on 2 separate occasions i've had conversations with people where they've mentioned something they don't Get about omegaverse and I've been like 'well it's like that bcos it's a fetish thing' and they've been like 'it's a what??'

it gets treated as this like stock fandom AU and i'll see people like 'i don't understand why anyone wants to read this' and i'm like yes that's bcos it's pretty intense* fetish content & you don't have the right assortment of fetishes for it? there's a bunch of other similar Stock Settings that just haven't breached containment.

*intense as in like, Density of fetish content involved rather than intensity of fetish if that makes sense?

SO i think i've observed 2 separate but related things going on:

firstly the aforementioned demographic of people who have somehow genuinely failed to clock that it's a kink thing

but also a second demographic of people who seem to have taken its like. prominence in fandom spaces as a sign that they're somehow 'expected' to like it? i've not really seen this attitude with any other kink.

ppl will talk about it the way they might talk about say high school/college AUs or coffee shop AUs which are very common and i guess are sometimes presented as things that everyone finds fluffy & relatable? when in reality it's more like idk. piss kink. it'd be pretty weird to read a piss kink fic and go 'ewww why does the author expect me to find piss sexy??' well they don't. they expect people who already think piss is sexy to read the fic.

I think a lot of people have never realised that most (sexual) fantasy scenarios and fetishes aren't necessarily literal but set-dressing. They're shocked by Morning Glory Milking Farm because they can't imagine finding a minotaur attractive, but really that book is just about a size kink and like, having a hot older man spoil you a bit. Super basic, practically vanilla. Omegaverse isn't really about having a whole extra layer of gender and sex markers, it's more size kink and some kind of soul mate system and a smattering of cnc. When I taught a class on historical romance I really emphasised how important it is to try and look behind the set dressing and figure out why a trope or a kink might appeal to people and soooo many times it boils down to like, finally getting fucked right and not having to worry about student loans anymore.

For everything we do here, please be sure to be careful with what you edit, and restart your computer to lock things in. If you don't have access to the Group editor, (likely to happen if you're on base windows) you can do this as well by opening your Registry Editor app, then inputting this after your 'computer' or whatever the initial segment is. (Mine is computer. If I just try and paste the below string it gets SO mad at me)

\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsCopilot

Navigating to your "turnoffwindowscopilot", hit modify, and set the value data to 1.

If done correctly, it'll look like this.

While we're at it, you can also get rid of the integrated search, (or that thing where it searches the web when you search anything, whether or not you want it to) and such through regedit as well.

Integrated search will have you going to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer

Navigate to your "DisableSearchBoxSuggestions" bit, if you don't see it, you can make it by right clicking and creating a new registry D-Word key of that exact name. Edit the key, set it to 1. It'll look like this if you do it right!

To get rid of Windows Spotlight, (The thing where it pulls up ten billion pages on windows start page, shoving ads in your face and cluttering everything) we go to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DesktopSpotlight\Settings

And set "Enabled State" To 0. If you do it right, it'll look like this!

Disabling edge on startup will also help a fair deal with processing speed and the like. This you can do in all sorts of ways, the easiest being turning it off entirely on startup through settings in the like.

If you want to kill it *entirely*, though? :)

In regedit, run along to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft

Navigate to your MicrosoftEdge key subcategory. If you don't see it, you can make one! Note, this is a KEY, not a d-word. *inside* that subcategory, we want to either make or find the D-Word key of PreventLaunchEdge and set that to 1 in the same way as all the others. It'll look like this.

Aaaand while we're here, I'd HIGHLY recommend shanking Killer Networking Services. It's just bloatware. (Ostensibly it's supposed to monitor your network bandwidth and even things out, but that really means it's constantly monitoring and pinging things, which eats up the bandwidth you DO get, and also chunks your computer's processing power.) Getting rid of it entirely is borderline impossible, since it's set to redownload on regular updates and intel is very pushy with its updates.

This you can do by opening your Services.msc, which basically shows you all the background stuff that Windows does. Find Anything with Killer in the name, right click it, go to properties, and disable startup. It should look like this, if done successfully. It will probably reenable itself in time/in later updates for windows, but it's a quick fix. I'd also check your TaskScheduler app to make sure that nothing's scheduled to open up there, either.

If you CAN completely kill Killer services through uninstalling and the like, I would warn that at very least for my computer, the only ethernet/lan support applications that are available ARE Killer's. When you download updates, you really do have to do it manually and ONLY download the ethernet services, or just be cool with not having Lan functionality.

One last thing, not a shit application but is a shit service. If your computer's constantly overheating or just warm, you likely have Turboboost enabled. (Default setting that you can't change) If you want to be able to turn it off and drop your temps by like 40 degrees, in Regedit go to

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7

(Note- This isn't the string copy paste from the reddit thread, this is mine that does the same thing. If my string doesn't work for you, check the reddit thread string. If that doesn't work either, you can follow the path and find it pretty easily. Probably has like, one letter of difference somewhere. The bits all start the same, though, so it's easy to find.)

and go to "attributes". Set the value from 1 to 2, and now in your advanced Power Plan settings in control panel, you'll be able to *see* turbo boost and turn it off.

It'll look like this, and in power options, a successful disabling of boost should look like this.

Turning off quick startup's also a good call, since that basically stops your restarts from actually shutting things down properly.

I would like to once again recommend to you all Winero Tweaker, a free program that lets you adjust a bunch of windows settings with a single click instead of digging through 30 different setting screens and registry entries.

There's well over a hundred settings, here's just a few of them:

Fair warning: This is a powerful tool which means it can also do some damage if you don't know what you're doing, but every setting comes with an extensive explanation, as you can see in the Ads and unwanted apps screenshot.

This tool will even turn windows 11 from a bloated mess into a (more or less, this tool isn't magic) usable operating system.

INTEREST CHECK AND DISCORD INVITE What's the general vibe for this? Well let me tell you all about it (in short form, more information elsewhere if thou doth desire to consult the cards further.

Quick Premise: Pairs of authors and artists will team up to create a tarot card and story that encompasses something about that card in the world of Good Omens. This is more of a collaborative Zine structure rather than a bang. You will communicate about what the overall subject of the piece will be. Artists will be expected to create a card (Frame provided and exact size specifications in order to have a cohesive look between all the cards) as well as a secondary illustration that depicts something from the authors actual fic(this can be a simpler image, a full illustration or an extended art image from the tarot card as long as it's somewhat different.) Authors will be expected to create a full fic that carries a theme of the card in some way as well as a short poem/blurb/excerpt to go along with the actual tarot card itself. (This can range from a short scene, a well-written premise, a poem, anything written that exemplifies your interpretation of the card. Now, this is a fairly open-ended concept with a lot of creative wiggle room, so more time is being planned to give people. There's a 3k minimum for the main fic, no maximum, but the smaller blurb will be much shorter; as such there's possibly going to be allowed 2-4 person groups to split the work if we get enough interest. The Card Frame will have several designs to be voted on as well but the strict sizing will not be budged on in case of anyone wanting to print these for actual use so they can appear like a set. The back art has also not been decided as of yet.

First Round sign-ups end tomorrow evening if you're thinking of joining and haven't yet! So what's the premise here? A while back, the official Good Omens Tarot Cards dropped, and while they were interesting, I think the fandom can do a better and deeper look into tarot. Tarot featured heavily as a background element hidden throughout season 2.

What's the overall plan?

The plan is to match up authors and artists who will collaborate on how to interpret their assigned card as a team. For authors: One fic and 1 exerpt that showcases the idea For Artists: two art pieces(1 card and 1 illustration or accompanying image). The Excerpt and the card illustration will be the collaboration items, while the full fic and illustration can be more individual.

The Excerpt should be a short blurb, similiar to a longer summary, it can be quotes from the main fic or rewriting the cards information in a way that corresponds with the fic for the matching theme, a poem that conveys them author's interpretation of the card.

The Card art will be a strict sizing so that they match and a frame will be provided to each artist. There will be spots to add and alter as needed. A PSD will be provided (If you use another program you can discuss it with me and I'll save your chosen frame as a transparent PNG to use!) This also means it is open to COSPLAYERS! Your photos of yourselves are ALSO works of Art and they aren't icluded often enough in Bangs/Zines! A second artist may be assigned to assist with art prep of the photo so it's cohesive with the group.

Whats provided? Artists and authors will be provided a secluded channel on discord to talk and engage with each other. A frame will be provided so any form of art is able to be utilized as well.

What is the focus? We are focusing only on the Major Arcana (22 cards) and possibly the 4 suits(Not all the cards individually) unless we have an overwhelming number that wants to partake in this! I figure most would want to do the suits themselves.

May I choose my card? Yes and No. I'm sure many of us would love to pick the Lovers Card, it's easy, right? However, not everyone can work on the same card, and every card is unique and requires attention. As such, the groups will be matched up on other criteria and then assigned by a random number generator to a card. -That being said, I will be asking for a list of preferred cards in the official joining/link to the discord and using that also to match people up together. If enough people have a variety of options, the first few groups matched up may get their preferred card. As well as if someone particularly matches the vibe of a card, I may make an executive decision for that. I can only think of one definitive instance, and it's not for the Lovers Card, so that one will be ALL luck-based. You will also be able to say if there's a certain card you DON'T want to be paired with, you will be able to select up to three "don't assign me that card!".

Will your work be judged against a criteria? No, not at all. How you and your partner interpret the cards is solely up to you. Examples of the meanings of the cards are provided in your private channel, both in their azreading and in their reversed reading.

There will be a second form once enough people have joined or expressed interest to match up authors/artists and cards. I will TRY to give people the cards they want, but I can't promise.
