let's say jonsa was really GRRM's ace, then what's up with jonerys in the show? Most people consider them the endgame romance with the bittersweet end which for the life of me cannot see where was the sweetness unless it was that boatsex.
How can jon dany ship exists with jonsa? How do you think it will go down in the books if jonerys was inevitable?
Hi, anon! Thanks for the ask.
Ref: This post.
Aegony is compatible with jonsa bc there is politicalJon. We just have to tweak some things but what we can be sure about 100% in the books is that Jon will betray Dany.
Why will jd break up in the books? Well, for sure it's not bc Jon is repulsed by incest with his aunt. There is no reason in Planetos for Jon to break up with Dany if he loved her bc of "incest" bc it's not really incest. See:Jonnel/Sansa. Aegony is not a forbidden romance!!!! They weren't raised together as a brother/sister for Jon to possibly get an ick.
Why not a love triangle? Jon is ice and fire so his lady loves are also ice and fire. Also if we count J and S, R and L, who have had secret weddings, there was always a scorned woman in the equation. Baela, Elia, and then Dany. The pattern will hold true for Jon and Sansa as well. JD never got married in the show bc there will be no reason for it to happen in the books. When will hell break loose? The rlj reveal. Dany who claims to be the righful heir of the 7k will never let Rhaegar's trueborn son go. She would want to marry him if silencing him doesn't work but Jon would refuse bc he secretly loves another.
She lights KL on fire. Jon kills her. It's good that Dany burns KL imo bc then Jon would have the moral high ground in getting rid of a tyrant. He gets "rewarded" by King Bran for his deed with Sansa's hand in marriage. Alas, it turns out that tyrant coincidentally was in the way of true love. I'm *sure* Jon will betray his auntie/lover bc of her threat to Sansa. Dany's last treason is FOR LOVE. If it's really for love of family like in the show, wouldn't the last treason be more accurate as FOR BLOOD? Jon's cousins are of his blood.
Jon will be a hero(righteous cause) and also get the girl. He gets to have his cake and eat it too. A bittersweet cake where the bitter part comes from Dany and the sweet part, well... In conclusion, Jon will have a justification for betraying D but his motivation would be questioned by the readers bc of the prophecy.
Any Jonsa fics in which characterization and physical appearance of Jon is closer to Canon?
Hi,
I am assuming you mean closer to book canon? Honestly I haven't really read that many book jonsa fics. I am more of a show jonsa fan and mostly read modern AUs 😅
Few book fics I have read are post ADWD. Sharing them below -
1. The Wolves of Winter by JustAWhiteQuill
~When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives.~
Beneath a wall of ice, a crow died and came back a wolf. Now, he is crowned King in the North and faced with the immense task of preparing his battered kingdom for the Long Night.
Atop the lonely mountain, a little bird grew fangs and came back a wolf. Now, she is the Princess of Winterfell and taking care of the only family she thinks she has left.
When news reaches them of the other still being alive, a chain of events is set in motion. Winter is coming, and with it, the darkest hour of the night. The time for wolves is here. All the while, the dragons and lions south are battling for a throne covered in fire and blood.
2. I Can't Steal You (Like You Stole Me) by @thewolvescalledmehome
Seeing the only family Sansa Stark had left to her was the only motivation keeping her astride the horse. Jon Snow is at Castle Black. He’ll protect you. It had been so long since she felt safe, felt protected. She yearned for the security of familiar arms and someone who cared for her because she was Sansa and not a Stark. The nerves she may have felt over arriving at Castle Black alone to see the half-brother she had not seen—had barely thought of—in years did not consume her, nor did she allow herself to feel disappointment that it was not Robb or a trueborn brother to save her.
Only, upon her arrival, she is told of the mutiny. Then she is asked an impossible question: What would she give to have him back?

3. Beasts of Seasons by Simonetta
She had prepared her words and her actions meticulously.
She hadn’t prepared to actually see him.
Or, Jon and Sansa reunite and things don't go according to plan, forcing Sansa to reevaluate her identity and her loyalties and forcing Jon to come back to himself.
Post-ADWD, bookverse fic. Jon and Sansa reunite on campaign to win back Winterfell.
4. The Thawing of Winter by @jade-masquerade
Sansa knew Jon married her—married Alayne—for the Vale, or maybe, because of his past, he saw her as a fellow bastard and meant to raise her up the same as his people did for him, how they chose Lord Eddard’s sole surviving son as King in the North. But when she looked at him, she saw nothing of the sort in his eyes, only a flash of desire, the way a man ought to look at his wife, before he steadied his gaze. If this was truly wrong, she wondered, then why did the gods let it feel so right?
So instead of Sansa marrying the prince who turns out to be a bastard, she is going to marry the bastard who turns out to be a prince. And I think that's poetic justice!
It’s a strange coincidence that the champions of the Ashford Tourney, from the Dunk and Egg stories, seem to follow the pattern of Sansa’s suitors in the series.
There are a lot of hedging Jonsaesque comments like this on TWOW theories with no backlash on YouTube:
Sansa has to remarry at some point. Continuing the Stark bloodline is her duty and it will secure her reign as a ruler. Now the good question is who will she marry. GRRM has teased many times who this could be. It should be someone who fits the "High Lord who is brave, gentle, strong" description. It should be someone who is like the heroes of the songs (Prince Aemon the dragon knight and Florian the Fool) if not even better. It should be someone who is also willing enough to give up any claim or name and take up the Stark name. Now I can think of one person though, who checks off all this points, but I am not sure if I should say it
and they get upvotes.
People, especially men, are willing to see the logic of the pairing so long as the word “Jonsa” is unmentioned. So stupid.
Yup! Saying jonsa is considered high treason in this fandom . . . .
Something I've been thinking a lot about lately is how Jon knows what it's like to be burned. With his hand, he doesn't feel it in the moment but that's probably adrenaline more than anything else.
"You do not look well. How is your hand?"
"Healing." Jon flexed his bandaged fingers to show him. He had burned himself more badly than he knew throwing the flaming drapes, and his right hand was swathed in silk halfway to the elbow. At the time he'd felt nothing; the agony had come after. His cracked red skin oozed fluid, and fearsome blood blisters rose between his fingers, big as roaches. "The maester says I'll have scars, but otherwise the hand should be as good as it was before."
"A scarred hand is nothing. On the Wall, you'll be wearing gloves often as not."
It was not the thought of scars that troubled Jon; it was the rest of it. Maester Aemon had given him milk of the poppy, yet even so, the pain had been hideous. At first it had felt as if his hand were still aflame, burning day and night. Only plunging it into basins of snow and shaved ice gave any relief at all. Jon thanked the gods that no one but Ghost saw him writhing on his bed, whimpering from the pain.

And then there's the scene of his wound getting cauterized. Which, yeah, he's otherwise injured and just escaped the wildlings, experiencing a lot of physical pain and internal turmoil, etc., etc. Still:
Maester Aemon sniffed Jon's wound again. Then he put the bloody cloth back in the basin and said, "Donal, the hot knife, if you please. I shall need you to hold him still."
I will not scream, Jon told himself when he saw the blade glowing red hot. But he broke that vow as well. Donal Noye held him down, while Clydas helped guide the maester's hand. Jon did not move, except to pound his fist against the table, again and again and again. The pain was so huge he felt small and weak and helpless inside it, a child whimpering in the dark. Ygritte, he thought, when the stench of burning flesh was in his nose and his own shriek echoing in her ears. Ygritte, I had to. For half a heartbeat the agony started to ebb. But then the iron touched him once again, and he fainted.
-ASOS, Jon VI
This doesn't even touch on how he feels about the R'hollor crew and stories of people intentionally being burned. Whether he's there when King's Landing burns or hears about it, he will be able to empathize with the people of the city. There will be survivors, some with burns like on his hand and some with way worse. There won't be enough milk of the poppy for everyone. There will be men, women, children, soldiers, civilians, and old people burned and screaming in pain. Before KL burns, Jon will have heard about the other places DT has been as well. They're not gonna be pals.
But there will be conflict in his interactions with DT. Jon fiddles with his hands when he's conflicted or distressed:
Jon's breath misted the air. If I lie to him, he'll know. He looked Mance Rayder in the eyes, opened and closed his burned hand. "I wear the cloak you gave me, Your Grace."
-ASOS, Jon II
Lots of examples from AGOT, when his hand is still freshly burned and in more pain:
"Grief and noise," Mormont grumbled. "That's all they're good for, ravens. Why I put up with that pestilential bird … if there was news of Lord Eddard, don't you think I would have sent for you? Bastard or no, you're still his blood. The message concerned Ser Barristan Selmy. It seems he's been removed from the Kingsguard. They gave his place to that black dog Clegane, and now Selmy's wanted for treason. The fools sent some watchmen to seize him, but he slew two of them and escaped." Mormont snorted, leaving no doubt of his view of men who'd send gold cloaks against a knight as renowed as Barristan the Bold. "We have white shadows in the woods and unquiet dead stalking our halls, and a boy sits the Iron Throne," he said in disgust.
The raven laughed shrilly. "Boy, boy, boy, boy."
Ser Barristan had been the Old Bear's best hope, Jon remembered; if he had fallen, what chance was there that Mormont's letter would be heeded? He curled his hand into a fist. Pain shot through his burned fingers. "What of my sisters?"
-AGOT, Jon VIII
When Jon had been Bran's age, he had dreamed of doing great deeds, as boys always did. The details of his feats changed with every dreaming, but quite often he imagined saving his father's life. Afterward Lord Eddard would declare that Jon had proved himself a true Stark, and place Ice in his hand. Even then he had known it was only a child's folly; no bastard could ever hope to wield a father's sword. Even the memory shamed him. What kind of man stole his own brother's birthright? I have no right to this, he thought, no more than to Ice. He twitched his burned fingers, feeling a throb of pain deep under the skin. "My lord, you honor me, but—"
-AGOT, Jon VIII
Jon raised the hood of his heavy cloak and gave the horse her head. Castle Black was silent and still as he rode out, with Ghost racing at his side. Men watched from the Wall behind him, he knew, but their eyes were turned north, not south. No one would see him go, no one but Sam Tarly, struggling back to his feet in the dust of the old stables. He hoped Sam hadn't hurt himself, falling like that. He was so heavy and so ungainly, it would be just like him to break a wrist or twist his ankle getting out of the way. "I warned him," Jon said aloud. "It was nothing to do with him, anyway." He flexed his burned hand as he rode, opening and closing the scarred fingers. They still pained him, but it felt good to have the wrappings off.
-AGOT, Jon IX
Not until he was well beyond the village did Jon slow again. By then both he and the mare were damp with sweat. He dismounted, shivering, his burned hand aching. A bank of melting snow lay under the trees, bright in the moonlight, water trickling off to form small shallow pools. Jon squatted and brought his hands together, cupping the runoff between his fingers. The snowmelt was icy cold. He drank, and splashed some on his face, until his cheeks tingled. His fingers were throbbing worse than they had in days, and his head was pounding too. I am doing the right thing, he told himself, so why do I feel so bad?
Five times the Lord Commander visits the Queen in the North — and the one time he stays.
“Jon, I’m going to ask you something, and it will be the last time I ever ask.”
He nods, resignation behind his eyes. He knows what she’s going to say.
