wound? Miles kept a close eye on the bunny at all times to protect him. A wound like this wouldn't have been missed by them. But worst of all - could they help Oli out? Would a doctor know what this is?

"O-Okay, um..." Miles began, the panic making tears begin to form in their eyes. "Let me get some ice to put behind your head, and... I'll go clean the vomit in your room and call an ambulance. You're going to be okay... You hear me?"

Miles looks down at Olivar. Though they say nothing, their tail begins to slowly wag. "Well... You tell that grayface I said thanks..."

Joseph sneaks in and steals a bite of a sandwich!

Miles went in to take a bite of their just completed peanut butter & jelly, which was when they heard a knock, that sounded like it came from the front door. In the mere moments they looked away, they felt Joseph's kiss.

"Wuh?" The wolf muttered, knowing then exactly who it was. Then they looked down, and saw a bite of their sandwich missing. A fairly decent sized bite, at that.

"What the-!? Joseph!" Miles shouted, before looking down at their sandwich and pouting, then quietly saying "This is my sandwich..."

Did you know that it's extremely crucial you feed your local lagomorph muffins, carrots, and salad?

Miles nodded. "I did know this. I actually have a lagomorph living here right now. I have to keep some of them away from him during the day."

The wolf sighed. "We go through carrots like crazy, which I have hidden. If I get baby carrots he pops them like candy. If I get full sized ones, he eats the entire thing in one go. It's actually impressive..."

Miles looked down at Olivar. The smirk they gave him suggested that Olivar already knew the answer to his question. "Yeah, I guess you could say that. Though, this bunny isn't a pet. He's my friend. One I rescued from the street some time ago."

"I don't eat all your carrots!"

Miles chuckled. "I beg to differ. Do you think I don't hear you sneak downstairs and start eating the baby carrots? The noise from your cronching goes pretty far."

The small Lagomorph had no words for this. Betrayed by his own teeth and habits.

The wolf smiled, then tussled the top of Olivar's head. "It's in your instincts. You can't help it... Mostly." Miles then looked out the nearby window, and smiled. "Maybe we ought to build a greenhouse, and we can grow our own carrots? It would definitely save money since I wouldn't be buying carrots every week."

The wolf turned around, and upon seeing who it was, their face lit up, their ears perked up completely and they ran up and gave the dragon a big hug. They spun around, so excited to see their friend.

"Bravad!" Miles shouted, their tail wagging so furiously their butt and body wiggled. "God, It's been so long! How have you been?"

Bravad couldn’t help but smile at Miles’ reaction. It was no doubt to be expected, though the hug did catch him off guard a little. It was welcome though, as Bravad hugged the wolf right back

“Heya there Miles. Yeah, it has been a while. Sorry, my apprentice work has kept me really busy. I guess you missed me huh, how have you been?”

The wolf smiled. "Of course I missed you, silly! It's been so long, and I figured work caught up to you. I'm just... So glad you're doing okay!" Miles' voice rose in pitch as they talked, their excitement barely being contained.

"I've been doing good, just hanging out here at home as usual. Just got done... Shedding my winter coat finally, which is... Always fun." The wolf shyly chuckled, then looked back at Bravad. "How about you? What kind of work were you up to to keep you busy for so long?"
