Omg I had so much fun going back to my roots recently!!! Here's a bunch of screenshot studies of Inuyasha, my first introduction to anime and drawing <3 I would not be the artist I am today without him! Feel free to put in the comments/tags what your first anime was ^_^
I totally forgot I also drew a few of Sango~

☆ inuyasha ☆
Just some late night thoughts but I miss the earlier depictions of Sango when she is first introduced to the Inu gang. She’s wary of them, guarded, but still has this edge about her. She is literally fresh from her grave and ready to fight Inuyasha even if her body is literally moments away from collapsing. And even after finding out the truth, she still wants to prove herself as a distinguished fighter (like the water god fight)
And then once she gets comfortable with the group she’s almost shoved into this role where she only worries about kohaku and miroku. Not only is that troublesome but I also hate the fact that it’s male characters that her identity revolves around
I wish they could’ve explored her character and trauma more. Sango might be quiet, sometimes shy and a badass but there’s also this ruthlessness that seems to be forgotten in the series. Sango should’ve gotten more bloody, she should’ve gotten the warrior treatment she deserves
Also let’s not forget that at some point Sango was suicidal and was willing to kill set kohaku free and then kill herself. There’s a certain kind of dark resolve that comes along with murder-suicide, well at least in her mind it was a mercy
That should’ve been explored, too. I think it would’ve been more interesting if Sango became infinitely more reckless in battle, especially when Kohaku’s life was on the line to the point where it bordered masochism.
posting this art fight attack separately cuz i think it's cool as hell

I know Izayoi's pretty expressionless in the series but I like to think Inuyasha got most of the faces he makes from her 🥺
any inuyasha enjoyers out there? 👀
