“How frustrating…”
GAUS ELECTRONICS (2022) dir. Park Joon Soo
Talio: Fukushu Daiko no Futari (Fall 2020)
I’m asking you out to eat. Just the two of us. Not only that, we have so much to do. We have so many places to go around the country and overseas. Next time, let’s climb up Florence Cathedral without fail. You couldn’t go up last time because of me. No matter how hard I think about it, eating, playing and working, I want to do it all with you. I hope you continue to stay busy with me, Jiwon-ah.
Lee Sang Yi as Ji Seung Hyun Park Ye Young as Wang Ji Won Hometown Cha Cha Cha (2021)
I’m glad that Ji Won said her piece and set some boundaries but “You know everything about me only because we’ve been working together this long.” Girl, are you really going to tell me that he’d know all of these things about Doha or another staff member? Yes, he would definitely be helpful because that’s the type of person he is, but I can’t see it being to the same extent. But, that’s obviously a way for Ji Won to protect herself because Seong Hyun is completely clueless about his own feelings.
Seong Hyun leaving his car in the middle of the parking lot without parking it is so hilarious to me. Of course Ji Won would have to park it because Seong Hyun is a mess without her.
also, i love how ji pd obviously loves ji-won more than hye-jin. with hye-jin, he was reckless, ready to lay all his cards on the table, because he wasn't that afraid of losing her. he was more adamant on being with her, but not scared to not have her in his life.
but with ji-won, he just couldn't see himself without her. she's a part of him as much as he is a part of her, and losing her, to him, felt like losing a limb. it was too much, and he was afraid that it might happen. her leaving finally put him in a desperate situation. this time his fear of losing her, instead of making him afraid to make a move, made him desperate enough to actually try to be in a romantic relationship with her.
seong-hyeon didn't "settle" for ji-won, and ji-won didn't settle for half-hearted love from seong-hyeon. they actually really do love each other, he was just too much of an idiot and a coward to do anything about it. (and hung up about his feelings for his first love, ofc.)

WILDFIRE
summary: “you’re starting up a wildfire in my heart.”
he meets her in havana this time. not as her colleague or her friend. he meets her because he can’t afford to lose her. he’s much too good at losing his chances. not this time.
main characters: ji seunghyun x wang jiwon
notes: i’m quiet literally obsessed with the location that Encounter was short in, so i added it in here because i love the idea of them being that couple that travels and things like that. i really do. dedicated to the precious and lovely @sweetestlamb

HE’S NEVER BEEN THE BEST PACKER.
He left it all till the last minute, never checked the weather to see if he was bringing proper clothing. Hell, Ji Seung Hyun couldn’t even get his suitcase to fully close without his entire weight on top, because he wasn’t the best at organizing his clothes. And, now that he’s on a time crunch, he isn’t exactly trying to look presentable.
His packing snacks skills are impeccable, though. He packs a bag full of snacks. She’s always had an ungodly sweet tooth for Pepero sticks and Choco Pie. He’s never been one to work on impulse. All he does at least have a reason or planning behind it. He heard from Do Ha that she was planning a trip to Cuba; he wasn’t surprised.
She loved to travel. He felt like an idiot, knowing he messed up her trip to Florence with his arrival and endless ideas.
Thanks to someone, I barely rested for the past few years. A show would end and I’d think about going on a trip. But then you’d call every 30 seconds and spitball new ideas. One time, you even flew to where I was. Was it Rome? No, it was Florence. Florence! Hey, I couldn’t even visit the cathedrals and stayed up all night brainstorming with you! He’s the worst!. Who is that? He’s so awful. He’s unbelievable.
I love them so much. Sangyi & Goeun bestfriend since college days.
that's it. homecha is the best rom-com ever nothing even comes close. i don't think anything can top this. the way they handled the love triangle was the most mature thing i have seen in a kdrama and the reason it especially stands out is because the show is otherwise so soft and cute and... cheesy? like the writer had all the reasons to make the love triangle petty and unnecessary and only to push the leads together but she choose not to bc ms. shin ha eun is deliberate with her writing and she knows exactly where to play with tropes and where to subvert them.
hye jin doesn't give a straight answer when seong hyeon first confesses but she is not your typical fl. after she confesses to du shik she puts her relationship on hold to sort things out with seong hyeon first. she's transparent with du shik about seong hyeon confessing to her, even if it's painful for him to hear that so soon. but the way du shik handles it is very mature too. he knows how seong hyeon feels about her and obviously isn't a fan of them meeting up alone but still feels that when it comes to matters of the heart, they're best dealt with head on. and when hye jin calls him out for sounding hypocritical since his actions all this time didn't quite match up with his ideals, he confesses that he didn't even realise how deep he had fallen for her. and from then on he has zero inhibitions around her.
seong hyeon has to be one of my favourite second leads of all time because not only is he such an eccentric and fun and lovely character on his own outside of the love triangle, but even when he's rejected by hye jin, he doesn't use his pain as an excuse to give up all rationality. even though he experiences what is probably the biggest heart break of his life, (he is physically ill because of it!) in the moment he is sensible enough to express how honoured he is to have hye jin as his first love, and immediately talks to du shik to resolve any misunderstandings they might have, because it's not worth it to ruin a perfectly good friendship over something he has to deal with himself.
this is a story that acknowledges that first loves don't work out sometimes because you're too young and inexperienced to sustain them and that's okay, but also that you can gain closure if you're honest and transparent with one another about it. as you grow and mature you need to learn to put your feelings into words. and as hye jin and seong hyeon both acknowledge the part they played in each other's lives, their shortcomings, and their hesitancy, you can see how both of them have grown out of their past selves because now they're able to admit to each other that they'll always hold a special place in each other's hearts, and support each other unconditionally with their choices in the future.
i'm sorry i don't have any metas to contribute to homcha nation today i literally have sikhye brainrot?
but maybe tomorrow i can piece together some thoughts about how moving that conversation was between hyejin and seonghyun.
how bittersweet it was that they were each other's first loves, made unrequited by timing and fear and doubts.
how lovely it is that hyejin blossomed, from that young lady who was afraid of being seen, into somebody who honors her feelings and makes them known.
how beautiful it is that seonghyun saw this growth in hyejin, acknowledged it, and wished her the best. reminded her that she always shone in his eyes. hoped she would continue to shine.
how wonderful it is that he valued his nascent friendship with dusik just as much, and didn't harbor any ill feelings towards him. didn't lash out. didn't hold bitterness in his heart.
how healthy all of this was, my god.
I’m truly honored that my first love is someone like you, Hye-jin
Bromance ftw!
What if Hyejin will d word since they said dusik bring bad luck to people he loves
Then Ji PD finally realize that his real love actually for Hong Banjang, so he decide to stand by his side and live in Gongjin
Boyfriend
