You see, I've always heard of those who grew up with a single parent and how hard it was to get by... It was never the case with me. My mum literally provides everything I ask for, whether it was legit or not, she'd just go beyond and over herself to provide that thing or those things. . Oh God! I was such a mischievous child while I was growing up... But my mom always put up with that crazy me, but she'd beat the hell out of me every "umpteenth" time I'd behave badly. She was building me up for this time... . ...trust me, she was. She taught me the importance of books and she instilled in me the mentality of reading through the nights. My mum always read with candles, lanterns, and sometimes NEPA light whenever they decided to give us light. . Maybe if she was here, I would have achieved all of my plans in life... Or maybe I will still be that mama's boy who couldn't think for himself. Whatever, I bless God for creating someone like you and for allowing me the privilege to come to this world through her. . About reading... . "What you feed your mind reflects on the quality of your life." . I have often been asked, "Sam, how come you know so much?" . Someone had even said to me once, "Sam, I think you know so much for your age." . Well, I have often answered the aforementioned question along these lines... I bought books, spend time reading them and that has made all the difference. . So, two months ago, I picked up Robert Kiyosaki's book, Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and vigorously studied it. Of course, it challenged and demystified my money myths, and at the same time provided me with the right ingredients to brew money. Most importantly, it got the idea bank for my book running on full flight! . Then last month, I embarked on another intellectual journey, but this time, with the great leadership expert, John Maxwell. His book, "360 Degree Leader" teaches you how to lead up (to the boss), across (among your peers), and down (to those you lead). The book is a timely reminder of the fact that your influence is more greater than you know. . Also, in November, I bought another power book titled, "Keep it Smart. Keep it Simple", by my friend, Speaker Samson Egbums. Well, we both shared the stage at one of my speaking engagements in Ibadan last month. He had mentioned the success handbook, and o boy, I had to buy it, since I know dey use ear hear "success". Men, it only took me just one evening to consume the whole book. . And just yesterday, I went and added to my collection of books... . * The Best Investment Advice I Ever Received - Liz Claman . * The New Normal - Mark Wyatt . * Attitude is Everything - Keith Harrell . * The Top 10 Mistakes Salespeople Make and How to Avoid Them - Todd Duncan .
