Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes, Sambucky side blog for @attaining-fic. Sometimes I ship other random Sam and Bucky ships like SarahBucky and SamSteve. My AO3. The Bucky Takes Care of Sam Master List on AO3.
Trying to get my characters to engage with me about finishing this Sarahbucky fic and Sarah is like “sorry busy dying of embarrassment try again later” and Bucky is floating on cloud 9 dopey smile literally planning their wedding but too afraid to actually act.
Come on characters work with me here so I can start writing. 😂
My interest in finishing my SarahBucky fic is increasing. But I’m also too lazy to rewatch any part of the MCU for it. So I may just wing it and let the vibes carry me home. I actually have no idea where it’s going; it’s been one of those fics where I open a document and see where the characters take me. It’s fun. I get to be as surprised as the readers. 😅

Racism in fandom spaces is actually insanely bad and if you ever try to downplay or avoid conversations about it because "fandom is supposed to be fun" then I'm not sorry to say this: You're adding on to the problem.
If POC speaking up about a fandom's racism issue offends you more than the racism itself, you need to think about that. You need to think about how POC fighting racism offends you more than the racism.
Here are a few of my faves in no particular order:
The Way Out Is Through by @attaining-fic
Sam and Bucky's love story in Wakanda is interrupted when Sam contracts a virus that makes him crave human flesh. Bucky will do anything to keep him safe. And fed.
Instead of The Blip, Thanos' minions brought the zombie apocalypse.
(Aka a Sambucky zombie romance. Happy Halloween!)

“He won’t keep us in here,” Sam says. “Where’s the fun in freezing us to death?”

Twenty-five years after the events at a popular New York Bistro, Timothy DumDum Dugan tells the true story of infamous mobster Jimmy Buchanan and the man he gave it all up for.
Here I Go, Don't Let Me Go by @katatonicimpression
This is a story about loss, bisexuality and commitment.
It’s also a story about Sam, his issues and the (imperfect) relationships that make up his life.
When You Awake by @the-lunar-pull
“Mr. Wilson, what do you remember?” Dr. Ramirez asks, her voice tense.
And here is a moment of choice for you. There’s a part of you that wants to lie; wants to simply ignore this terror and just pretend. There’s a part of you that is paralyzed with fear.
But there’s another part of you, sure as the rising sun, that will never back down. You don’t know who you are but you know you cannot turn away from this or any other challenge. You’re not built like that, that much you know.
You open your eyes again. Take a deep breath.
“I don’t remember anything.”
The Boys of the Summer by @siancore
Sam Wilson returns home to the small town he grew up in to complete his med school residency. He hasn’t been back for an extended amount of time since he left for college. While he only consistently kept in touch with childhood friend, Steve Rogers, he was keen to see the people he had grown up with. With the exception of Bucky Barnes. They had a falling out the summer before Sam left for college.
What happened between them? Can they move past it now that they’re adults?

After Bucky moves in with Sam, Figaro takes a bit longer than expected to warm to him.
Reconstitution by st4rlabsforever
“I didn’t back Steve on the Sokovia Accords,” Sam says unprompted one day. They’re so close to apprehending the Flagsmashers and wrapping up this ridiculous saga.
“I don’t follow,” Bucky says.
“I was the one who refused to sign it first. Not Steve.”
Sam says it so softly that Bucky has to strain to hear him. Sam is loud and chatty and half the time he keeps up a constant stream of chatter just to get on Bucky’s nerves, but Bucky’s coming to realize that when he really wants to make himself heard, he’s soft spoken and mild. Bucky doesn’t entirely follow his train of thought, though.

"What, you take care of Sharon, and now it’s my turn?” Sam teases. “I might start to think you really care about me.”
After-Action by gigantic
Bucky’s developing something of a rhythm. He goes to therapy, attends to a name on his list, and then finds Sam, laying the adrenaline at his doorstep. And each time Sam has let Bucky come in and take him apart.

Between them, they are quite a picture; the before and the after.

“I already told you it looks good. What more is there?”
“I don’t know, man, you’re gonna live here. I just wish I knew a little bit more about how that’s sitting with you.”
Sam knows Bucky feels fine. What Sam’s probably actually after is how he feels about the fact neither of them have anywhere else to go, not with Natasha dead and Steve wrinkly. Therapists. Even the good ones, always so circular.
“I like the terrace,” Bucky offers, mostly to appease him.
If You're Reading This by keire_ke and thisiswhatthewatergaveme
Bucky comes in from the cold and stumbles into...
A) an okay life.
B) a tenuous friendship.
C) something more.
D) a wedding.
E) All of the above.
Most days, happiness feels like a test. But he's trying, and trying to try, and that might make a difference.
This list is by no means exhaustive, but those are some of my faves. I’ll also recommend my own fics, because why not lol. Happy reading :)
