idk what it is about pride and prejudice that’s so appealing. maybe it’s the fantasy of telling a man he’s self centred and arrogant and he believes it and changes for the better

There are so many small things to be grateful for—aliveness, safety, people we love—our days have been spent reading, sitting on the step to our flat’s balcony in the sun, drinking coffee and playing as much music as we can. We sing and dance and go for walks and open our windows and lie in bed listening to the birds. Today our neighbours spontaneously shared their barbecue with us, across the gap between our two balconies. The block is like one big family all waving at each other and being kind.
In the evenings we call our friends and families to say we love them. Everyone worries about money, rent, credit. My granddad says he’s kept up all my notes around the house. “see you friday, love you!” tucked in the bathroom mirror.
I’ve taken on new projects hoping they will fill my time enough to not worry. I sorted through all the books and moved our bookcase. I read the things I was putting off. Our tiny apartment is a happy place but so close; I’m trying to see new corners all the time.
no one knows what you’re going through. only you know. so don’t use broad labels other people would use on you to describe yourself or your behaviour. don’t call yourself a bad friend when you know you haven’t had energy lately. don’t call yourself a bad or unworthy person if you know you’re been trying to heal but made some mistakes in the process. don’t call yourself dumb because you’re struggling on understanding a topic you’ve never touched before. don’t say you’re unlovable when you know you get attached quickly to people who are wrong for you and then they inevitably leave. don’t give judgement on yourself without trying to understand your own perspective. trying to understand yourself and being empathetic towards yourself is what will help you become a better person. step into your own shoes rather than see yourself from the perspective of others.
“Fridays are made for loving you, Saturdays for loving myself and Sundays for loving the universe for all the love it has given me.”
