“YEAH, YEAH . . at least you’re up though. “ He teases back; his smirk growing tenfold as Yu quirked a brow at the yawn. “Called it.” It wasn’t unlike him to affectionately tease her. 

There’s a momentary tension as Yu tries not to flinch at the mention of breakfast, knowing full well of Shinoa and Mitsuba’s….’cooking talents’. Legendary enough to burn a building, those two. He knows full well it’s not a good idea to blanch at the thought and makes sure not to visibly shudder at the memories. Still…she was wanting to help out. Mitsuba had her soft side too, didn’t she?

“So that’s why you’re up.” Pretty thoughtful of her. “Well, someone’s feeling extra generous today. “ But his words are meant appreciatively, Yu sitting up. He remembered a few tricks from cooking down in Sanguinem when it was his turn, and had always helped Akane. Maybe he could do the same? 

“Yeah, I don’t mind helping you out. Not gonna be Beanpole but I’ll try.  What are we making?” 

“I hadn’t thought of that yet,” she admitted, blinking. “Maybe we should keep it simple, just in case.”

It wasn’t often she had enough free-time to do nice things for the squad, and she was determined to at least improve a bit in the culinary area. At least enough to where they would enjoy it without having to pick ashes out of their teeth. What better than to cook for the people she knew would be absolutely honest with the turnout?

Mitsuba set her hands on her hips, wrinkling her nose as she thought for a moment. “What about eggs? Those are easy, right?” 

Perhaps it was wishful thinking, but she was pretty confident that she could get it right this time! Hopefully nobody would mind them using the kitchen again... Or setting it on fire.

Besides, if it ended badly, she could always run and get donuts. At least it would be something. “You get cleaned up, I’ll start getting stuff together!”

“So you’re the one on patrol with me today?” Mika turned towards the shorter blonde. Though the fishing village was usually quiet, they still made a point to patrol it regularly in case either army managed to track them down. 

“You’re Mitsuba, right?” He tried to recall the names Yu had told him of those he called his family. Mika had yet to spend much, if any, time with most of them. “That your weapon?”

“That’s me,” she chirped. Clutching her axe tightly, she nodded proudly. 

Mitsuba wasn’t exactly sure how to approach him, but he seemed nice enough, especially after hearing Yu speak so highly of him. Walking forward, eager to get the patrol over with, she glanced up at Mika. “I figure a general patrol of the main area should be enough,” she said confidently. “There shouldn’t be too much happening there.”

“HAH? Oh, Morning Mitsuba. It’s pretty early, I didn’t think you’d be up.” Yuichiro had just finished his usual, pre-sunrise training, using a towel to wipe the sweat off his neck and face as he set his sword on the table “The others are still asleep I think. You good?” He plopped himself down in one of the seats, glancing over at his family with curious green eyes. 

“I think we got a mission today, but other than that, they’re all sleeping like logs,” He joked, offering a half-smirk born out of pure fondness.

“What’s that supposed to mean? I get up plenty early all the time!” She gave a playful scoff, though maybe that statement wasn’t entirely the truth. The sleepy yawn that followed soon after proved that enough.

Mitsuba nodded at the mention of a mission, humming in thought. “Well, since its still early, I was planning on surprising everyone with breakfast.” She paused, recalling her last attempt at cooking. The blonde averted her eyes, embarrassed. “I was wondering if you wanted to help me out,” she huffed, her question sounding more like a suggestion than anything.

“I-I guess… Not as much as I thought I had. Being a Sangu has made it pretty tough to make my own decisions and do what I want for the the sake of the family image. More recently, I think I’ve been taking control of my life more and more, though! I have my friends to thank for that.”
