Geralt is such a good protag to me because he is an impossibly good monster hunter and swordsman, has 1/3 of the continent's population (male and female) in love with him, is very articulate and intelligent- and yet he is still a bit of a loser. Girldad to deeply concerning teenager. Is in a 30-year-long situationship. Falls out with his best friend like they're on the playground. Spends all the money he barely scrapes up on a new jacket. Immediately ruins said jacket. So it goes.

celine's dark gaze assesses the witcher thoughtfully in response and her next words are chosen carefully. "yes, and i should think you know better than most, don't you?" she has little experience with witchers, though this one's name carries recognition. though she has not yet determined what she makes of geralt of rivia there is an undeniable admiration for what efforts she's been made aware of: rescuing margarita and helping triss. after years of court politics wherein there is endless, heated discussion and little to no tangible results, true action proves a very welcome change, indeed.

"i heard that you and cirilla offered the wild hunt just such a reminder," celine continues and the corner of her lips hint at a smile. it had stoked hope in her when she'd overheard it, bright and blazing, after so many weeks of grim resolve slowly nearing the precipice of despair. all great and terrible things will meet their end, one way or another. "one of their generals, yes?"

the witcher's golden eyes catch in the flickering torchlight and, were they to belong to anyone else but him, she might think it the gaze of a predator. instead, her expression softens, all but apologetic. "it is very nice to finally meet you, geralt, though i am sorry it must be in such a place and at a time as this." celine pauses, then quickly adds, "no offense to your friend the bard, of course. i've heard he's cleaned this place up quite well." a hand lifts to gesture loosely to the tavern around them. "triss and anarietta both speak very highly of you."
