More from Louis’ art collection:
barely visible in the prayer or living room is “Slave Auction” by Jean-Michel Basquiat. Here is a shitty pic looking over Daniels shoulder
A quote from bell hooks in ‘93 on Basquiat (with so much more to say, here):
“Expressing a firsthand knowledge of the way assimilation and objectification lead to isolation, Basquiat’s black male figures stand alone and apart.
They are not whole people.”
Here’s a video— well, with Eurocentric gaze — and it’s so interesting to see the scale and *presence*. Having this in my space would certainly change my day:

You know, when the drift began and we, uh… we saw that cognitive decline was starting sooner, a Day adjusted the timing. Cutting the, uh, thread of life shorter for all of us. So a… Day could adjust it again."

gaal dornick just IS the protagonist of all time. she mutilates herself and abandons her faith and family to go to the center of the galactic empire to do math, discovers she’s going to save the galaxy instead and is like okay also cool :) the first action she takes upon leaving her tiny backwater home planet is lying to empire. without flinching. she ruins hari seldon’s mastermind plans without even trying. she repeatedly yeets off across the galaxy in a solo cryo pod for decades at a time KNOWING it will take that long and ends up torturing a man for a hundred years and just says whoops. she discovers she’s psychic and then takes over the training psychics institute in like two weeks. she accidentally crafts a situation where she has a daughter the same age as her and is like…how weird :/she decides she needs to make herself a god and is like can i bring my emotional support old man with me for company there ARE two pods. and then he betrays her. every man she meets including a religious prophet, an emperor, the hottest man you’ve ever seen, and a psychic megalomanic is devastated by her and she is in the corner telling a statue she loves him. everyone thinks she’s on a suicide mission and she’s like actually i’ve wanted to kill this man for one hundred fifty years. she gets proposed to and is like… i don’t even know you. shes like twenty five years old and also three hundred and she never has any time!!
