Finally figured out the right god ray settings for a render that doesn’t set my computer on fire! Here’s the renders for the mid-level detailed submission for environment design class :)
I have been up to my neck in school assignments lately. Thankfully my school tasks are actually VERY interesting and I’m feeling super motivated to work on them :)
These are the sketches I made for an environment design class. We had to pick a sketch that we had made earlier and paint it in three different lighting conditions.

I declare values as my number one art enemy at the moment
I’ve noticed that I tend to make everything wayyyyy too dark. Even this thing was a gazillion times darker at first and it’s by no means light as it is now :@
I also default to painting/drawing the same forest whenever I’m trying something new lmao

Did another master study of the day, this time of Carel Fabritius – The Goldfinch.
I’m disgustingly detail oriented at times, which is a habit I want to tone down a little bit. I used so much time on some minute tiny details that I forgot about the rest of the painting. Hence the wonkiness :@
