I started watching Merlin under the assumption that I’d get some fun history nerd moments and that Merthur was just another fannon mlm ship with little canonical basis but HOLY SHIT I’ve literally seen cannon straight couples with less sexual tension than whatever the fuck those two had going on.
Kun: I'm Yangyang's emergency contact.
Nurse: So you're here to pick him up?
Kun: I'm here to be removed as his emergency contact.

Nothing says community like hopping on Tumblr to check if AO3 is down and everyone having a breakdown that it in fact is
One thing that I keep forgetting, that makes me absolutely feral every time I remember it, is who Merlin is in Arthur's POV.
We, as an audience, know how capable, powerful and trustworthy Merlin is. It's so obvious to us and we know how much he deservers Arthur's trust and respect.
We go "Ha ha, Arthur is so oblivious" or "I can't believe Arthur said that to Merlin".
But that's the thing. We keep forgetting how unaware Arthur is of who Merlin actually is.
To Arthur, Merlin is some peasants boy who came out of nowhere. Somebody who acted way above his station. Someone who has no notable skill.
And he STILL trusts Merlin more than anyone else.
He doesn't know he's a powerful sorcerer like we do. To him, he's just some guy. A servant.
And we know that Arthur isn't someone who judges by station, but the sheer amount of trust he places in Merlin is absolutely beautiful.
Merlin knew about the destiny. Arthur didn't. And he was still so helplessly devoted to Merlin.
merlin's greatest wish was for his magic to be accepted, but most of the people he revealed his magic to died shortly after the reveal. arthur's greatest wish was to experience a love that went beyond his status as a king, but the people he loved most ended up betraying him. fate made their greatest joy also their greatest sorrow; two sides of the same coin.
Pretty much the summary of the show.
The merlin fandom in denial literally every single anniversary:
Happy ten years y'all
