A/N: This is the first one-shot I'm posting on Tumblr-
It was another normal day, Thomas was setting up the camera to record the new Sanders Sides, the different traits already standing in their normal spots. Logan was currently calculating how long the video would take, Patton excitedly ranted to Roman what the different cute aspects of different dog races were, and Virgil stood in his usual spot in front of the staircase, anxiously fiddling with the sleeves of his hoodie.
"Okay, everything set up!", Thomas said, earning a happy squeal from Patton and an annoyed sigh from Virgil.
Everyone sank down as Thomas started the video, to pop up later when it was their turn.
"What is up everybody!?", Thomas yelled, happily smiling into the camera. "As you all probably know, I love watching Parts and Recreation, playing videos games or different shows. Most of the time, rather than doing anything...well...-"
"-useful?", Logan asked, popping up next to the staircase. "Is that what you are trying to say?"
"Oh yay, my logical side is here!", Thomas grinned, pointing at Logan. "I was looking for a, uh, softer approach to that, but yes, I guess you could say it that way."
"That is the only way to say that, Thomas. You are wasting your time with-, well, unnecessary and overly dramatic movies, when you could be doing something to expand your mind, or even-"
"Did someone say 'dramatic'?", Roman interrupted, popping up in his spot, striking a pose.
Logan sighed, readjusting his glasses, even though they sat on his nose perfectly. "Yes, I was trying to tell Thomas to stop watching those animated cartoons-"
"Did somebody say 'cartoons'?", Patton exclaimed giddily, popping up laughing, his signature cardigan draped over his shoulders.
"Yes, would somebody just let me-"
"Hey, what'd I miss?", Virgil said, popping up as the last one.
"So, what are we doing today?", Patton asked, jumping up and down.
"Do I need to save you from a Dragon-Witch, Thomas?", Roman asked, pulling out his sword.
"Come on, Princey, really?", Virgil said.
"CAN EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP FOR ONCE", he screamed, furious.
Everyone flinched back in surprise, Patton stumbling back and hitting his head on the wall, hissing in pain.
Logan's anger immediately disappeared and was replaced with concern for his cru-... friend.
Roman and Virgil were immediately at the side of the dad-character. "Oh my God, are you okay?!", Virgil exclaimed, extremely worried for the usually brightly smiling man.
"Y-Yeah, don't worry, kiddo.", Patton said, patting the smaller trait's head, his face scrunched up in pain.
Virgil's face darkened. "You're obviously NOT okay! Hang on, let me see...", Virgil said, softly turning Patton's head to give him access to the injury. He sucked in a sharp breath, his eyes squinting at the back of the head.
"This doesn't look good. It's even bleeding a bit...", Virgil murmured.
"Wh-What?", Logan whispered, shocked.
Virgil shot Logan a glare, before turning back to the cardigan-wearing man. "Come on, Pat, let's get that PATched up, okay?", he lightly smiled. "Okay.", Patton said, giggling at the pun. They sank down together.
Thomas looked around, confused. "Uhhhhhh, what just happened?"
"... I have no idea, Thomas.", Roman said, looking at Logan. Logan was staring at the spot where Patton just sank down, concern written all over his face, but also shame and guilt.
After a few minutes, Patton and Virgil popped back up, Virgil back in his original spot, and Patton in his. The only difference was the huge bandaid at the back of Patton's head. When Logan got a look at it, he felt guilt flood him and he looked down, ashamed of himself.
"Aren't you gonna apologize to him, Logic?", Virgil snapped, glaring at Logan. He only called him Logic when he was mad. And he was very protective of Patton, the man was like a father to him.
"I-I-...", Logan stuttered, for the first time, being lost for words.
"Oh, so NOW he doesn't know what to say, but could yell at us to shut up before perfectly."
"Cut it out, Electron, it was an accident!", Roman exclaimed, protecting Logan, who was currently showing his vulnerable side. (Electron? Get it? Because he's always negative? Nevermind-)
"Maybe. But it wouldn't have happened if he hadn't exploded like a freaking volcano!", Virgil retorted.
"It was an accident, Virgil! Calm down!", Roman said, volume of his voice rising.
Virgil huffed. "Me? You're telling ME, the embodiment of Anxiety, to CALM DOWN?! Wow Roman, wow. So you're basically saying that Logan is not at fault?!"
"He's not entirely innocent, but he didn't want to hurt Patton on purpose!", Roman stated, starting to yell.
"Okay, okay, that's enough. I'm fine, kiddos, see?", Patton reasoned, pointing at the bandaid. "Now, let's all calm down and-"
"STAY OUT OF THIS, PATTON!", Roman screamed, making Patton flinch in surprise and take a step backwards.
Virgil looked at Patton, who was now shaking out of fear and shock. His expression darkened and he snarled at Roman. "What the FUCK is your PROBLEM!?", he growled, taking a step towards Roman.
"Whoa there, Virgil, no need to fight.", Thomas said anxiously, watching the scene. Virgil shot him a deadly glare, effectively shutting him up.
"First, you defend Logan for indirectly hurting Patton. And NOW, you yell at him!? Look how scared he is! Oh wait, let me guess, that was an accident too!!", Virgil screamed, still stepping closer to the sash-wearing man.
"Oh, I'm sorry for trying to protect him from getting involved into the argument! I'm only trying to help! I never meant to hurt anybody!", Roman screamed, taking a step towards Virgil.
"You never meant to hurt any- oh my God, SERIOUSLY!? You NEVER mean to hurt anybody, yet you call me negative nicknames and insult me every. single. day!! I know that you don't like me, okay!?", the darkly-dressed trait yelled at the top of his lungs.
"Those are only for fun, Virgil! A light teasing! You never get so hurt from light insults by Logan! Why are you so hurt when I say them!?", Roman yelled, confusion and anger seeping into his voice.
"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, OKAY!!??"., Virgil screamed, his voice cracking in the middle of the sentence, tears threatening to spill from his eyes.
All that could be heard was Patton's soft gasp, Thomas sucking in a sharp breath and Logan choking on his own spit.
Virgil was panting heavily, the tears now running over his pale cheeks, smudging some of his eyeshadow.
"... You... what?", Roman whispered in disbelief.
Virgil looked up, only now realizing what he had just confessed in front of everyone. His face turned a dark red, his eyes wide. He looked at everyone around.
Patton was looking at them, hands over his wide smile, stars in his eyes and he seemed to be trying not to squeal.
Logan had stopped coughing and was now staring at him, mouth and eyes wide open, shocked.
Thomas was staring at him, a small smile on his lips, his eyes wide. "Oh my God...", he whispered.
Virgil started to breath faster. The world was spinning around him, turning darker from second to second. His throat felt like it was closing up, his lungs felt heavy, like a weight was laying upon them. He could hear his heartbeat pounding in his ears.
After a few seconds, he couldn't take it anymore. He sank out as fast as he could, running away from the conversation. The others immediately followed, sinking out as well, leaving a confused Thomas in the living room. He looked around, confused, until his eyes settled on the camera. His smile widened.
"Please tell me that I got all that...", he whispered.
After Virgil had appeared in the mindscape, he began to run to his room, the others following close behind him.
"Virgil, wait! Please!", he heard Roman yell, but he didn't listen. He skidded to a stop in front of his door, before tumbling through it and slamming the door behind him, locking it. He slid down the door and buried his head in his knees. He couldn't believe that he just confessed his love to the creative trait in front of everyone. He was going to hate him. He was going to despise him. They would laugh at him. They would ignore him again. They would remove his main trait title. They would-
"Virgil? Are you okay in there?", he heard Roman ask through the door.
After a while, he heard Roman let out a sigh. "Listen, Virgil. I hope that you can hear me now. Otherwise, this is going to be extremely awkward if I have to say it a second time.", Roman laughed breathlessly.
"I'm sorry for everything I have done, Virgil. If I had known that my nicknames were hurting you so much, I would have never made them up or called you those names. I never wanted to hurt you..."
"And because I know you, Virgil, I know what you are thinking right now. Please don't think that we are going to go back to hating you. You are one of us now, and you will forever be. We all have grown to love you, and nothing will ever change that.", Roman said, his voice filled with sadness, but also nostalgia and love.
It was quiet for a moment.
"I don't hate you, Virgil. I never have. And before you start thinking anything negative about what you said earlier-, don't worry. You wanna know why?". You could hear the warm smile in his voice. "Because I love you too, Virgil."
Virgil's breath catched in his throat. Roman... loved him?
He anxiously waited for Roman to continue talking, but nothing happened.
After a few moments, he heard Roman sighing, some rustling, and then steps walking away from the door.
As fast as he could, Virgil got up and ripped open the door, storming into the hallway.
"... Roman?", he called, making the prince-like man turn around with a surprised expression on his face.
"Y-You actually heard what I said?", Roman asked, a hopeful expression etched onto his face.
"Every word.", Virgil confirmed with a soft smile.
Roman blushed a dark red, looking at the ground.
"So, u-uh,-" Roman stuttered. Virgil had to chuckle. Roman, the most confident man he knew, was now shy and stuttering.
Virgil took a deep breath and gathered all the courage he had, before walking up to the taller man, grabbing his sash, and pulling him down to let their lips meet.
Roman looked at him with wide eyes before melting into the kiss.
It felt as if sparks exploded with every moment their lips were connected, like a firework that exploded way too close.
Their lips moved in sync, Roman's warm ones matching perfectly to Virgil's slightly colder ones.
After a while, Virgil pulled away to breathe, because the need for oxygen exists.
Roman looked at Virgil with a lovestruck gaze, his eyes only half opened, a wide smile on his face. "You don't know how much I have wanted to have this happen...", he whispered, staring into Virgil's dark eyes.
Virgil smirked back, his sassy attitude returning. "Oh, I can imagine.", he grinned. Roman snorted, playfully punching the smaller trait. "Way to ruin the moment, Doctor Gloom.", he grinned. Virgil chuckled at the nickname.
Suddenly, Roman took his hand, looking at him for permission. "Roman, I just kissed you, why are you looking at me for permission?", Virgil laughed. Roman smiled, before kissing his hand, making Virgil turn as red as a tomato. "Just making sure...", he whispered, looking at him lovingly.
Then he started walking in direction of the living room of the mindscape, where Patton and Logan were probably sitting on the couch.
As they walked around the corner, Roman suddenly stopped. "Roman, what's-", Virgil asked, before he saw it too.
On the couch, Logan was currently placing a tender kiss on Patton's lips, both of them blushing.
"Oh... my... God...!", Roman squealed, making Logan and Patton pull away from each other. "Roman! Ever heard of knocking!?", Patton asked, laughing with a blush on his face.
"So... are you two...?", Virgil asked.
"It seems so, yes.", Logan confirmed Virgil's suspicions.
"Awwwwww, I'm so happy for you!!", Roman exclaimed, somehow clapping his hands, even though Virgil's was still intertwined with his.
Virgil glared at Logan. "Logan, I swear to God, if you ever hurt Patton, I will personally suffocate you with one of your ties.", he growled, making Logan gulp and Patton laugh at the smaller, yet terrifying trait.
As Patton spotted Roman's and Virgil's intertwined hands, he squealed, stars being once again in his hands. "Oh my God, are you...!?". Roman nodded proudly, while Virgil hid his face out of embarrassment. Roman noticed that and gently pulled his face up.
"Please don't hide your beautiful face from me, my love.", he said. Virgil looked at him, before he smirked. "Are you only saying this because we have the same face?"
"Your face is not only your looks. It's your personality, your feelings. Please don't ever hide them, never again.", he said.
Virgil blushed a deep red and nodded in a daze, his eyes filled with love.
He never thought that he would ever be this lucky.
